Paul Bettany in talks to replace Matt Smith as Prince Philip in The Crown

As Netflix continues to shake up the cast of The Crown for its upcoming third and fourth seasons, THR is reporting that Avengers star Paul Bettany is nearing a deal to take over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith.

Should he close his deal, Bettany will join Olivia Colman as Queen Elizabeth II (replacing Claire Foy) and Helena Bonham Carter as Princess Margaret (replacing Vanessa Kirby).

The first two seasons of The Crown follow the British Royal Family during the period of 1947 to 1963, and are available to stream now on Netflix. Season three is expected to pick up events from 1965 onward, featuring an older cast as the show turns its attention to the latter lives of the Windsors.

Paul Bettany Is Likely in Line to Become the Next Prince Philip on The Crown

If rumors are to be believed, The Crown might have found its new Prince Philip. Netflix's royal drama has been busy replacing the current cast with actors who are a little bit older to reflect the passage of time on the show, and while Queen Elizabeth II and Princess Margaret's replacements have been found, the lucky man tasked with taking over Matt Smith's role was still a mystery. Well, we hope you're a fan of Paul Bettany, because the Avengers: Infinity War actor is reportedly in line to replace Smith as Prince Philip for seasons three and four. If this turns out to be true, he will join Olivia Coleman, who is confirmed to take Claire Foy's place as Queen Elizabeth II in the award-winning historical epic. Helena Bonham Carter is reportedly also in talks with producers about joining the show to play Princess Margaret, and

Vanessa Kirby's Instagram Photo Is a Huge Hint About Her Replacement on The Crown

Season two of The Crown might have hinged around high-profile moments in Queen Elizabeth II's life, like her dinner with JFK or her trip to Ghana, but it's her younger sister, Princess Margaret, who steals the show. Thanks to Vanessa Kirby's exceptional performance, the fashionable, rebellious princess ends up being the second season's most relatable (and entertaining) character. Fortunately, it looks like Netflix has found the perfect actress to replace her in seasons three and four, since there will be a bit of a time jump. Ocean's 8's Helena Bonham Carter is in talks to take over for Kirby. Netflix has yet to officially confirm the news, but it seems like a done deal thanks to Kirby's latest Instagram photo. The two actresses happily posed for the camera, and Kirby even captioned the cute shot, "Honoured @thecrownnetflix." Seeing them next to each other only further proves how

Christian Bale Initially Turned Down Terminator Salvation Three Times; Recalls “Enormous Regrets” Over On-Set Outburst

When Terminator Salvation booted online eight years ago, McG’s star-studded reboot (Bryce Dallas Howard! Michael Ironside! Helena Bonham Carter!) was held up as the near-perfect platform on which Christian Bale could begin his transition away from Christopher Nolan’s beloved Batman series.

After all, much like Genisys, Salvation was designed to spawn a whole new trilogy of movies with Bale’s John Connor at its core, but the end product was a mishmash of bad ideas and weak storytelling, leading the studio to haul the Terminator offline for the foreseeable future.

And though many consider Terminator Salvation to be the runt of the litter – worse than even Rise of the Machines – Christian Bale offered a candid retrospective on the doomed reboot while appearing on MTV’s Happy Sad Confused podcast (via The Playlist):

I said no three times. I thought that the franchise…I went ‘Nah, there’s no story there.

From Greta Gerwig to Jordan Peele and Steven Spielberg — at the AFI Lunch, Everyone is a Winner

The first week of January each year, the American Film Institute Awards lunch is one of the more relaxed Hollywood gatherings. Top players involved with the 10 movie and 10 TV winners know all they have to do is comfortably socialize for an hour or so, eat their salmon, and applaud 20 clips.

TV jury chief Rich Frank said he wished he was on the film side, as they had far less to watch — his team had to sift through more than 500 scripted series.

Among the studio executives on hand with uncertain futures are Fox Motion Picture chairman Stacey Snider (presiding with vice-chairman Emma Watts and producer Amy Pascal over “The Post” table, with Steven Spielberg and Tom Hanks) and 21st Century Fox and Fox Networks chief Peter Rice, sitting next to Ryan Murphy (“Feud: Bette and Joan”), resplendent in a lime green jacket.
