The 10 Scariest Christmas Movies Ever

23 December 2010 12:05 PM, PST | MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news »

By Vaughn Trudeau Schoonmaker

There are so many holiday movies out there, one could conceivably spend the rest of one's life watching them back to back... and it's often tempting to give that a shot. For many -- myself included -- there's nothing better than laughing through the first two hilarious installments of "Home Alone" or sobbing through "It's a Wonderful Life" to snap them into the Christmas spirit.

Not everyone is a sucker for feel-good Christmas movie clichés, however. And once in a blue moon, Hollywood (or a Very independent film company elsewhere) pops out a Christmas flick that doesn't feature clumsy burglars falling down stairs or James Stewart tearfully embracing his family. I'm talking about scary Christmas movies, or at least holiday movies that are meant to be frightening but come across as comically ridiculous. The seasonal red and green colors take on new meaning when the red »

'Brothers & Sisters' star Gilles Marini gives Fran Drescher 'a big 'O''

16 December 2010 2:23 AM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Gilles Marini, who plays Luc on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," dropped by "The Fran Drescher Show" to teach the "tawk" show host how to make a holiday dessert on Thursday's (Dec. 16) episode. And from what we hear, it was pretty hot in the kitchen.

Marini showed Fran Drescher how to make a traditional French holiday dessert called a Buche de Noel, which is a cake shaped like a log.

"My father was a pastry chef and he taught me," Marini tells her and then he adds, "I'm a better pastry chef than an actor [or] dancer."

To which the quick-witted Drescher responds, "You notice he didn't say lover!"

The former model also tells Drescher that one of his earliest jobs was as a firefighter. "Can you imagine calling 911," she asks the audience. "And having this guy come to your house?"

That's not even the best parts. Apparently, Marini has been a fan of Drescher for a while. »

'The Fran Drescher Show': Minnie Driver says her son's musical talent takes after his secret dad

10 December 2010 10:47 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

One of our favorite celebrities, Oscar and Emmy-nominated actress and musician, Minnie Driver, dropped in on "The Fran Drescher Show" along with indie icon Liz Phair and producer Marc "Doc" Dauer to perform from their new educational album for kids, "Body Rocks."

Driver has kept her baby daddy's identity secret, only dropping one major hint over the years: He's a musician. Forgive us. In Zap2it's exclusive clip, she tells Fran Drescher that he's an "amazing musician." And it seems that her two-year-old son, Henry, takes after his secret dad and talented mom.

"He came out playing music," Driver says. "He sings. He plays the guitar. He plays the drums. I mean he's two, but he does his very best. He loves it. And his dad is an amazing musician."

We know moms typically believe their kids are above average, but something tells us Driver isn't overstating this one.

Condensed Soup: Fran Drescher's Back! With Her Estrogen Patch!

10 December 2010 3:50 PM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

If you thought (or prayed) you'd seen the last of Fran Drescher after The Nanny went buh-bye, you were wrong. The self-loving cackle, the nails-on-chalkboard New Yawk whine, the aging sexy broad patter is all back in business now that Frannie has her very own talk show. Which is not so great for fans of talk shows, but manna from bloody heaven for Soup clips.  Let Joel McHale soften the re-entry into Drescherdom, and then come back tonight at 10 p.m. Et/Pt when your host rolls out a big fat Soup! »

Ruby Rose first made my radar when she hogged all the screentime in a special about coming out with Matthew Mitcham. But I can’t deny the MTV Australia VJ is a charismatic lady. And as an out and proud lesbian, she’s a heck of a role model for gay youth. Now she’s on the cover of FHM, the first out lesbian to do so.

The U.S. Mint has had some misprints on their fancy new $100 bills. So now they’ve had to quarantine 1.1 billion of them until they can be sorted. That’s a cool $1 trillion just sitting there.

Vanity Fair caught up with Pj Bloom, the musical mastermind behind Glee. A lot of interesting things there, but one quote stands out. Bloom may have been responding to a question about the Christmas album, but his answer is fairly universal, “I’d respond by suggesting subtlety »

3 December 2010 8:55 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Last time we remember seeing them together on TV was on Lifetime's "The Nanny Reunion: A Nosh to Remember" in 2004. Six years later, Charles Shaughnessy (who played her boss, Maxwell Sheffield) and Fran Drescher will reunite Monday, Dec. 6 on her talk show, "The Fran Drescher Show," on Fox.

And what better place for the two who carried their flirtation over six seasons of "The Nanny" to reignite the fire than in bed!

"The Fran Drescher Show" airs on Fox stations in New York, Los Angeles, Philadelphia, Phoenix, Minneapolis and Orlando. Check your local listings or visit FranDrescher.com for more information.

