Tagline: "The Night will Fall." Nightworld is a new horror film from production house Open Frames. Shot in Bulgaria, the film involves a mansion and its sordid history. Something resides in the home's shadowy crevices. The film is currently in post-production. And, Nightworld centrally stars Jason London, Robert Englund and Gianni Capaldi. The film's first mysterious trailer is hosted here. The film's trailer shows a new head of security moving into a rustic mansion. Once settled in, Brett (London) uncovers information about this apartment's shadowy owners and murderous, former employees. Now, their ghosts are returning to produce one more fatality. As well as the trailer, the film poster for Nightworld is hosted here. The graphic shows a figure and several strange hieroglyphs. A key will open this door, which obviously leads to hell. 9 March 2016 4:44 PM, PST | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

Right on the heels of his successful appearance at our Silver Scream Festival in Santa Rosa, Robert Englund has been cast opposite fan fave Lin Shaye (A Nightmare On Elm Street, Ouija, Insidious) in an indie horror flick called The Midnight Man, which is to be directed by Travis Z, who directed the recent Cabin Fever remake.

According to The Wrap, the film “is based on the old pagan ritual the Midnight Game, though it doubles as an American remake of Rob Kennedy’s low-budget 2013 feature of the same name that was made in Ireland.”

The story revolves around a girl and her friends who play the Midnight Game, which brings about the titular Midnight Man, who terrorizes them using their own fears against them.

In another corner of Hollyweird, the erstwhile Thelma Dickinson, Oscar winner Geena Davis, has been cast as Angela Rance in Fox’s upcoming series The Exorcist, »

Silver Scream Fest: An all-star tribute to Wes Craven

4 March 2016 9:15 PM, PST | FamousMonsters of Filmland | See recent Famous Monsters of Filmland news »

Robert Englund, Heather Langenkamp, and producer Marianne Maddalena graced the stage of our Silver Scream Fest in Santa Rosa, Calif., to pay tribute to Wes Craven, the filmmaker who changed all their lives and the face of horror cinema. The three had a comfortable rapport, having known each other for decades at this point.

When asked by moderator Neil Pearlmutter who the real Craven was, Englund graciously deferred to Maddalena, because, while he and Langenkamp had worked with him as actors on several projects, Maddalena had been his right-hand man for years. Maddalena said that when she interviewed to be his assistant, “I told him I wanted to be a producer. He did everything he could and two years later, I was a producer on a film called Shocker.”

She then related an anecdote that illustrated his sense of humor. He loaned her a screener of What’S Eating Gilbert Grape? »

The Silver Scream fest hit the ground running on a grey, rainy day in the beautiful wine country of Santa Rosa, California. Werewolves, aliens, and a life-sized Freddy Krueger figure ushered in the guys and ghouls brave enough to face the falling water.

When he arrived, he arrived in style, sporting a glove with knives for fingers. After Famous Monsters publisher Philip Kim welcomed the throng of fright fiends to the first annual Silver Scream Fest, Englund added in his best Freddy voice, “The first and the Last Silver Scream!”

The crowd ate it up! And yours truly had front-row access to the festivities. After the ceremony was complete, Englund hung around to chat with his next victims … er, fans. He took special notice of a youngster, Johnny, who »
