Exclusive Interview: Sam Elliott Talks The Company You Keep, Shia Labeouf & Golden Compass Sequel

23 November 2011 | The Daily BLAM! | See recent The Daily BLAM! news »

I recently caught up with actor Sam Elliott to discuss his upcoming role as a drug dealer in director Robert Redford's star studded political thriller. He also shared his thoughts on his cinematic legacy and whether he's willing to return to The Golden Compass franchise if it ever continues. Sam Elliott has finished filming his role in The Company You Keep and the Tombstone actor was nice enough to answer some questions on the star studded flick which features one of the most stacked casts of any film sure to be released in 2012. The Company You Keep is a thriller about a former Weather Underground activist who goes on the run from a journalist who has discovered his identity. The film is directed by Robert Redford, who also stars and features the talents of Shia Labeouf, Anna Kendrick »

Playboy Playmate Cynthia Myers Dies: Beyond The Valley Of The Dolls Star

6 November 2011 1:44 PM, PST | Alt Film Guide | See recent Alt Film Guide news »

Model and actress Cynthia Myers, a 1968 Playboy Playmate, died Nov. 4. She was 61. Hugh Hefner announced her death on Twitter: “I’m saddened by the news of the passing of beloved Playmate Cynthia Myers, Miss December 1968.” No details about the cause of death have been released yet. Myers' movie roles were few. She reportedly had a bit part as a native girl in The Lost Continent (1968) and an undetermined one in Sydney Pollack's They Shoot Horses, Don't They? (1969), a psychological drama set during the Great Depression, and starring Jane Fonda and Michael Sarrazin. In 1970, Myers entered the annals of cult movie history when she was cast as one of the leads in Russ Meyer's Beyond the Valley of the Dolls, written by Roger Ebert and co-starring fellow Playboy Playmate Dolly Read and fashion model Marcia McBroom. Hardly one of the most well-regarded movies ever made, Beyond the Valley of the Dolls »

Anna Kendrick, Terrence Howard And More Join Robert Redford's The Company You Keep

For his last film, The Conspirator, Robert Redford put together one hell of an ensemble cast. Pulling together names like James McAvoy, Robin Wright, Kevin Kline, Evan Racehl Wood, Tom Wilkinson, Justin Long, Danny Huston, James Badge Dale, Stephen Root and about a hundred others, there wasn't a scene where you didn't recognize at least three faces. Sadly the film didn't do to well, receiving lackluster reviews from critics and only managing to pull in $11 million on a $25 million budget, but Redford hopes to turn his luck around on his next film and is crafting quite the ensemble this time around too. The Big Bang is madness. Absolute madness! It's what you get when you start with a noir story, one that writer Erik Jendresen wrote as an homage to Raymond Chandler, and infuse it with the particle physics. I kid you not.

It starts in a room with a man (Antonio Banderas) explaining to three other men (Thomas Kretschmann, William Fichtner, Delroy Lindo) we later find out are cops, the events that have landed him beat up, blind and handcuffed. His name is Ned Cruz and he's an La detective who was hired by an ex-con to track down a retired stripper-turned-penpal he's fallen in love with.
