Happy Birthday, Sarah Jessica Parker! Can you believe the Sex and the City star is ringing in the big 5-0 today? It seems as if no time has passed since the actress stole our hearts on the hit HBO series, which aired from 1998 to 2004 and is currently in syndication on E!. From Carrie Bradshaw's (Parker) rollercoaster relationship with Mr. Big (Chris Noth) to her unbreakable friendships with Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Samantha (Kim Cattrall) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), Sex and the City taught us many life lessons (how else would we know to drink cosmos and wear Manolos?) and will always have a special place in our hearts. Sarah Jessica Parker, the Emmy-winning actress and fashion maven, is 50 today. If you watched Carrie Bradshaw strut her way through her late '30s on HBO's "Sex and the City" and deal with the pangs of married life in the two subsequent feature releases, Sjp's 50th birthday feels like kind of a big deal. In your best Kim Cattrall voice, you coo, "I'll drink to that!" To celebrate, let's pick Sjp's most underrated role. My pick is below. "L.A. Story." 1991. Not nearly as watched anymore as it should be. Sjp's character SanDeE is one-of-a-kind, a loopy wannabe model whose space cadet antics are at once frustrating and lovable. The explanation for the curious spelling of her name is priceless, and Steve Martin (naturally) responds quizzically. What's your favorite Sjp role? »

In a new interview with The Guardian, the 32-year-old Irish actor looks back on the characters he's played -- specifically Paul Spector, the psychopathic murderer in the BBC2 series The Fall, and of course, Christian Grey -- and admits it "worries" him.
"I consider myself quite light-hearted, pretty easy-going, and I keep playing sick psychopath bastards!" he says. "It kinda worries me sometimes how comfortable I am in that zone."

To this day, the handsome former Calvin Klein underwear model still can't believe he's in the much talked-about adaptation of E.L. James' bestselling erotic novel.
"There are times when I’ll be like: 'Huh, someone made a Fifty Shades movie, that's funny.' And then I’ll be like: 'Wait, I'm the guy?!'" he shares.
Clearly, Dornan »
The film adaptation of Fifty Shades Of Grey has inspired its fair share of loud detractors. Some thought it was too raunchy, some didn.t think it was raunchy enough, and then there were other moviegoers who just thought that it was a tedious melodrama packed with hammy acting, and a weak plot that cynically exploited hollow sex appeal to generate hundreds of millions of dollars at the box office. As it turns out, one of the film.s harshest critics is Sex and the City actress Kim Cattrall, who has not only claimed not to not have interest in seeing the film, but has blamed that lack of interest on male lead Jamie Dornan. The actress, whose Samantha character in the aforementioned beloved television series and films was particularly well-versed in the act of love-making, recently told the Independent that director Sam Taylor-Johnson.s recent adaptation of E.L. »
She doesn't find former Calvin Klein underwear model Jamie Dornan, who plays the super-hot S&M-loving billionaire Christian Grey in the film, attractive.
"Maybe it's my age, but he doesn't look like a man to me," the former Sex and the City star, 58, tells The Independent bluntly. "He looks like a young boy. I like men to look like men. I saw the preview and you know they say in three seconds you can tell if you find someone attractive or not? Well, I just thought, 'No.'"

Though perhaps if the film had allowed the 32-year-old Dornan keep his scruff, she might have changed her mind!
Dornan himself addressed his boyish looks in a recent interview with Glamour for their March 2015 issue, when he admitted »
Rugged Brendan Gleeson on the other hand...
The Sex and the City star told the Irish Independent: "Maybe it's my age, but [Dornan] doesn't look like a man to me.
"He looks like a young boy. I like men to look like men. I saw the preview and you know they say in three seconds you can tell if you find someone attractive or not? Well, I just thought, 'No'."
But an actor fulfilling her red-blooded manly request is Calvary actor Gleeson.
"Now, if he were Brendan Gleeson - well, there's a little something going on there, you know, the twinkle in the eye..."
On a rumoured third Sex and the City movie, she insisted: "Well, Sam is behind me in the sense that it's over. »
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion! Kim Cattrall revealed to The Independent that she doesn’t find Jamie Dornan hot. "Maybe it's my age, but he doesn't look like a man to me," the 58-year-old admitted. "He looks like a young boy. I like men to look like men.” In fact, she has no desire to see the actor’s steamy S&M flick Fifty Shades of Grey. “I saw the preview and you know they say in three seconds you can tell if you find someone attractive or not? Samantha Jones has always been one of a kind, although we have to say this geniuinely surprised us. Sex and the City star Kim Cattrall, whose onscreen character was known for her insatiable sexual appetite, will officially shock her fans when they read this next statement: She doesn't find Jamie Dornan attractive. That's right, Samantha Jones doesn't find Christian Grey smokin' hot. "Maybe it's my age, but he doesn't look like a man to me," she tells The Independent. "He looks like a young boy. I like men to look like men." She is so unimpressed with him and his looks, in fact, that she won't even go see Fifty Shades of Grey! "I saw the preview and »

No one loves a great scene more than the person who first dreamed it up -- the writer. We're asking iconic shows' creators and writers to tell ETonline all about the moment on their series that they most cherished getting to see make it from script to screen.
“You have to put yourself in the mindset of the late-‘90s, where this sort of thing was not done on television,” Sex and the City creator Darren Star tells ETonline of the HBO comedy that first premiered in 1998 and would eventually run six seasons, spawn two films, and make Carrie Bradshaw a household name.
The show’s frankness and humor about sex was both iconic and revolutionary. Yet, in the first season, hardly anyone watched the adventures of Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis), Miranda (Cynthia Nixon), and Samantha (Kim Cattrall).

Elsewhere on late night, the singer revisited another classic impression – her impeccable Kim Cattrall. Is she vying for another SNL hosting gig?

Simone Simon in 'La Bête Humaine' 1938: Jean Renoir's film noir (photo: Jean Gabin and Simone Simon in 'La Bête Humaine') (See previous post: "'Cat People' 1942 Actress Simone Simon Remembered.") In the late 1930s, with her Hollywood career stalled while facing competition at 20th Century-Fox from another French import, Annabella (later Tyrone Power's wife), Simone Simon returned to France. Once there, she reestablished herself as an actress to be reckoned with in Jean Renoir's La Bête Humaine. An updated version of Émile Zola's 1890 novel, La Bête Humaine is enveloped in a dark, brooding atmosphere not uncommon in pre-World War II French films. Known for their "poetic realism," examples from that era include Renoir's own The Lower Depths (1936), Julien Duvivier's La Belle Équipe (1936) and Pépé le Moko (1937), and particularly Marcel Carné's Port of Shadows (1938) and Daybreak (1939).
