Kill Bill: The five manners of fighting in Tarantino’s kung fu opus

22 December 2012 2:15 PM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

If Tarantino’s films of the 1990s announced the writer-director’s as a phenom for writing formidably snappy dialogue that enhanced characterization, his films of the 00s, while continuing to demonstrate the aforementioned writing prowess, suggest that he is equally adept at staging and filming wonderful action scenes, be they brawls, gun fights or contests  of martial arts skills. Death Proof and Django Unchained have their share of impressive set pieces representing unique visions of what, in the case of the former, a cinematic car chase can be like, and,  in the case of the latter, what a cinematic gun fight shoot out can be like. In essence, pretty darn sweet.

In both cases, even though Tarantino and his crack team definitely put their own spin on such action set pieces, the ingenuity that went into both was inspired by movies which made names for themselves in the annals of film history. »

Well you know what they say, if anyone can do it, Jackie can and he certainly as done it again. According to reports issued by the official Movie Zodiac on Weibo, Chinese Zodiac had a record breaking opening day in China, with a box office of 43.5 million Yuan.

The first couple of reviews suggested that Jackie’s latest offering wasn’t so great and it lacked any real action, but i don’t listen to one person’s views and i am glad i was right. Jackie Chan as once again shown he is the real deal at the box office and with movies such as Police Story 2013 on the way, i cant see it stopping any time soon.

Jackie Chan reprises his role as adventurer and treasure hunter Asian Hawk, who is seeking to repatriate twelve bronze heads of the animals of the Chinese zodiac that were looted »

Jackie Chan Latest Man Joining Manfest 'Expendables 3'

19 December 2012 9:01 AM, PST | NextMovie | See recent NextMovie news »

During a press conference for the action adventure film "CZ12" (also known as "Chinese Zodiac"), superstar Jackie Chan announced his involvement in yet another rough-and-tumble flick: "Expendables 3"—on one condition.

"Sly had invited me to be in 'Expendables 2' but I was too busy filming CZ12 and couldn't make a commitment to the film. But he did extend his invitation to the third movie, which I agreed on the condition that I will be appearing as more than just a minor role with a few scenes," the actor quipped. We gotta say, we can't blame him. We'd want guaranteed screen time too.

Though the "Expendables 3" doesn't have a release date stenciled in, we think it must be gaining momentum pretty quickly if Stallone is driving this bus. Because he likes to drive fast, and his stars are getting… umm… how shall we put this? Old. Extremely experienced.
