The lessons NBC’s Parenthood has taught us

28 January 2015 7:08 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

As Parenthood, Jason Katims’ follow-up to Friday Night Lights, draws to an end, here’s what the Braverman family has taught us…

Warning: contains Parenthood spoilers.

For those of us whose real-life parents and siblings are too geographically distant, troublesome or simply few to play a big part in our day-to-day lives, for the last five years, NBC has offered a solution. Meet surrogate TV family, the Bravermans

Residents of Berkeley, CA, the Parenthood gang enjoy the kind of close-knit family life that TV often promises, but reality - with its inconvenient travel and time demands - rarely delivers. Few of us live in houses large enough to accommodate errant daughters and teenage grandchildren, and fewer of us are located so close to our grown-up siblings that we can bring coffee and problems to their workplaces on an almost daily basis.

Watch Olivia Wilde And Mark Duplass in The Lazarus Effect Trailer

7 January 2015 2:40 PM, PST | WeAreMovieGeeks.com | See recent WeAreMovieGeeks.com news »

Relativity Studios has released the new terrifying trailer and poster for their upcoming horror movie, The Lazarus Effect.

Starring Mark Duplass, Olivia Wilde, Donald Glover, Evan Peters and Sarah Bolger, the movie follows a group of medical students who discover a way to bring dead patients back to life.

Sounds like the 1990 film Flatliners that starred Kiefer Sutherland, Kevin Bacon, William Baldwin and Julia Roberts. “Four Medical students experiment on “near death” experiences that involve past tragedies until the dark consequences begin to jeopardize their lives.”

Brought to you by Blumhouse Productions, evil (and scares) will rise in theaters on February 27th when The Lazarus Effect opens nationwide.

Forever episode 12 review: The Wolves Of Deep Brooklyn

7 January 2015 1:49 AM, PST | Den of Geek | See recent Den of Geek news »

Forever returns to tidy up the carnage left by the previous episode. Will it finally live up to its considerable potential this year?

This review contains spoilers.

1.12 The Wolves Of Deep Brooklyn

I’ve missed Forever. Not for one moment would I claim that this show is as watchable as say Gotham, or as elegantly written as Elementary, but it’s enjoyable all the same.

Episode 12, rather than being a standalone exercise, picks up the pieces from the mid-season finale, where Henry killed someone after being manipulated by Adam. The actual investigation is therefore mostly window dressing for him dealing with that, his return to work, and how that ties in with his relationship with Abe.

The inspiration for the murder is mostly taken from The Wolf Of Wall Street as the title hints, and they convinced William Baldwin to appear as uber-confident stock manipulator Oliver Clausten. His appearance created »
