El Diablo Actor Jay Hernandez Holds Up Suicide Squad As “Next Step” In Dceu

5 hours ago | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

In many ways, it is 2013’s Man of Steel that can be considered ground zero of Warner Bros.’ budding DC Extended Universe, teeing up the aesthetic and general tone of what’s still to come along the studio’s slate. Much of that style bled into Zack Snyder’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, though it’s really the arrival of David Ayer’s Suicide Squad that will steer Warner’s juggernaut into uncharted territory.

Assembling Task Force X in all of their erratic and capricious glory, Ayer – best known for End of Watch and the excellent Fury – is juggling a group of supervillains united under a common cause. And it’s for this reason actor Jay Hernandez considers Suicide Squad to be “the next step” in the evolution of superhero movies.

Jason Momoa Shares Aquaman Photo from Justice League Set

18 hours ago | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Production got under way on the highly-anticipated Justice League Part 1 last month in the U.K., with Zack Snyder at the helm, but we have yet to get any story details or an official cast list from Warner Bros. as of yet. We haven't heard anything about the production thus far, aside from the movie adding J.K. Simmons as Commissioner Gordon and Willem Dafoe in a mystery role, and bringing back Jeremy Irons as Alfred from Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, along with the previously-confirmed Justice League members. While we wait for more details, Jason Momoa has given us another glimpse at his Aquaman look in a new photo.

The actor took to his Instagram page earlier today to share a new photo, presumably from the Justice League Part 1 set, where he's seen sporting his elaborate Aquaman tattoos and full beard. The actor is seen holding up a sign »

‘Batman v Superman’ Won’t Be Joining $1 Billion Box Office Club

4 May 2016 9:41 AM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Remember when “Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice” opened on March 25 to huge fanfare and a huge $166 million domestic box office haul? Seems so long ago. After six weeks in theaters, Warner Bros.DC Comics action epic starring Ben Affleck and Henry Cavill has stalled well short of the $1 billion mark, earning $863.2 million worldwide. That’s an impressive achievement, but it’s significantly less than the $1.5 billion that Marvel’s own superhero-mashup “The Avengers” grossed worldwide in 2012. And that film paved the way for the studio’s Marvel Cinematic Universe worth billions more. Sources at Warner Bros. told TheWrap that. »

Killer Croc Actor Talks "Squad" Role

4 May 2016 8:29 AM, PDT | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

One of the least talked about, but most well known characters in the upcoming "Suicide Squad" film is Batman villain Killer Croc. Having appeared in both the animated series and the 'Arkham' video game series, the David Ayer-directed film will be the character's first big screen outing.

Now, actor Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje has spoken with Coming Soon about his take on the villain which he says is a fully-formed character at the film's start and one who has fought against Ben Affleck's Batman before:

"At the time you meet him in this film, he's a fully fledged criminal. He's really one of the baddest criminals known to be roaming in Gotham, hence his lockup in Arkham. He's tangled with the Batman and here he is amongst these other foes. He's very much a formidable force at the time that you meet him."

Geek Girl Navigating the World- Oh, Batman, Oh Superman, What Happened?

4 May 2016 7:06 AM, PDT | Boomtron | See recent Boomtron news »

I went to see “Batman vs. Superman: Dawn of Justice” on opening day. Usually, the column about a movie I’ve seen gets posted within a couple of days of the viewing. This one, on the other hand, has taken much longer than I wanted it to, mostly because I needed that much longer to process it.

Superhero movies are one of those things I love. They rank right up there with books, quality cheese, better bourbon, and these incredible chocolate stout cookies a lady in my home city sells. It’s a shock to my system to walk out of a movie starring titans of the comic book circuit feeling ambivalent.

Dawn of Justice” wasn’t a horrible movie, but it wasn’t great either. I walked out of the theater hopped up on caffeine and still couldn’t muster the energy to discuss what I’d just seen with my friends. »

5 Reasons Ben Affleck's Solo Batman Movie Needs To Use The Hush Story Arc

4 May 2016 6:37 AM, PDT | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Say what you will about the current shaky ground of the Dceu, the future still looks bright for the members of the Justice League. The one Justice League member who has us particularly excited is also arguably the most popular: The Dark Knight. Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie has slowly but surely started to take shape, with recent developments stating that Red Hood will not make an appearance, and that the film will feature a large number of villains.   With that in mind, we think this is a perfect time for DC to finally adapt the modern classic Batman storyline, Hush. A personal battle between Bruce Wayne and his childhood friend Tommy Elliot, Hush was written by Jeph Loeb and blew audiences away when it hit shelves back in 2003. In the years since its release, it has become a quintessential Batman read, and more than worthy of »

