Go Behind the Badge with Dark Blue

15 July 2009 5:53 AM, PDT | From MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news

We take in a press conference with stars Dylan McDermott, Omari Hardwick, Logan Marshall-Green and Nicki Aycox for this new TNT series

The successful cable network TNT has "known drama" for many years and some of their staples have been police procedurals like the hit series' The Closer and Saving Grace. The network is taking it another, darker, step forward with the new series Dark Blue, which premieres on Wednesday, July 15 at 10 Pm Et, right after the second season premiere of the amazing series Leverage at 9 Pm Et. While you may think "Oh, another cop drama," think again because this series has something that no other cable series can boast: mega-producer Jerry Bruckheimer serving as executive producer. Of course, the series has much more to offer than just Bruckheimer's Midas Touch, so to speak, with a wonderful cast.

Dylan McDermott headlines this series, which takes a much deeper look into

A Fan’s Response To ‘Terminator Salvation’

26 May 2009 9:00 AM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

I decided to brave the New York City holiday weekend crowds on Sunday morning so I could check out “Terminator Salvation,” the latest in that much-loved series from my childhood. “Terminator” and “T2: Judgment Day” have long been personal favorites; not so much with “Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines,” though I think it’s better than the sizable group of haters would like people to believe. As for the TV series, I’ve already discussed my disappointment at the cancellation of “The Sarah Connor Chronicles” here on the blog.

Okay. Back to “Salvation.” Needless to say, spoilers are to come. If you want a proper review, I encourage you to check out Kurt Loder’s more detailed assessment on MTV.com. It’s an interesting beast, “Terminator Salvation.” All previous incarnations of the franchise have dealt with protecting the Connor family and preventing mankind’s fall at the

Talking Terminator

24 May 2009 12:24 AM, PDT | From FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news

Pass the cigars. I've had a lovechild ... a baby Vodcast with Cinema Blend's Katey Rich. You've heard her on the Tfe podcast and now you can see her. She's more practical than I and talked me off of the ledge of my extravagantly ambitious ideas. Basically I always try to do acrobatics before learning to crawl. For the first vodcast I was thinking ornate costumes, visual effects, multiple camera angles, original score. She suggested a more dogme 95 approach -- less frills, more talking at the camera --smart girl.

The topic: Terminator Salvation and the franchise. Four movies, three spoilers, two opinions and one ass shot (Michael Biehn's, 1984).

Update: You can also watch it on YouTube but it's an abbreviated version.

This will function as Part 3 of my Terminator Special. I'm worn out and I don't wanna watch Rise of the Machines again. I don't wanna so I don't gotta.

Poll: The Many John Connors Of The ‘Terminator’ Series… Which Do You Prefer?

21 May 2009 1:00 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

Today’s release of “Terminator Salvation” marks the arrival of the fourth actor to play John Connor, son of Sarah Connor and the future savior of post-Judgment Day humanity. Christian Bale is the new guy, and trailers so far have suggested that he brings some of that “Batman” darkness to the role. Whatever you want to think about that unfortunate meltdown of his, this is a good pairing of character and actor.

Sarah (Linda Hamilton) is Skynet’s target in the first movie, and her protector Kyle Reese (Michael Biehn) is the man who turns out to be John’s father. John Connor doesn’t actually appear in the flesh until the second movie, “Terminator 2: Judgment Day.” There he is played by a teenage Edward Furlong, who manages to deliver a nice balance between whiny punk and future savior of humanity.

Furlong is replaced by Nick Stahl in

Ranking The Top 8 Hunks Of Terminator

21 May 2009 9:07 AM, PDT | From cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news

For some, the Terminator franchise has always been about the robots-- the T-800 good guy, the T-800 bad guy, the T-1000 liquid metal guy, the new Harvester bot that carries people inside it. And for some, maybe many, the franchise will always be defined by Linda Hamilton and her ridiculous guns in Terminator 2. But those of us attracted to men have always known the biggest draw of the franchise-- a relentless stream of hunks, starting with naked Michael Biehn crouching in an alleyway back in 1984's Terminator and culminating this weekend in Sam Worthington, the manliest Australian superstar since Mel Gibson in the Mad Max era. Join me, won't you, for a ranking of the Hunks of Terminator, figuring out a way to compare Arnold Schwarzenegger's icy cool with Anton Yelchin's scrappy fighting spirit. Lucky for you, three men on this list are in Terminator: Salvation this weekend.

