25 July 2016 9:55 AM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

Chadwick Boseman is no longer the newest addition to the Marvel family - that honor now goes to Brie Larson - but he still hasn't gotten used to the glaring spotlight that comes with being in one of the largest franchises in history. Boseman appeared during Marvel's megapanel at Comic-Con over the weekend and was welcomed by thousands of fans screaming his name, kids dressed up as Black Panther, and some hard-hitting questions about Captain America: Civil War (out Sept. 13) from yours truly. Here's what he had to say about his fans, Robert Downey Jr., and that end-credits scene. Popsugar: What has it been like being at Comic-Con knowing you're representing such an important character like Black Panther? Chadwick Boseman: I didn't quite know what to expect. I heard it was a lot of people, but when you see it - Ps: Could you see it? Cb: Yeah the »

Movie Review – Born to Be Blue (2015)

20 July 2016 8:30 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

Born to Be Blue, 2015.

Directed by Robert Budreau.

Starring Ethan Hawke, Carmen Ejogo, Callum Keith Rennie and Stephen McHattie.

Synopsis:

The career of jazz musician Chet Baker (Ethan Hawke) looks to be over.  He’s addicted to cocaine and a savage beating makes playing the trumpet almost impossible.  But he’s determined to get back to the top.

A second jazz movie in just three months.  First it was Don Cheadle’s personal project, Miles Ahead. Now the spotlight switches to his contemporary, Chet Baker, in Born to Be Blue, and it’s easy enough to draw a few parallels.

Both films are named after famous tracks from the musicians and Davis (Kedar Brown) puts in a handful of appearances in the Baker movie.  More significantly, both titles trace their proverbial wilderness years, when they separately dropped off the music radar, and there’s some similarities in the approaches taken by their respective directors, »

19 July 2016 2:54 PM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Don Cheadle’s “Miles Ahead” follows legendary trumpeter, bandleader, and composer Miles Davis (played by Cheadle himself), one of 20th century music’s creative geniuses. In the midst of a prolific career, Davis disappears from public view in the late 1970’s. Living in isolation, he struggles with chronic pain from a deteriorating hip, a voice inhibited by drugs and alcohol, and traumatic memories from his troubled past. One day, music reporter Dave Braden (Ewan McGregor) forces his way into Davis’ house and the two men embark on an adventure to recover a stolen tape recording of Davis’ most recent compositions. The film also stars Emayatzy Corinealdi (“Middle of Nowhere”), Michael Stuhlbarg (“A Serious Man”) Keith Stanfield (“Selma”), Austin Lyon (“The Diary of a Teenage Girl”), and more. Watch an exclusive behind-the-scenes featurette from the film below that discusses Cheadle’s commitment to the role.

Spider-Man Vs. Giant-Man in Civil War Concept Art

18 July 2016 1:46 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Last May, when production began on Captain America: Civil War, many were surprised when Paul Rudd was announced to return as Ant-Man in this Marvel Phase Three adventure. However, it started to make more sense after Ant-Man hit theaters with a post credit scene that tied into Civil War. As production was under way, there had been several rumors swirling that Ant-Man may transform into Giant Man, which is exactly what happened in this blockbuster, and today we have early concept art from part of this scene.

The artwork comes courtesy of artist Andy Park's Twitter, revealing that when he painted these keyframes, he thought, "Holy Cow we're gonna see this on film?!" Ant-Man transformed into Giant Man during the massive airport fight sequence between Team Cap and Team Iron Man. While Giant-Man certainly helped Team Cap get the upper hand, it was Spider-Man who used an idea from that "old movie, »

Back in May, the summer movie season kicked off with Marvel's blockbuster Captain America: Civil War, which has taken in over $1.1 billion worldwide. There will be plenty of spoilers for Civil War II, No. 3 below, so read on at your own risk.

The top 25 films of Jeff Daniels

Dan Cooper Jul 8, 2016

From Dumb & Dumber and The Martian, through to Arachnophobia and Steve Jobs - we salute the screen work of Jeff Daniels...

They say that when you play the Game of Thrones, “you win or you die”. The Game of Jeff Daniels, however, is an undeniably different beast and for the most part is a definite “you win or you win”. After viewing dozens of Jeff Daniels movies and spending many, many hours with his on-screen personas, it’s fair to say that the maxim has been sorely tested but guess what? It still holds true. This list has been carefully curated to celebrate the veteran actor’s talent, versatility and wit and no matter which (if any) of these movies you decide to revisit or check out for the first time, Jeff is guaranteed to give you something to love in each and every one.