Elektra Video Reminds Us Jennifer Garner's Superhero Movie Had Tons Of Problems

3 May 2016 9:59 PM, PDT | | See recent Cinema Blend news »

Much like Daredevil and The Punisher before her, Elektra has seen a second lease on life thanks to her inclusion in the Netflix reboot. But before redemption, there is always sin . and boy, is Elektra full of sin, as you'll see in the video below. As you'd expect, and as the video above has confirmed, Cinema Sins is on the prowl once more. This time, the 2005 pseudo-sequel to Ben Affleck's Daredevil is in the crosshairs, and Elektra is just as sinful as you'd expect. With a whopping final sin count of 148, Jennifer Garner's second bite at the apple beats out her initial outing's sin count of 79 . almost twice the sins of 2003's Daredevil. Considering how confusing the opening narration seems when trying to lay down a basic framework, we're not surprised. Now there's a lot of garden variety Cinema Sins that are committed by this film: tons of logos, »

People may still be debating the fate of the DC Extended Universe in a post-Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice world, and paying close attention to any behind-the-scenes Justice League drama, but that hasn’t stopped the hype train for the next DC cinematic property, David Ayer’s Suicide Squad. DC Superhero Movie Buzz: Ben Affleck Wants to Make the Definitive 'Batman' Movie

2 May 2016 3:00 PM, PDT | | See recent news »

This week sees the release of Captain America: Civil War, which has already received plenty of advance critical praise. That's led to a lot of positive buzz about Marvel's future slate of movies. But we're also hearing rumblings about upcoming DC projects. Let's start with Ben Affleck as Bruce Wayne, aka Batman, in Zack Snyder's Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. Affleck's casting raised a lot of eyebrows when it was announced, but the veteran actor turned in a truly praiseworthy performance as an aged hero who is initially motivated by anger, disgust and a bit of self-loathing. Even those who didn't particularly enjoy the movie agreed that Affleck's Batman was the best thing in it.  That raised anticipation for the long rumored solo...

9 ways to save the DC Extended Universe

Anghus Houvouras with 9 ways to save the DC Extended Universe…

I don’t require much. Just a producer credit on every Warner Bros. DC movie, a balloon payment of $16 million dollars in gold cougarans, and 8% of the merchandising. Wait. Sorry. Got ahead of myself. Before the fans and Warner Bros. shower me in warm, glistening adulation they probably want to hear my amazing, borderline genius ideas on how to save the DC Extended Universe.

Before I unveil my nine part strategy to turn Warner Bros.’ DC movies from languishing, critically panned, polarizing pictures into a money-making, universally loved, acclaimed blockbusters… let me say this:

Personally, I’ve enjoyed Zack Snyder’s DC movies as grotesque monstrosities. Man of Steel and Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice are two of the most opulent assaults of sight and sound I’ve ever seen. I’d love to see what Zack Snyder does »

Which Batman villains should Affleck bring back – and who should play them?

2 May 2016 9:54 AM, PDT | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

A new report suggests Ben Affleck wants the full ‘rogues gallery’ of Batman foes for his confirmed standalone film, which he’ll be the star of and direct

Batman’s “rogues gallery” of villains is the classic comic book coterie of evil. So why have so many of them been absent from the big screen for so long? Penguin has been missing since Danny DeVito’s freaky turn in 1992’s Batman Returns, while The Riddler hasn’t been wheeled out since Jim Carrey’s nerve-shatteringly ebullient performance in 1995’s Batman Forever. Poison Ivy? Well, we haven’t seen her since Uma Thurman’s uber-camp 1997 portrayal in Joel Schumacher’s ill-fated Batman & Robin.

Why Clayface is the perfect villain for Ben Affleck’s Batman film

2 May 2016 9:00 AM, PDT | Flickeringmyth | See recent Flickeringmyth news »

James Garcia on why Clayface could be the perfect villain to feature in Ben Affleck’s solo Batman movie…

Of any rogues gallery across the pages of comics, none is perhaps more famous and iconic than Batman’s. Frequent Arkham Asylum inmates like the Joker, Two-Face, the Riddler, Catwoman, the Penguin, Mr. Freeze, and even relative newcomers like Harley Quinn have had a substantial impact on pop and geek culture.

As a result, the big names on the rogues list keep popping up in new Batman adaptations. The Joker himself has been given the live action treatment five times (counting Gotham and the upcoming Suicide Squad film), and has been the focus of countless video games and animated adaptations. Catwoman has appeared across film and TV five times, and was even the focus of her own solo film starring Halle Berry (though that particular version of the character bears little resemblance to the source material, »

6 Villain-Heavy Batman Stories Ben Affleck Needs To Use For His Solo Batman Movie

2 May 2016 7:14 AM, PDT | | See recent Cinema Blend news » said it before and I.ll say it again: Ben Affleck.s take on Batman was the best thing about Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. He proved so awesome in the role that Warner Bros. has pretty much given him the keys to the castle when it comes to crafting his upcoming Batman film. While we still have very little information about the movie, what little knowledge we do have has us undeniably excited for the impending outing for the Caped Crusader.   This weekend provided us with two noteworthy bits of information: Ben Affleck.s Batman solo movie won.t use Red Hood (a surprise for many fans) and the film will feature a large ensemble of villains. That has us thinking about the potential storylines that could provide inspiration for the coming solo adventure. With that in mind, we have compiled a list of six villain-heavy »
