‘Angie Tribeca’ Renewed for Season 4 at TBS, ‘Animal Kingdom’ Renewed for Season 3 at TNT

Angie Tribeca” has been renewed for Season 4 at TBS, while “Animal Kingdom” has been renewed for Season 3 at TNT, it was announced Thursday at the TCA summer press tour.

Rashida Jones plays the title role in “Angie Tribeca,” who is a detective in the Lapd. It also stars Hayes MacArthur, Jere Burns, Deon Cole, and Andree Vermeulen. The zany comedy series is executive produced by Nancy and Steve Carell along with Ira Ungerleider, who serves as showrunner. In addition, Bobby Cannavale will join the show in its fourth season.

The series has scored two consecutive seasons of growth among adults 18-49, including growing 13% for last year’s second season and another 8% for the just-completed third season. It also ranks as one of cable’s top 10 comedies for the quarter across all key demos. TBS has ordered 10 episodes for Season 4, which is slated to launch in 2018.

TBS’ irreverent Rashida Jones comedy “Angie Tribeca” has been renewed for a fourth season, while TNT has given Season 3 greenlight to gritty drama “Animal Kingdom.”

The renewals were announced Thursday at the Television Critics Association press tour. “Angie Tribeca” will return with 10 episodes for Season 4 in 2018, while “Animal Kingdom’s” Season 3 will also premiere next year.

As part of the “Angie Tribeca” pickup, Bobby Cannavale (“Boardwalk Empire”) has joined the cast.

It was a serious sucker punch to all film fans when we lost Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds within a day of each other.  There have been many tributes to Carrie Fisher and rightfully so.  I have not seen that many for Debbie Reynolds so I would like to pay her tribute by reviewing one of her lost gems of a movie, Goodbye Charlie from 1964, based on a play by George Axelrod and directed by Vincent Minnelli.

Barry Levinson’s 1982 comedy Diner celebrates its 35th anniversary (yikes!) with a special 35mm screening at the Ahrya Fine Arts Theatre in Los Angeles.
