24 September 2017 2:00 AM, PDT | TVovermind.com | See recent TVovermind.com news »

The Han Solo movie is still very much on despite the fact that Ron Howard had to come in and save it from a most terrible death when it’s original directors kind of bailed on the project, or were let go, or whatever. George Lucas was actually a brief consideration to take over but the rumor that he might say yes died out as quickly as the one that said that Danny DeVito would be in the film. So instead we’re going to get something Howard-inspired which, if history tells us anything, should be straight up awesome. Here are some

What Robin Almost Looked Like in Tim Burton's Batman Returns

20 September 2017 7:56 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Tim Burton almost got to play with Robin. But he changed his mind and ditched that concept for his 1992 sequel Batman Returns. The movie was already stuffed with perhaps one too many characters, with the follow-up to 1989's blockbuster hit Batman introducing Penguin and Catwoman. While we wouldn't see Robin until 1995's Batman Forever, we now have an idea of what Tim Burton's Robin would have looked like.

Robin is an elusive character. When 1989's Batman was being produced, comic book fans warned that the character was too goofy for such a serious take on the material. And he was left on the sidelines. But Tim Burton toyed with introducing the character in his next movie. And thanks to Bart Sears Twitter, we have an idea what that may have looked like.

The movie brought Michael Keaton back as the caped crusader, and cast high profile actors Michelle Pfeiffer »

According to Variety, CBS is developing a TV adaptation of L.A. Confidential, which is based upon James Ellroy’s novel of the same name, with Jordan Harper (The Mentalist, Gotham) set to write and executive produce.

The 1990 novel was adapted for the big screen in 1997, with Curtis Hanson directing a cast that included Guy Pearce, Kim Basinger, Russel Crowe, Kevin Spacey, James Cromwell, and Danny DeVito. It won two Oscars – Best Supporting Actress (Basinger) and Best Adapted Screenplay (Hanson and Brian Helgeland) – and was nominated for a further seven, including Best Picture.

Following the success of the movie, a TV pilot was shot with Kiefer Sutherland and Eric Roberts starring, but it failed to get a series pickup and was included as a bonus feature on the film’s DVD and Blu-ray release. Ellroy also attempted to get a sequel series off the ground back in 2013, but was unsuccessful. »

A One Flew Over The Cuckoo's Nest prequel series about Nurse Ratched is heading to Netflix, starring Sarah Paulson...

The best thing we can do is go on with our daily routine. The meeting was adjourned and the vote was closed, and Netflix is pre-empting the last game of the World Series to bring a Nurse Ratched series to TV.

American Horror Story’s Ryan Murphy and Sarah Paulson will reunite for a new prequel show focusing on the origins of One Flew Over The Cuckoo’s Nest’s top psychiatric administrator.

Paulson will play a younger version of the emotionally-distant Salem State Hospital nurse, who was introduced in Ken Kesey's 1962 novel. In the original film, Nurse Ratched was played by Louise Fletcher, who won an Academy Award for Best Actress for it. Fletcher had only acted once in the 13 years before she was cast. »

Looking for a film to watch, that you might not have considered before? Try some of these...

Sometimes, we figure, you come to a site like this just to find out about a film you didn’t know about. That you want recommendations of movies that you might not otherwise have uncovered. This list, then, has no theme, save that the films on it are really good, and didn’t get much of an audience first time around. That, or they seem to have been forgotten. The Brady Bunch films never really seemed to do much business in the UK, and that’s a real pity. No foreknowledge of the series is required, and the first movie takes the Brady film and transplants them into 1990s America, with no »