Terminator Salvation

Running Time: 1 hr 50 mins

Rating: PG-13

Release Date: May 21, 2009

Click here to read Nick Allen’s Top 7 Ultimate Christian Bale Roles

Plot: After Judgement Day and in the year 2018, Skynet and all of its terminator toys are trying to kill all the people left on Earth. John Connor (Bale) must fulfill his destiny and try to save Kyle Reese (Yelchin). A man (Worthington) from the past is thrown into the situation, simply trying to make sense of all the destruction around him.

Who’s It For? For those that are sad about “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles” getting cancelled, here’s your only hope for Terminator to live on. Plus there’s some big, eye-popping explosions. There is a ton of shooting, but nothing overly violent, so it’s a well-deserved PG-13 rating.

"Terminator Salvation" Movie Review -- Is the Film a Good Addition to the "Terminator" Franchise?

19 May 2009 9:33 PM, PDT | From Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news

I was prepared to hate .Terminator Salvation.. How can director McG top the stellar productions of the first two .Terminator. films by James Cameron? Besides, the third movie of the franchise was a forgettable mess.

The writers of the third .Terminator,. John D. Brancato and Michael Ferris, in an attempt to erase that movie from our memories, also wrote the fourth film. And now, Brancato and Ferris are forgiven. .Terminator Salvation. is a worthy addition to the franchise.

The best part of the film is its Western structure. .Terminator Salvation. borrows myths and conventions from good, old Western films in order to come up with a flawed but ultimately satisfying movie.

The film is set in the year 2018. Judgment Day has come and gone. Now, an army of Terminators roams the desolate, post-apocalyptic landscape. But small groups of survivors have organized into a Resistance.

The Terminator (1984)

19 May 2009 5:38 PM, PDT | From FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news

Part 1 of 3 Terminator Franchise Retrospective.

Spoilers abound but you've had 25 years to see this picture...

"Tech Noir"

In March of 1984 when The Terminator began filming, the director James Cameron and the producer Gale Ann Hurd were no Hollywood heavyweights. Cameron was no one's idea of a visionary (except for perhaps his own) and had only one feature under his belt, Piranha 2: The Spawning -- auspicious beginnings! Hurd had learned the production ropes on B movies for Roger Corman. Cameron and Hurd intended for the dark, fast and cheaply made robot movie to be their calling card. Seven months later in October the movie premiered with only its deceptively simple premise (killer machine hunts woman) and Conan the Barbarian (Arnold Schwarzenegger) to sell it. The Terminator was an immediate hit, though not quite a blockbuster. It earned a Conan-like $38 million gross in its initial run (which I believe is something

New ‘Terminator: Salvation’ Clip Features Rumored ‘Green Lantern’ Duo

19 May 2009 12:08 PM, PDT | From MTV Splash Page | See recent MTV Splash Page news

It’s not exactly comics-related, but this is pretty cool all the same: Here’s a new clip from “Terminator: Salvation” that debuted this week on MTV Movies Blog. It features Sam Worthington and Anton Yelchin, a pair of actors who were both rumored to be in the running for the role of Hal Jordan in the live-action “Green Lantern” movie (so I guess it is comics-related after all), playing Marcus Wright and Kyle Reese. (Both actors have since denied any involvement with the role.)

In the clip, Yelchin utters the phrase Michael Biehn popularized in the first “Terminator” film: “Come with me if you want to live.” And once you see what’s stalking them, you’ll see why.

Terminator: Salvation” hits theaters Thursday, May 21. You can watch four more clips from the film over at MoviesBlog.MTV.com.

Five Views Of ‘Terminator Salvation’

Terminator Salvation” may not hit theaters until the end of the week, but MTV has you covered if you want to get your post-apocalypse on just a little bit early. You’ve probably seen portions of the five clips featured below in various trailers and TV spots, but here you get some unbroken, raw footage pulled straight from the film.

Starting us off is Anton Yelchin, shedding his thick Russian accent and barely pubescent charm from “Star Trek” to deliver Michael Biehn’s iconic (and oft-repeated) Kyle Reese utterance from the first movie: “Come with me if you want to live.” Yelchin of course plays a younger Reese in the film, long before a trip to the past inadvertently turns him into the father of humanity’s savior.

