IFC Films is on a buying tear. While the company is usually scouring Cannes for new foreign titles, they're announcing various deals to acquire American independents on the Croisette as they prepare for the international debut of David Lowery's Sundance hit "Ain't Them Bodies Saints" in Critics Week on May 18. IFC obviously had been talking about acquiring U.S. rights from to Ari Posin's "The Face of Love" since its well-received SXSW debut (under the title "The Look of Love," the same title as the IFC Sundance pickup directed by Michael Winterbottom). The romantic mystery stars Annette Bening as a widow who falls hard for an art teacher (Ed Harris) who doesn't know that he happens to be a dead ringer for her late husband. Robin Williams, Jess Weixler and Amy Brenneman also star in the film produced by Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn at Mockingbird Pictures. IFC is planning a September 2013 release. »

Breaking: IFC Films acquired U.S. rights to the Arie Posin-directed The Face Of Love, which stars Annette Bening, Ed Harris, Robin Williams, Jess Weixler and Amy Brenneman. Bonnie Curtis and Julie Lynn at Mockingbird Pictures produced the project. The company is planning a September 2013 release. Exclusive Media is handling international rights. The plot: Five years after losing the love her life, Nikki (Bening) falls in love at first sight. Tom (Harris) is an art teacher with a kind heart and a zest for life. Unbeknownst to him, he’s also practically an exact lookalike of her dead husband. “I was incredibly fortunate to have Annette Bening and Ed Harris in front of the camera; their brilliance and unflinching search for the truth was a constant inspiration,” Posin said. IFC’s Arianna Bocco made the deal with Wme and CAA repping the filmmakers. »

Trevor Hogg chats with Academy Award winner William Goldenberg about the nervousness and excitement he experienced while collaborating with Michael Mann for the first time....
“Michael [Mann] is the most meticulous director I have ever worked with to the point of obsession,” states William Goldenberg who has collaborated with Ben Affleck (Gone Baby Gone, Argo), Kathryn Bigelow (Zero Dark Thirty), Gary Ross (Seabiscuit, Pleasantville) and Michael Bay (Transformers: Dark of the Moon). “When we did The Insider [1999] we shot in almost every location where the actual event happened. He would want to make sure down to what tie, ring or watch the actors had on; it is complete authenticity at any price.” Goldenberg is impressed by the ability of Mann to have the stamina and wherewithal to write and director while still having the energy to pay attention to detail. “When Michael watches dailies he sits with a tape or digital »

Private Practice got out while the going was good. While it was still popular, the Grey’s Anatomy spin-off ended after its sixth season, wrapping up storylines and leaving viewers with the good feeling that the characters will go on just fine.
The medical TV show stars Kate Walsh (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) as Dr. Addison Montgomery, ex-wife of Grey’s Dr. Derek Shepherd, working in a Los Angeles office filled with other brilliant doctors trying to juggle work and life.
Also in the cast are Benjamin Bratt (La Mission), Taye Diggs (Equilibrium), Amy Brenneman (Mother and Child), KaDee Strickland (The Family That Preys), Paul Adelstein (TV’s Prison Break) and Tim Daly (TV’s The Sopranos), although Daly was off the show at the end of season five.

Last May it was announced that Kate Walsh would be leaving Private Practice after 13 episodes, leading many to believe that the show would be cancelled. ABC reps say that the show's fate hasn't been decided yet. It will likely depend heavily on the ratings.

The end of "Private Practice" begins with Addison (Kate Walsh) talking into a video camera about marriage and that second wedding...
Wedding bells and only minimal drama
That's right -- Addison and Jake (Benjamin Bratt) are getting married! And they do. Seriously, the whole ceremony goes off with no drama whatsoever, just a bunch of camera flashes and smiling friends. Even Naomi (Audra McDonald) makes it in time for the ceremony.
Nothing could go wrong, right? Well, the happy couple does fine. Naomi and Sam (Taye Diggs), however, do some bad, bad things in a motel room. Maybe all isn't perfect in Naomi's paradise...
13 weeks later... drama!
The wedding was so idyllic and happy and perfect and all that "Private Practice" can't dwell on it. Drama must ensue! Fortunately, drama comes exactly 13 weeks later. And oh, is there drama!

After six seasons of medical emergencies and emotional drama, "Private Practice" is coming to an end. We spoke to series co-star Amy Brenneman about what was coming in the finale and what it was like to leave Seaside Wellness after so many years.
How are you feeling at the end of 'Private Practice'?
Amy Brenneman: Sad! I mean, we wrapped the show about a month ago, so I went through that goodbye already. But I was thinking -- there's today and next week and then that's really it. Another ending.
What was it like for you and everyone else at 'Private Practice' when you wrapped the show?
Amy Brenneman: Oh, it was bittersweet. It was kind of like the end of college in a weird way. You spend a number of years doing this. They were very important years. People got married, got divorced, »

The doctors of Seaside Health & Wellness soon will be out.
After a six-season run, ABC’s Private Practice comes to an end tonight at 10/9c, with a series finale titled “In Which We Say Goodbye” and boasting a happy ending for Kate Walsh’s Addison. Amy Brenneman previews the show’s swan song, shares why she’s glad to see Violet go stag at the big wedding and reflects on the “bananas” storyline that gave Pp new life.

She couldn't zero in on an exact number, but Amy Brenneman laughed at the question and admitted to me over the phone last week:
Yes, viewers will likely need a "few" boxes of Kleenex while watching tonight's Private Practice finale.
The episode, of course, centers on Addison's wedding to Jake and, unlike most of the installments that have comprised Private Practice Season 6, Brenneman describes this one was appropriately "communal."
"This has been a novel with many, many chapters," the actress said, explaining how there's "no huge plot twist that blows everyone away tonight," but that the episode is simply "respectful to the characters and the audience."
And Brenneman's Violet will play a key role in wrapping the series up, as Sarah Ramos guest stars tonight as a patient the audience has never seen before, someone who has been seeing Violet for five years.
"I believe she's ready to go, but she disagrees. »
