Netflix has announced the acquisition of Millarworld, Mark Millar’s comic book imprint, with plans to develop its roster of properties for both film and television.

“As creator and re-inventor of some of the most memorable stories and characters in recent history, ranging from Marvel’s The Avengers to Millarworld’s Kick-Ass, Kingsman, Wanted and Reborn franchises, Mark is as close as you can get to a modern day Stan Lee,” said Netflix’s Ted Sarandos. “We can’t wait to harness the creative power of Millarworld to Netflix and start a new era in global storytelling.”

“Warner Bros bought DC Comics in 1968. Disney bought Marvel in 2009. Today Netflix purchased Millarworld and I’m still blinking,” said Millar on his website. “This is only the third time in history a comic-book company purchase on this scale has ever happened… Over the years, Millarworld has amassed twenty different franchises working with »

Paul Bullock Aug 3, 2017

You may have seen Jurassic Park a dozen times, but there loads of details that are easy to miss. Details like these...

Last week, visual effects artist Todd Vaziri took to Twitter to shatter the illusions of Jurassic Park fans everywhere. "When people watch this 24-year old mega-blockbuster," he tweeted, "they point and laugh at the totally obvious disappearing raptor on each viewing, ya?"

What, Todd? The what!?

Alongside this tweet, Vaziri also posted a slowed down Gif of the moment in question and - yep - there it is. During the final set piece, in which the T-Rex (somehow silently) stomps into the Visitor's Centre and gobbles up the Velociraptors, one of the Raptors disappears. Not eaten by the Rex, just gone. One frame, she's there, the next she's not, the following one she's there again. »

Steven Spielberg's Close Encounters Of The Third Kind turns 40 this year. And it's heading back to cinemas...

Close Encounters Of The Third Kind arrived on the scene as an existential alien encounter enlightenment for its characters and – especially during the buildup to its November 1977 release – a new marketing showcase for blockbuster movies, with a release built upon cryptic teases. Appropriately, with the film’s 40th anniversary approaching, a teaser trailer for its re-release proves to be as cryptic as the buildup to its original release.