No Salvation For ‘Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles’

18 May 2009 7:00 AM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

On the eve of “Terminator Salvation’s” release this week, Entertainment Weekly’s Michael Ausiello brings word that Fox has officially canceled the struggling “Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles,” which concluded its second season in April with a questions-raising. As a fan of the series, I had hoped Fox would capitalize on the positive buzz surrounding “Salvation” to give the series one last push, but it is not to be.

Television is usually outside of our coverage zone here on MTV Movies Blog, but the “Connor” cancellation is noteworthy because of the larger issues the show addressed with regards to the franchise. Since the “Chronicles” started, fans have understood that Lena Headey’s Sarah and Thomas Dekker’s John existed in an alternate timeline. This is all thanks to a plot twisting pilot in which the duo, along with sexy Terminatrix Cameron (Summer Glau), jump a decade forward in time

Four Minutes Of ‘Terminator: Salvation’ Online And In High Def

11 May 2009 1:15 PM, PDT | From MTV Movies Blog | See recent MTV Movies Blog news

“Come with me if you want to live.”

That’s one of the lines you’ll hear uttered during the shiny, new Internet-only trailer for “Terminator: Salvation.” If you’re up on your “Terminator” lore, you’ll be happy to know that that line belongs to Anton Yelchin, who plays Kyle Reese. Actor Michael Biehn was the original Reese, and was the first to utter those words back in James Cameron’s 1984 classic, “The Terminator.”

Other highlights: Skynet robo-cycles, a decapitated T-800, more of the giant-sized robot seen in previous trailers, war-torn environments. Also, Christian Bale’s John Connor looking very serious and very angry. And we all know the dangers of making Christian Bale angry.

Anton Yelchin Talks Trek and Terminator

23 April 2009 8:16 AM, PDT | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

Identified by the Los Angeles Times as one of the stars to watch this summer, 20-year-old Anton Yelchin has landed plumb roles in two of the most-anticipated fanboy flicks of the season. He plays freedom fighter Kyle Reese in Terminator Salvation and Pavel Chekov in J.J. Abrams' Star Trek reboot.

Reacting to his new-found fame in an interview with the Times, Yelchin says he got "really lucky," and emphasizes his sense of responsibility in "capturing what people appreciate about the characters." But in both cases he is taking on the characters at an earlier stage in their lives than audiences have been seen before. This gives him a certain amount of creative latitude. "There are different paths to the same person," he observes.

As an actual Russian -- he's from what used to be known as Leningrad -- he approaches playing Trek's Chekov with a certain sense of irony: With Chekov,

An investigation follows, taking the officer and his new partner into the depths of the criminal underworld. Anton Yelchin Saves the Future (Twice)!

15 April 2009 7:39 PM, PDT | From Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news

Actor Anton Yelchin has the weight of the world on his shoulders. As a star in two of this year's biggest "event" films, Star Trek and Terminator Salvation, Yelchin has a part in shaping the future of two franchise reboots.

Russian by birth, Yelchin, celebrated for his role as Bobby Garfield in Hearts in Atlantis, is a natural to fill the role of Pavel Chekov, the upbeat young Russian crew member aboard the U.S.S. Enterprise in the Star Trek relaunch.

However, with little action picture experience behind him, how will Yelchin fare as the once-and-future super-soldier Reese (brilliantly played by Michael Biehn in the original Terminator) in Terminator Salvation? When asked what he hopes to bring to the role, Yelchin said:

He's going through the normal teenage stages of being a young man, but he's going through them in a post-apocalyptic environment, being followed around by Terminators who are trying to kill him.

Our suggestions for the NYC "Rainbow Pilgrimage" gay tourism campaign

8 April 2009 3:06 PM, PDT | From AfterElton.com | See recent AfterElton.com news

It was announced yesterday that New York City is launching a major tourism campaign based around the 40th Anniversary of the Stonewall Rebellion in an effort to draw gay visitors to the city, the first integrated campaign for gay tourists in NYC's history.

The gist of the campaign is that thanks to its place in gay rights history, the city should be a "pilgrimage destination" for all gays and lesbians, and that NYC has much to offer gay visitors.

We thought we'd do our part and propose the first-ever AfterElton.com Gay Entertainment Walking Tour of the city, based around key locations from some of the most notable movies and television moments involving gay folk.

Put on your walkin' shoes and let's hit the streets!
