Collider Goes to Dinner With Mike Judge

21 December 2009 8:20 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

There are two sides to Mike Judge in Hollywood. There’s the TV star, who took a ton of heat but came out as one of the most daring and biting voices of satire in the 1990’s with Beavis and Butthead, and the successful maistream animator with a thirteen season run of the folksy and engaging King of the Hill. Then there’s the film director, who was cajoled into the theatrical Beavis and Butthead Do America, but has worked in live action ever since. He made two films for 20th Century Fox to see them abandoned theatrically, only for both 1999’s Office Space and 2006’s Idiocracy to now be regaled as cult classics. His most recent film, 2009’s Extract did not set the film world afire (Extract is now available on DVD and Blu-ray), but it showed a less biting Judge doing what he does best: everyday life comedy. »

'Hot Tub Time Machine' promises a new level of awesome

When funnymen Craig Robinson ("The Office"), Rob Corddry, Clark Duke ("Greek") and Chevy Chase ("Community") come together for a weekend of fun one can expect almost anything.

Throw in John Cusack and you have a hit no matter what the film's premise -- and this one happens to be all about traveling in time via a "Hot Tub Time Machine." lt looks hilarious but then again, 1986 was a good time, remember?

New trailers for 'Iron Man 2' and 'Hot Tub Time Machine'

17 December 2009 10:57 AM, PST | Tampa Film Examiner | See recent Tampa Film Examiner news »

As 2009 comes to an end, studios are releasing their new trailers for the upcoming year.  Iron Man 2 debuted on iTunes today after a viral campaign challenging people to unravel clues to unlock the first official trailer.  Iron Man was a pleasant surprise two summers ago, earning over $300 million at the domestic box office. The sequel, which opens on May 7th, should perform well and easily break $250 million.

Check out the trailer.

Another flick that had its trailer debut today was a comedy starring John Cusack titled Hot Tub Time Machine.  MGM is releasing the flick sometime in March 2010, with the hopes that it will be a hit.  Now that's an obvious statement, but MGM is a studio that may not survive much longer unless things start picking up.  Judging from the below trailer, this flick has a shot to make some loot.  Boasting a great cast that also includes Chevy Chase, »

First Two Trailers For ‘Hot Tub Time Machine’

17 December 2009 8:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

There are some pretty great, and some pretty awful movie titles out there. From something long like Bad Lieutenant: Port of Call New Orleans to The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, some titles just don’t work. Luckily, a few good screenwriters feel the same way, and bring us Hot Tub Time Machine.

The premise sounds pretty much like bliss once you hear the names involved. Four guys decide to bond on a ski trip and party hard all night on Red Bull and Vodka. They continue the night in the house’s hot tub, which transports them to 1986, where hi-jinks then ensue.

The aforementioned names involved are John Cusack, Craig Robinson (The Office, Zach and Miri Make a Porno), Clark Duke (Sex Drive, Superbad), and Rob Corddry (What Happens in Vegas, Harold and Kumar 2). The film basically looks like The Hangover meets Back to the Future, with a little »

Yep, the full trailer for Steve Pink's new sci-fi comedy, Hot Tub Time Machine, has finally arrived in all it's cheeky glory. Personally I think I liked the foul-mouthed teaser better, but this trailer still made me laugh my a** off and I actually think it could be pretty funny.

Synopsis:

After a crazy night of drinking in a ski resort hot tub, the men wake up, heads’ pounding, in the year 1986. This is their chance to kick some past and change their futures – one will find a new love life, one will learn to stand up for himself with the ladies, one will find his mojo, and one will make sure he still exists!

Exclusive: Jack Black to guest star on 'Community'

14 December 2009 12:10 PM, PST | Zap2It - From Inside the Box | See recent Zap2It - From Inside the Box news »

It was exactly a year ago this week that the news of Jack Black's February 1st cameo on "The Office" broke and the web was abuzz with excitement over it. Well, apparently history is sort of repeating itself.

Sources tell Korbi TV about yet another scheduled Jack Black sitcom appearance, saying the "Tropic Thunder" actor has signed on to guest in a January episode of the Chevy Chase/Joel McHale comedy "Community."

"Community" -- which follows a manipulative, young lawyer (McHale) whose is disbarred and forced to attend a local community college where he befriends a band of misfits -- has been gaining critical praise throughout the season.

It could, however, use a bit of a boost in ratings.

Thank you, Jack Black.

Black is not the only big name lending a hand. We're told another high profile film actor, best known for his comedy hits at the box office, »

Go Behind the Scenes of Tonight’s ‘Community’

10 December 2009 11:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

We’ve been bringing you plenty of clips this week from tonight’s Christmas episode of NBC’s Community. This marks a pretty big episode for the freshman series, seeing as its their first Christmas episode, their final episode of 2009, and even special guest Anthony Michael Hall stops by to play “Bully Mike.”

This episode also marks the first time both Anthony Michael Hall and series regular Chevy Chase have been on screen together since National Lampoon’s Vacation back in 1983. The folks over at NBC were thoughtful enough to put together a behind-the-scenes package of tonight’s episode, “Comparative Religion,” and we’ve got that for you today.

In the episode, the gang gets ready for finals, as well as the winter break, while Abed crosses paths with the school’s resident bully (Michael Hall), while Jeff (Joel McHale) decides to get involved to protect his friend. Meanwhile, Shirley »

Anthony Michael Hall Guest Stars As “Mike The Bully” In a New ‘Community’ Clip

8 December 2009 9:00 AM, PST | The Flickcast | See recent The Flickcast news »

Yesterday, we brought you a brand new clip from this week’s episode of Community entitled “Comparative Religion.” In this week’s episode, the A-story is about Shirley’s (Yvette Nicole Brown) Christmas party, while the B-story is about Mike the Bully (guest star Anthony Michael Hall) tormenting Joel McHale and the gang.

The Breakfast Club alum makes his first guest appearance in what could prove to be a recurring role in the series, as a middle-aged, mustachioed tough-guy who doesn’t seem to like the male members of the study group.

In this clip, Mike sets his sights on Abed (Danny Pudi) after all the Christmas cookies are gone. Jeff (Joel McHale) decides to do the right thing and step in. This episode also marks the first time that Anthony Michael Hall and series regular Chevy Chase have shared a screen since they played father and son in 1983’s National Lampoon’s Vacation. »

Review: Everybody’S Fine

4 December 2009 4:00 AM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

It’s early December and folks are beginning to slide into the full holiday spirit. With 21 days until Christmas, we’re not quite ready for the traditional movie fare. Jimmy Stewart, 34th Street and the 24-hour Christmas Story marathon aren’t quite ready to take out of the oven, but Everybody’S Fine arrives just in time, and it’s just the right recipe to ease us into the proper mood. Unlike the comical antics of Chevy Chase’s Christmas Vacation or the sappy old Wonderful Life, Everybody’S Fine isn’t technically a holiday movie at all. The holiday itself has an extremely small, supplementary role in the story, but it’s the events that lead up to the ending that make it a perfect movie to lead us gently into what this time of year is all about.

Everybody’S Fine stars Robert De Niro as Frank, an »
