Continuing on its promotional campaign for Star Wars: The Force Awakens, Disney has today debuted a fresh batch of artwork for J.J. Abrams’ upcoming sequel that highlights the film’s Elite Stormtrooper and a Speeder mid-flight.

Essentially, the concept art is in effort to drum up excitement for this weekend’s Force Friday, which will herald a whole host of toys and merchandise for Episode VII. In fact, today’s trio of stills arrive mere days after promotional material drew attention to both sides of the Force, including stylized action shots of Daisy Ridley’s Rey, Chewbacca and the loveable droid that is Bb-8.

Promo Art Featuring Star Wars: The Force Awakens' 'Elite Stormtroopers' Surfaces

15 hours ago | ComicBookMovie.com | See recent ComicBookMovie news »

Some stores are already selling Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise, and that means that certain toys and artwork is being revealed sooner than Lucasfilm would probably like. The latest features the reveal of the Elite Stormtroopers, a group who will apparently feature heavily in the movie as part of Chrysler's marketing deal with Disney. The First Order looks set to be quite different to the Empire of old, and all of these new Stormtrooper factions should give The Force Awakens a fresh feel...and shift a sh*t ton of merchandise too of course. What do you think? Starring original cast members Harrison Ford, Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Anthony Daniels, Peter Mayhew, Kenny Baker and franchise newcomers, John Boyega, Daisy Ridley, Adam Driver, Oscar Isaac, Andy Serkis, Domhnall Gleeson, Gwendoline Christie, Lupita Nyong’o and Max von SydowStar Wars Episode VII is set to be released on December 18th, »

Star Wars: The Force Awakens expected to shift $5 billion of merchandise in first year

31 August 2015 2:50 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

We all know that Star Wars: The Force Awakens is going to rake it in at the worldwide box office, with predictions of a $600 million + global opening weekend, and now analyst Tim Nollen has told The Hollywood Reporter that tie-in products for the hotly-anticipated blockbuster could pull in around $5 billion in sales within the first twelve months.

“The Force Awakens could generate $5 billion in consumer merchandise sales in its first year of release, assuming it does better than Cars 2’s $3 billion,” states Nollen. “This would easily net Disney about $500 million in licensing and retail revenue. Cars 2 sold more than $2.8 billion worth of merchandise in its first year alone in 2011, and the original Cars movie sold approximately $10 billion worth of merchandise in its first five years of release. Taking into account the strength of the Star Wars franchise, which has altogether sold over $20 billion worth of licensed goods in its lifetime, »

New Captain America: Civil War footage! Fantastic Four review! – Watch The Flickering Myth Movie Show #7

Black Widow can punch explosions.

Fantastic…Bore. Fantastic…Fourth Worst Movie Ever Made. Fantastic…4%. Or, as some have taken to calling it, just ‘Four’.

It was the fail story of the Summer, with Twentieth Century Fox’s tentpole superhero blockbuster bombing so hard at the box office, it took out a five-mile stretch of Odeons in the Greater Bexleyheath area. In the September edition of The Flickering Myth Movie Show, Oli Davis, Rebecca Perfect, Luke Owen and Kat Kourbeti discuss the problems with the movie, the practice of entrusting $100million+ franchises with young, independent filmmakers (think Gareth Edwards on Godzilla and Colin Treverrow on Jurassic World), and who is really to blame for the movie’s failure – Fantastic Four’s director Josh Trank, or the studio that allegedly hamstrung his production?

Fantastic Four also gets to be the first film receiving the Best Bad Reviews treatment – our new series that »

In Real World, 'Compton' Not (Anytime Soon) to Break Record as Highest-Grossing Domestic Hit Directed by Black Filmmaker

28 August 2015 4:18 PM, PDT | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

'Straight Outta Compton' poster. Weekend box office: 'Straight Outta Compton' to beat weak competitors, but still far from being top blockbuster directed by black filmmaker If you thought last weekend was bad at the U.S. and Canada box office, you should see what's in store for this weekend, Aug. 28-30, '15. For starters, only one movie, F. Gary Gray's sleeper hit Straight Outta Compton, is expected to earn more than $10 million. The rest – and that includes Zac Efron, Owen Wilson, Pierce Brosnan, and the Power of (Christian) Prayer – will perform quite powerlessly indeed. In case Straight Outta Compton reaches the box office gurus' estimated $15 million, it will get close to the $140 million mark. Bear in mind there's no guarantee that will happen; despite basically no competition, the drop-off rate of Gray's hip hopping film was steeper than expected last weekend.