The Nanny fans, rejoice! Fran Drescher is returning to television comedy—and we're not talking about her new chat show on Fox... Twitter: Follow @marcmalkin You may have already heard that the funnylady has been developing Happily Divorced, a TV Land sitcom based on her life with ex-husband Peter Marc Jacobson, who revealed he was gay when they divorced after 21 years of marriage. While the cable network announced earlier this week that Drescher would only write and produce the series, a source now tells me that Drescher has "agreed to star in it, too." Jacobson and Drescher are not only best friends but business partners, too. Jacobson, The Nanny's cocreator, is a »

'The Fran Drescher Show' preview: William Shatner equals baking disaster

2 December 2010 7:00 AM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

If you don't live in one of the six markets in which Fox airs "The Fran Drescher Show," we have a treat for you.

On Thursday's (Dec. 2) episode, Fran Drescher welcomes "Star Trek's" Captain James T. Kirk "$#*! My Dad Says" actor William Shatner and Zap2it has an exclusive clip from his appearance.

If you want to hear how Shatner coped with the death of his wife, you're out of luck. We don't have that clip. But, if you'd like to see him mess up Drescher's carefully planned cooking segment, then you're in the right place.

Basically, Drescher's staff discovered the recipe for "William Shatner's Cappuccino Chocolate Chip Muffins" and they thought it would be a great idea to whip them up during his appearance. Problem is Shatner has never heard of these muffins, but he still decides to give it a go.

AfterElton Briefs: Name Your Bette Midler Favorite, Cheeks Flips the Bully Script, Introducing "Bent-Con," and More!

1 December 2010 4:10 PM, PST | The Backlot | See recent The Backlot news »

Happy Birthday to Bette Midler, who turns sixty-five today. Okay, the question of the day: What's your favorite Bette movie? Is it The Rose, For The Boys or  Beaches? Or is it one of her comedies, such as Ruthless People, The First Wives Club, or Down and Out in Beverly Hills? Or is it the made-for-tv Gypsy or ... Drowning Mona? For me, it's a tie between Outrageous Fortune ("Does the phrase 'needle-dick, the bug-f**ker' mean anything to you?"), and Big Business ("I hate men who smell like beer and bean dip ... and makin' love in the back of recreational vehicles!"). Below you can see Bette on Inside the Actor's Studio, talking about being Disney-fied in the 80's.

Today is World AIDS Day, and here's an article from last year that shows that, believe it or not, the HIV-virus has actually been used to help treat some diseases. Below you »

Trevor Hogg profiles the career of legendary filmmaker Francis Ford Coppola in the fourth of a five-part feature... read parts one, two and three.

“[Preston Tucker] developed plans for a car way ahead of its time in terms of engineering; yet the auto industry at large stubbornly resisted his innovative ideas,” remarked moviemaker Francis Ford Coppola who wanted to do a musical on the life and times of the post-World War II maverick car designer with Leonard Bernstein composing the music. The project was stalled with the financial collapse of Coppola’s studio. “I thought it was the best project Francis had ever been involved with,” stated filmmaker George Lucas (American Graffiti). “No studio in town would touch it; they all said it was too expensive. They all wanted $15 million Three Men and a Baby [1987] movies or Crocodile Dundee, Part 73 sequels.” Lucas agreed to provide the funding for the $24 million budget which »

'Walking Dead' scares up season high numbers; 'Glee' tackles 'Dog Days are Over'

AMC's latest hit "The Walking Dead" keeps on bringing the ratings magic for the network. The Nov. 28 episode brought in the series' best ratings yet, drawing 5.5 million viewers, beating the show's premiere on Halloween and a 15% increase from the previous week's episode. We're guessing next week's season finale will improve on those numbers. [The Hollywood Reporter]

Sectionals are here, Gleeks! The McKinley High glee kids decided to take on a big challenge for their sectionals performance on "Glee" and tackled Florence + The Machine's "Dog Days are Over." Fran Drescher: 'Dancing with the Stars' called, but the price wasn't right

"The Nanny" star Fran Drescher tells Zap2it the time is right for her new talk show premiering on select Fox networks on Nov. 26.

That doesn't mean there haven't been other opportunities to come back to TV. In fact, she has been approached to join the No. 1 show on television, "Dancing with the Stars," but the activist and actress tells us that the price wasn't right.

"I've been asked [to do] 'Dancing With The Stars' in the past," Drescher tells us. "But it's too much of a commitment and not enough money. I have too many things going on. I watch it, but I don't really need to do it. It's just too time consuming."

The new talk show host tells us that we're not the first to tell her she'd rock those bedazzled costumes and probably has quite the dancing ability. "Well, who knows? Maybe I'd last for a while, »

It has all the elements of a classic Hollywood thriller. A black Mercedes Benz with a broken driver’s side window is found late at night crashed into a lamp post on Sunset Blvd in Beverly Hills. Nobody, at least at this writing, has a clue what happened.

Of course, it also has all the elements of a really heartbreaking tragedy, especially to those who knew the woman in that »
