Post-Production Has Officially Wrapped On Star Wars: The Last Jedi’

22 September 2017 9:59 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Writer/ director Rian Johnson has taken to the socials to confirm that post-production work on Star Wars: The Last Jedi has officially wrapped.

Writing on Instagram, the Looper and Brick director said: “Aaaand that’s a wrap on the hardest working post production team in the galaxy. Going to miss sitting in dark rooms with these goobers.”

The film is not due in cinemas for another three months, so Johnson is well ahead of schedule. We guess that now the hardest part of the job starts – promotion.

What we are due though, is a new trailer as so far we’ve only been treated to the teaser, which debuted online months ago back in April. »

Carrie Fisher’s daughter Billie Lourd auditioned for Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens

13 September 2017 2:55 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

The daughter of the late Carrie Fisher, Billie Lourd, auditioned for the part of Rey in Star Wars: The Force Awakens.

With Star Wars: The Last Jedi on the not too far distant horizon, the usual Star Wars chatter is only going to increase, and we have learnt an interesting little piece of behind the scenes history this week thanks to Billie Lourd.

Lourd, speaking on The Ellen Show, revealed that director of Episode VII, J.J. Abrams, asked her to come in and read for the starring role of Rey, which would eventually go to Daisy Ridley.

J.J. Abrams called me to come in for Star Wars because he couldn’t find someone for the lead,” Lourd explained. “He ended up finding Daisy Ridley who’s an incredible actress, so talented. But I went in and he ended up giving me this tiny role with a couple of lines. I was super excited. »

“You know, what I can tell you is that my very good friend, the actor Joseph Gordon-Levitt, who was in a movie I did called Looper, he does a cameo as a voice of an alien in the film,” said Johnson. “It’s a very brief, little thing but it’s fun, and if you watch the movie maybe you’ll be able to hear and pick out Joe’s voice in the movie.”

Star Wars director Rian Johnson says Luke Skywalker is The Last Jedi

7 September 2017 12:06 PM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Since the title of Star Wars: Episode VIII was first announced as Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there’s been a lot of speculation as to which character – or characters – the title refers to: is it Luke Skywalker? Rey? Both? Well, speaking to The New York Times, director Rian Johnson has provided a definitive answer, stating that:

“It’s in the opening crawl of Star Wars: The Force Awakens,” said Johnson. “Luke Skywalker, right now, is the last Jedi. There’s always wiggle room in these movies — everything is from a certain point of view — but coming into our story, he is the actual last of the Jedi. And he’s removed himself and is alone on this island, for reasons unknown.”

Johnson also discussed Luke’s ominous “It’s time for the Jedi to end” line from the teaser trailer, stating that: “That’s [Luke]. It sounds pretty dire. »

Mark Hamill pitched an “Evil Twin” scenario for Star Wars: The Last Jedi

7 September 2017 5:21 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Mark Hamill has either debunked a huge rumor surrounding Star Wars: The Last Jedi, or he is the internet’s biggest troll this week. Talking to Empire, Hamill spoke up about a soap-opera scenario he had pitched to Lucasfilm for The Last Jedi:

Oh baby, would I love to play my own evil twin! It’d be great because you could maybe not reveal it’s Evil Luke until the real Luke shows up. We could watch this guy undermining the good guys secretly, maybe even killing a supporting character out of everyone’s sight so they all go, ‘What’s going on? He’s crazy!’ And then, of course, the good Luke shows up.”

While rumors haven’t factored in an evil twin, many have been wondering if Luke Skywalker had succumbed to the Dark Side in the upcoming Star Wars film. From the red-color of the logo, Luke »

Rian Johnson reveals Snoke’s past will remain a mystery in Star Wars: The Last Jedi, says writing Kylo Ren is “fun”

6 September 2017 4:32 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

With just a few months to go until the release of Star Wars: The Last Jedi, there are still several questions surrounding the film, particularly over the Sequel Trilogy’s central villains. J.J. Abrams didn’t reveal much about Supreme Leader Snoke in The Force Awakens, and it seems director Rian Johnson isn’t looking to elaborate any further either.

In his interview with Empire, Johnson likened Snoke’s presence to that of Palpatine’s in the Original Trilogy, where audiences only knew of his position, power and danger in those films: “We got the whole story of Palpatine’s rise to power in the prequels, but in the original films he’s exactly what he needs to be, which is just ‘The Emperor. He’s a dark force: the scary thing behind the thing. That was entirely how I approached Snoke. I wasn’t interested in explaining where he »

C-3Po Actor Doesn't Even Like Jar Jar Binks

5 September 2017 2:20 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

There are a handful of truly legendary figures in the Star Wars universe, but Anthony Daniels, the man behind C-3Po, is very near the top of the hill. The man has appeared in every single live-action Star Wars movie to date. A streak that is set to continue with Star Wars: The Last Jedi. Another legend, for a different reason, is Ahmed Best, who portrayed Jar Jar Binks in the Star Wars prequels. As it turns out, Daniels feels similar to many fans out there, as he admits that he isn't a fan of the maligned Gungan.

Anthony Daniels recently appeared at Fan Expo 2017 and, as reported by Space, he discussed Jar Jar Binks a bit. While Daniels wanted to make it clear that he has a lot of respect for Ahmed Best as an actor and that he understands that Jar Jar wasn't a character meant to resonate with adults, »
