The Weekly Wrap-Up: November 28-December 6, 2008

6 December 2008 1:30 AM, PST | DreadCentral.com | See recent Dread Central news »

Due to too much Thanksgiving turkey, Beaujolais, and fun with friends, the last Weekly Wrap-Up was Mia. But fear not; this week it returns with a vengeance, and since so much transpired from November 28-December 6, 2008, let's get right to it!

Tis the season for familiar faces to make a reappearance, even if some of their projects are only in the rumor stage. Can you blame us for getting excited about the possibility of a new Buffy feature film? And if Whedon does pull it off, will Sarah Michelle Gellar be a part of it? Only time will tell.

Another three-name blast from the past, Tommy Lee Wallace, is set to begin shooting Hellversity this spring. Our original report mentioned that part of the filming would take place in India. Due to the unfortunate events in Mumbai recently, I question whether or not that's still the case. Barnabas Collins is a »

Entertainment Tonight presented a sneak peak for the newest trailer for Terminator Salvation that will debut on their show next Tuesday and will be in theaters alongside The Day the Earth Stood Still. That means we now have two good reasons to see that film in theaters: 1) This trailer 2) The first official trailer for X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

Terminator Salvation is directed by McG and stars Christian Bale, Anton Yelchin, Sam Worthington, Bryce Dallas Howard, Common, Moon Bloodgood and Helena Bonham Carter.

The quick scenes we see here show some stuff we’ve seen before but the ending is the most notable and you’ll see why.

Here’s the footage:

That’s one big out-of-place robot. It’s like RoboCop meets modern live action transformers. I can’t say I remember that one from the Skynet designs, heh. The only reason there »

Fox plans another Planet of the Apes reboot?

Right around the time Mark Wahlberg started to make out with an ape-suited Helena Bonham Carter in Tim Burton’s remake of Planet of the Apes (pictured above), it was clear 20th Century Fox had failed to reignite the old franchise. The movie posted decent numbers, but even with a gotcha twist ending that suggested the possibility of another movie, it felt distinctly like a one-time gig. »

Alan Rickman is a Hookah-Smoking Caterpillar?!

28 October 2008 7:03 AM, PDT | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

I keep thinking that the casting for the remake of Alice in Wonderland can't get any better. And then I came across the latest rumor coming from Zdonk: Alan Rickman -- the man who helped make Die Hard what it is, who once played a crotch-less angel, and who keeps a stern eye on Harry Potter -- has signed on to play the Caterpillar.

Take a look at the clip above and tell me you can't hear Rickman's voice speaking those lines! Between Rickman, Crispin Glover as the Knave of Hearts, Helena Bonham Carter as the Red Queen, Michael Sheen as the Cheshire Cat, and Johnny Depp as the Mad Hatter, this is gearing up to be one heck of a well-cast feature. But there's more -- along with confirming Rickman, Christopher Lee Web says that Lee also has a role -- currently unspecified.

I'm beyond happy with the news, »
