Back in 2007 Seth MacFarlane and his Family Guy team earned rave reviews (not to mention an Emmy Award nomination) for Blue Harvest, their hilarious parody of Star Wars: Episode IV – A New Hope that saw characters from the hit animated show recast into roles from a galaxy far, far away. Two years later it was the turn of The Empire Strikes Back with the sequel Something, Something, Something, Dark Side, and now the circle is complete with this latest offering, It’s a Trap! »

Family Guy: It’S A Trap

Stars (the voices of): Seth MacFarlane, Alex Borstein, Seth Green, Mila Kunis | Written by David A. Goodman, Seth MacFarlane | Directed by Peter Shin

Another year, another Family Guy Star Wars spoof, and as Stewie says at the beginning of the episode: “We’re about to do Jedi, aren’t we?” Yes it’s the last (hopefully) of the animated parody’s of George Lucas’ sci-fi classics, taking on what many see as the lesser of the original trilogy, Return of the Jedi. So does this make for a lesser spoof? Well frankly yes.

The plot follows Jedi pretty closely, with Luke Skywalker (Chris) and Princess Leia (Lois) attempting to free Han Solo (Peter) by infiltrating the palace of Jabba the Hutt (Joe) before teaming up with the Ewoks to take out the Imperial base on Endor, whilst the Emperor (Carter Pewterschmidt) and »

Completing their lampooning rampage across the pop culture cornucopia of George Lucas’s original Star Wars trilogy Family Guy: It’s A Trap! is Seth MacFarlane’s take on Episode VI: Return of the Jedi.

The DVD and Blu-ray of the three special episodes has all the ribald non sequiturs the show is famous for as well as the obligatory celebrity cameos with Patrick Stewart, Michael Dorn from Star Trek and Carrie Fisher gamely jumping into the ring with the Family Guy team for this special.

Here’s an exclusive clip from the DVD extras in which the creators talk about setting up the scene on Jabba’s barge. The Blu-ray and DVD set is out on the 27th of December and we hope to have our review of the set up on HeyUGuys shortly.

And as a special Christmas treat here are some stills to wow friends and amuse grandparents. »

Star Trek: The Next Generation: Casting Memo Shows What Might Have Been

26 August 2010 2:06 PM, PDT | TVSeriesFinale.com | See recent TVSeriesFinale news »

Once a TV show's become successful and been on the air for awhile, it becomes difficult to imagine how other performers could have played the characters.

That's certainly the case with Star Trek: The Next Generation and its memorable cast -- Patrick Stewart (Picard), Jonathan Frakes (Riker), Brent Spiner (Data), LeVar Burton (Geordi), Marina Sirtis (Troi), Denise Crosby (Tasha Yar), Gates McFadden (Crusher), Wil Wheaton (Wesley), and Michael Dorn (Worf).

Still, back in early 1987, those performers weren't locked in to play those roles and had to audition like everybody else. Take a look at this internal memo that The Daily Wh.at dug up that lists the contenders.

There's several interesting things to note...

Picard: All of the candidates have ended up having long careers though obviously Stewart has had the most »

"Fallout: New Vegas" Boasts Radioactively Hot Hollywood Roster

13 August 2010 11:20 AM, PDT | ifc.com | See recent IFC news »

One of gaming's most hallowed role-playing game series experienced a resurgence with 2008's "Fallout 3," which focused on the Capital Wasteland, the remnants of Washington, D.C. in a post-apocalyptic world ravaged by nuclear war. The sprawling tale of the protagonist's search for his father across a landscape populated with disfigured mutants, biker bandits and giant mutated insects won over many.

Ron Perlman has served as narrator in every "Fallout" game, and he was joined in "Fallout 3" by Liam Neeson and Malcolm McDowell in key roles. The Holywood star power wasn't necessarily a key ingredient in the success of "Fallout 3," but the extra polish of those recognizable voices helped increase the sheen of the Bethesda Softworks' great storytelling.

Now, the next installment of the "Fallout" series, "Fallout: New Vegas" moves west and adds a slew of Tinseltown talent. Here's the relevant bit from the press release:

'Fallout: New Vegas' Cast Includes Wayne Newton, Felicia Day And Matthew Perry

10 August 2010 8:00 AM, PDT | MTV Multiplayer | See recent MTV Multiplayer news »

"Fallout: New Vegas" has been raking in the pre-orders — and apparently voice acting talent as well. After appearing in "Vegas Vacation," "Roseanne" and "Full House," Sin City icon Wayne Newton has been unveiled as the game's pre-programmed DJ voice. He'll be accompanied by Felicia Day of "The Guild," "Friends" star Matthew Perry and a geek-friendly list of other names.

"I have never been in a video game before and, frankly, have never played, simply because I have been working my whole life," Newton told USA Today.

Newton's game debut will also feature "Machete" actor Danny Trejo, "Hellboy" headliner Ron Perlman, William Sadler of "The Shawshank Redemption," "Chuck" star Zach Levi and Star Trek franchise veterans Michael Dorn and Rene Auberjonois.

Newton won't be the only veteran singer in the cast, as Kris Kristofferson will join him, though whether or not "New Vegas" will feature a duet with the two of them remains to be seen. »
