Given that the film doesn’t even have a release date yet, and that it just started rolling cameras in Wilmington, North Carolina, a few months back, it’s more than a little odd to be seeing images from Max Steel, a live-action adaptation of the Mattel action toy and its accompanying Disney Xd series, this early on. Regardless, we’re not complaining. The first shots from the movie look quite intriguing, and I’ll be interested to see more as production continues.
Max Steel will star Ben Winchell (Disney’s A.N.T. Farm, SundanceTV’s The Red Road) as (according to Moviefone, which debuted the pics) “16-year-old Max, who is going through a particularly uncomfortable bout of puberty: it seems he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend, Steel, (hence the title), produce the universe’s most powerful energy. The two join forces to become super hero Max Steel, »

Open Road Films just unveiled the first nine photos from its upcoming "Max Steel" sci-fi film, which is written by Christopher Yost (Thor: The Dark World) and directed by Stewart Hendler ("Halo 4: Forward Unto Dawn"). Check them out below. The film chronicles the adventures of 16-year old Max McGrath (Ben Winchell) and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the turbo-charged superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, and fighting the mysterious forces threatening their world. The new movie co-stars Ana Villafane, Andy Garcia and Maria Bello. It's set to hit theaters in 2015. Photos: (click to enlarge) »
Jimi: All Is by My Side Trailer: Musician-turned-actor André Benjamin (aka André 3000) takes on the challenge of playing the legendary Jimi Hendrix in Jimi: All Is by My Side, which opens in theaters on September 26. Written and directed by John Ridley, who won an Oscar for his 12 Years a Slave screenplay, the movie focuses on the early days of Hendrix's career, as captured in the first trailer. Imogen Poots and Hayley Atwell also star. [The Playlist] Max Steel: Based on both a toy line and a television series, Max Steel stars Andy Garcia, Maria Bello and Ben Winchell as Max, a teenager who becomes a superpowered hero when he teams up with an alien friend named Steel. If The Lego Movie, Transformers and G.I. Joe just isn't enough toy based movies for your kids to enjoy, then you're probably in the mood for Max Steel. The first photos from the film based on the toy and animated series of the same name have arrived showing off Ben Winchell as Max McGrath, a teenage boy who learns he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend named Steel, (see, it's the title!) produce the universe's most powerful energy. Andy Garcia and Maria Bello also star in the film, because everyone needs a paycheck. This looks pretty cheesy, and likely just for kids, but they don't really make films like this just for the young ones anymore, so maybe it'll be fun for them. Photos below! Here's the first set of photos for Stewart Hendler's Max Steel adaptation, originally from Moviefone: Max Steel is directed »

While it may not have the name recognition of other toy line adaptations such as Transformers and G.I. Joe, Mattel's Max Steel could very well be the next to make the big leap from the toy shelves to box office success. New photos have been released which give us our first look at the title character, Maxwell McGrath (Ben Winchell), both in and out of his superhero costume, Sofia Martinez (Ana Villafañe) and Maria Bello as Max's mother. Take a look at these images, then read on for more details regarding director Stewart Hendler's adaptation.
Moviefone also reports that Max Steel will make its presence known at Comic-Con 2014 later this month, although it isn't known if the first footage will be shown, since production just started in late April. Stay tuned for the latest updates.
Max Steel tells the story of teenager Maxwell McGrath and alien companion Steel »
It's surprising to see these Max Steel images so early, since the film based on the Mattel action figure and its accompanying Disney Xd animated show was just gearing up to shoot in Wilmington, North Carolina a few months ago. Now it appears that the Stewart Hendler directed live action feature is at least far enough along to begin sharing some material. Moviefone got the first look at nine pics from the film today, and the project seems to be aimed squarely at the young adult fan base. Per Moviefone the film follows "16-year-old Max who is going through a particularly uncomfortable bout of puberty: it seems he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend, Steel, produce 'the universe's most powerful energy.' The two join forces to become super hero Max Steel." Disney Xd star Ben Winchell stars as the titular Max Steel. Andy Garcia, Maria Bello »

