It seems like Billy Bush wants to be back on television. In a video posted to his Instagram on Tuesday, the former “Today” and “Billy Bush Show” host sang to the familiar notes of the “Grease” song, “Look at Me, I’m Sandra Dee,” while getting a haircut. “Look at me, I’m Billy B. Christian movies: Starring Nicolas Cage, the widely panned 2014 apocalyptic thriller 'Left Behind' was a box office bomb – unlike (relatively) recent popular 'faith movies' such as 'Heaven Is for Real,' 'Son of God' and 'War Room.' A thought on the New Christian American Cinema: Tired of the blatant propaganda found in 'mainstream' Christian movies Two films that might be called “Christian movies” opened last week, and I decided that I wouldn't watch them, write about them, or review them – at least directly. I'm not even going to mention their titles here because I don't promote propaganda films, and that's what this recent advent of Christian movies has become: propaganda. After all, since nearly all American cinema is Christian cinema, the New Christian American Cinema is in fact pure propaganda – not cinema. Worse yet, it bores me. So, here's the thing about what we've come to call »

The European filmmaker directed a series of deceptively complex melodramas in the 1950s.“This is the dialectic — there is a very short distance between high art and trash, and trash that contains an element of craziness is by this very quality nearer to art” — Douglas Sirk
Douglas Sirk was born in Germany in 1900, and began his career in the early 1920s working in theater. In 1922, he directed his first production — an adaptation of Hermann Bossdorf’s Stationmaster Death, and from then on he became one of the most respected theater directors in Weimar Germany. Then, in 1934, he took a job as a film director at Ufa, the biggest studio in Germany at the time.
In 1941, Sirk left Germany and began working as a director in Hollywood. His early films, such as the WWII drama Hitler’s Madman (1942) have largely been forgotten. These early films varied in genre — he directed war films (Mystery Submarine), historical dramas (A Scandal in Paris), film »

The book was raw & dirty, and did you read what that girl did with that guy on page 167? Racking up a stack of Oscar nominations, Peyton Place became one of the big hits of its year, launched the careers of several young actors, and proved that Hollywood could pasteurize most any so-called un-filmable book. Lana Turner is the nominal star but the leading actress is Diane Varsi, in her film debut.

The pair were laid to rest in a private ceremony in early January (Reynolds was buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Los Angeles alongside Fisher’s ashes, which were in an urn shaped like a Prozac pill), and now the public will have a chance to say goodbye to the iconic actresses in a public memorial service this Saturday.

In a move he hopes will lead to the development of an episodic series about the lives of his parents — iconic “Mack The Knife” singer Bobby Darin and actress Sandra Dee — Dodd Darin has reorganized the management team running the business and creative affairs of the Darin and Dee estates. This comes on the 60th anniversary of the launch of Darin’s career in music, and follows the regional success of the stage show Dream Lover, The Bobby Darin Musical in Sydney… »
2016 was considered quite the horrible year when it came to celebrity deaths, since it claimed many more iconic performers than in years past. It all ended on quite the tragic note, with beloved Star Wars legend Carrie Fisher passing away days after suffering a heart attack on an international flight from London to Los Angeles. Then just one day later, Carrie Fisher's iconic mother Debbie Reynolds passed away at the age of 84. Earlier today, Carrie Fisher's daughter and Debbie Reynolds' granddaughter, actress Billie Lourd, issued her first public statement after losing both her mother and grandmother.
Billie Lourd, who made her feature film debut last year alongside her mother in Star Wars: The Force Awakens, took to Instagram to post a photo of the actress at a very young age with both her mother and granddaughter. She also posted a brief message, thanking fans for all »
