New Comic-Con Trailer + Poster for Wag's 'The Lego Ninjago Movie'

1 hour ago | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"A true ninja knows when to fight, and when to blend in the shadows." With Comic-Con underway, Warner Bros has debuted another new trailer for The Lego Ninjago Movie at the comic book convention in San Diego. This latest Lego Movie from Warner Animation Group, arriving in theaters this fall, tells the story of six young ninjas who must go back to their ninjas root to defend their island called Ninjago. Jackie Chan voices Sensei Wu, their master and ninja teacher. The rest of the main voice cast includes Olivia Munn, Dave Franco, Michael Peña, Abbi Jacobson, Zach Woods, Kumail Nanjiani, Fred Armisen, and Justin Theroux as the evil Garmadon. This looks as good as the previous two Lego movies, with as much humor and action and wacky, fun quirks thrown in - like the cat at the end of the trailer. I'm down for this. Here's the full Comic-Con »

Preacher season 2 episode 4 review: Viktor

Ron Hogan Jul 11, 2017

Once again, Preacher finds a way to make violence entirely too much fun in the latest bold episode...

This review contains spoilers.

See related  Fargo season 3 episode 1 review: The Law Of Vacant Places

2.4 Viktor

There are a lot of things you can say that Preacher has done that not a lot of other shows can claim. It's shot off more penises than any other show on basic cable. It's a show with a vampire that isn't a show specifically about vampires. It's killed more people in three episodes this season than every Godfather movie combined. However, one of the weirdest things you can say about Preacher is that it's made Hitler into a likable character. Yes, Eugene, that Hitler.

In the world of Preacher, Hell is an interesting place. It's essentially a combination of solitary confinement in a modern-day prison mixed with a little bit of the paranormal waiting room in Beetlejuice. »

China Box Office: ‘Despicable Me 3’ Opening Is Franchise High

9 July 2017 3:56 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

The delayed release of “Despicable Me 3” comfortably dominated the box office in China over the weekend, running off with $63.5 million according to Ent Group, a Chinese box office tracker, and $66 million according to Universal.

Those numbers were a record opening for an animated film in China and the fifth-biggest opening weekend of any film in China this year. It was also the biggest animated opening in China for IMAX. The film earned $4 million of its weekend total from 417 IMAX screens in China.

The score was achieved from 97,000 screenings Friday and 115,000 on each of Saturday and Sunday.

The weekend total is also bigger than the lifetime score achieved by “Despicable Me 2,” which was the first film in the franchise to be released in China.

Second place belonged to the strongest of a large bunch of Chinese-made new releases. Horror franchise movie “The House That Never Dies II” scored $20.8 million in four days, having »

Beyond ‘Baby Driver’: 4 Action Genres Every Diehard Fan Must Know

7 July 2017 10:41 AM, PDT | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

When Anthony Bourdain took issue with “Baby Driver” in a blunt tweet a few days after the movie’s release, the celebrity chef was advocating for another kind of action movie experience. He followed up his initial outburst by singling out “The Raid,” the bloody Indonesian martial arts film, as a superior movie. Whether or not the comparison is fair, Bourdain did hit on two crucial factors with respect to the action genre — it is big, and it is global. No discerning viewer can truly claim complete knowledge of the genre before at least getting familiar with the range of possibilities around the world.

Here are the four essential subgenres every diehard fan should know. If Bourdain traveled the world going to film festivals in search of authentic regional action films, instead of food, these are the sorts of kickass flavors likely to entice him.