Open Road Films has released the first batch of photos from their upcoming live action adaptation of Max Steel, and they give us our first look at Disney star Ben Winchell as the main character. That suit he's wearing in the photo above is pretty cool. It looks like he's about ready to go ballistic on someone.
I was never really into Max Steel, but it does sound look and sound like it has potential to be a cool flick that fans of the animated series and toy line would enjoy. Here's a brief synopsis:
"The origins story chronicles the adventures of 16-year-old Max McGrath (Winchell) and alien companion Steel, who must harness and combine their tremendous new powers to evolve into the superhero Max Steel. As these two unlikely friends struggle to accept their oddly connected fates, they begin to uncover unimaginable secrets, working together to find the truth, »

Based on the toy line and animated television series, Ben Winchell ("Ant Farm") stars as Max McGrath, a teenager with special turbo-energy powers. Together with his alien companion Steel, he becomes the superhero of the title.
Andy Garcia and Maria Bello also star in the film which opens next year, with the first look at the movie taking place later this month at Comic Con. Today though, Moviefone has posted the first images which you can see below:

In Hollywood, increasingly the evolution of a certain property will go as follows: starts off as a toy, transitions to a television series (usually animated or featuring a large number of visual effects) and then ends up as a movie. This is certainly the trajectory that "Max Steel" has followed, and we've got the exclusive photos to show you how it wound up in cinematic form.
The movie, which is based on both a toy line and television series, follows 16-year-old Max (Disney Channel star Ben Winchell), who is going through a particularly uncomfortable bout of puberty: it seems he has hidden powers that when combined with an extraterrestrial friend, Steel, (hence the title), produce "the universe's most powerful energy." The two join forces to become super hero Max Steel, who has a very cool looking robo-suit. Sounds pretty nifty, huh?

One of the better films from the first half of this year was definitely Raymond de Felitta’s crime caper Rob the Mob, which charted the rise and fall of Tommy and Rosemarie Uva (played excellently by Michael Pitt and Nina Arianda), a real Queens couple who brazenly stuck up New York clubs habited by big-time mobsters as part of an unlikely crime spree. In my four-star review, I wrote:
Part crime drama, part relationship comedy, Rob the Mob was one of those movies that really shouldn’t have worked but did so spectacularly. And as it heads to Blu-Ray and DVD this week courtesy of Millenium Entertainment, We Got This Covered is thrilled to debut an exclusive deleted scene from the film. »

21 Jump Street was an unexpected hit back in 2012, while the sequel has taken the box office by storm both in the UK and in North America this past weekend. Though directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller poked fun at potential sequels during the end credits, it’s undoubtedly one of Sony’s top franchises right now.
However, Let’s Be Cops looks like it has the potential to be a legitimate rival to the police focused cop comedy franchise, albeit in a very different way. Starring New Girl actors Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr., the movie focuses on two friends who take fancy dress too far when they start masquerading as police.
As you might expect, hijinks ensue, and Let’s Be Cops looks like a whole lot of fun!

Upcoming fake-police-comedy Let’S Be Cops isn’t hitting cinemas till August, but you can get a glimpse of things to come with two new trailers.
The movie follows two down and outs (New Girl stars Jake Johnson and Damon Wayans Jr.) whose idea to go to a fancy-dress party as cops goes a bit too far. So convincing are their outfits, that they’re mistaken for real life officers. We all know the ladies like a man in uniform, and Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries) is soon being duped by the pair. However, in an not unsurprising turn of events, local crime boss (Andy Garcia) soon gets tied up in the double-act’s shenanigans.
You can view the two trailers below. Be warned – the red band one is Nsfw (there’s a fair amount of swearing). Green band trailer is up first.
Let’S Be Cops is out 13 August »
