Actress Liv Tyler is set to give her grandmother's new manners book a big boost by penning the novel's foreword.
The Armageddon star and daughter of rocker Steven Tyler was raised by her model mum Bebe Buell and etiquette coach grandmother Dorothea Johnson.
And now Tyler is to thank her beloved relative for her years of devotion by giving Johnson a career lift and writing a short intro to her sixth tome, Modern Manners.
Tyler tells Harper's Bazaar, "My grandmother is an incredible teacher. In the world, she's been a businesswoman, but for me she's always been nurturing."
The actress will share some of her best-learned tips and words of wisdom, admitting she still puts into practice most of Johnson's advice for always looking and acting like a polished woman.
The mum of seven-year-old son Milo adds, "They taught me to just take that extra bit of time. There's nothing worse than having to get up at seven every morning, get Milo dressed, me dressed, walk the dog, make breakfast, get him to school by 8.30, and then have all the paparazzi jumping up from behind a bush when you have no make-up on." »

It’s a clash of the curves … between three leading ladies in the same figure-friendly Stella McCartney Octavia dress!Kris Jenner recently sported the look in blue and black at Monday's E! Networks 2012 Upfront at Gotham Hall in New York City. She paired the dress with short black heels, a black clutch and a chunky orange and black beaded necklace. Kate Winslet donned the same skin-tight dress in red and black to the “Carnage” premiere in Paris on November 20. Strappy open-toe heels, a jeweled bracelet and a chic updo completed the outfit.Like the E! reality star, Liv Tyler went with the blue and black version way back in June to the New York screening of “The Ledge.” She accessorized the dress with Christian Louboutin Pigalle pumps and a matching black Stella McCartney clutch. We think Liv takes this one, the bright blue shade of the dress really makes her »

I can't remember a time I went to the Seattle International Film Festival (Siff) press launch and looked over the list of films and saw so many I was interested in seeing. The claim to fame for over the years is to call it the largest and most-highly attended festival in the United States. This is a fact I've often taken issue with as I don't equate quantity with quality. Granted, there has been a large number of quality features to play the fest over the years, including Golden Space Needle (Best Film) winners such as Kiss of the Spider Woman (1985), My Life as a Dog (1987), Trainspotting (1996), Run Lola Run (1999), Whale Rider (2003) and even recent Best Director winner, Michel Hazanavicius's Oss 117: Nest of Spies in 2006. That said, looking over this year's crop of films I see a lot of films I will be doing my absolute best to see. »

New York -- If Kim Kardashian and Kanye West are dating together for publicity – it's working.
The reality starlet and rapper have refused to confirm they're a couple, but they arrived hand-in-hand at Chanel's seventh annual artists dinner at the Tribeca Film Festival Tuesday night. The two happily posed for the cameras, then sat among a galley of stars at the event.
Other attendees included Robert De Niro, Liev Schreiber, Liv Tyler and Kellan Lutz.
West and Kardashian – already tabloid magnets apart from each other – have garnered even more attention since they became a rumored couple. West recently confessed his love for her in song, and they've been spotted out together in New York.
Also Tuesday, E! announced it was extending Kardashian's family reality show for three more years. »

Susan Sarandon has been removed from a guest list for a White House event next week. Why? "I was denied security clearance and I don’t know why," Sarandon, 65, told the crowd attending a Q&A with herself and Michael Moore at the Tribeca Film Festival this past weekend. It gets better. As reported in The Independent, Sarandon added: "We know we are under surveillance. I’ve gotten my file twice under the Freedom of Information Act. I know my phone was tapped. If they’re not surveilling you then everyone else has cameras on their phones." If what Susan Sarandon says is accurate, that means Americans can rest assured their tax dollars are being wisely invested in the protection of their freedoms and their persons from clear and present danger. Sarandon has always espoused dangerous liberal causes, including gay rights and the Occupy Wall Street movement, and is a Unicef representative. »

Chicago – The sly satires of Whit Stillman have cultivated a fan base that appears to consist largely of his fellow peers. Manhattan-based filmmakers such as Wes Anderson, Noah Baumbach and Lena Dunham have cited his subdued comedies as an influence on their own similarly mannerist yet considerably more accessible work. For many moviegoers, Stillman’s brilliantly constructed, emotionally distant pictures are easy to admire but difficult to like.
Rating: 2.5/5.0
The young, upwardly mobile “urban haute bourgeoisie” that populate his films serve as the target for Stillman’s observational, deeply affectionate humor. These characters may have big vocabularies and even bigger egos, but they are ultimately no less vulnerable and naive than their fellow peers in the lower social classes. I’ll never forget the hilarious scene in Stillman’s best film, 1998’s “The Last Days of Disco,” where a group of twentysomethings utilize their long-winded skills of analyses to pick »

Ti West is a busy man. Not only is he gearing up production on his scifi thriller The Side Effect with Liv Tyler, but he has just signed on to write an adaptation of Ben H Winters' horror novel Bedbugs for Tango Pictures. There is no word yet if there is also an offer to West to direct as well but it'd make rather a lot of sense.Amazon describes the book like this:Susan and Alex Wendt have found their dream apartment.Sure, the landlady is a little eccentric. And the elderly handyman drops some cryptic remarks about the basement. But the rent is so low, it's too good to pass up.Big mistake. Susan soon discovers that her new home is crawling with bedbugs . . »

Sometimes the scariest things happen closest to home, and for a brief moment in the pop culture sphere, bedbugs were the horreur du jour. The subject of countless new stories, cable exposés and more, it seems everyone was worried about bedbugs, and where you might get them: Exterminators enjoyed the brief uptick in business. And of course, those critters are now headed to the big screen. Kind of.
Tango Pictures has picked up film rights to the Ben H. Winters’ bestselling horror novel "Bedbugs" and tasked Ti West ("The Innkeepers," "House Of The Devil") to pen the script. But this isn't some kind of creature feature. Bending in a more psychological vein, the story follows Susan Wendt, who lives in Brooklyn with her family, who gets what she thinks are bedbug bites. But the strange thing is, she’s the only one getting bitten, and soon a more sinister reason for what is going emerges. »

Director: Matthew Chapman
Starring: Terence Howard, Charlie Hunnam, Liv Tyler, Patrick Wilson
Running Time: 96 minutes approx
Certificate: 15
Extras: Making of The Ledge: with Patrick Wilson, Terence Howard and Charlie Hunnam, Trailer
Adultery is a tricky subject; on the one hand you have a heinous, selfish act and on the other you have a deeper meaning: unhappiness. The Ledge (2011) looks at philandery and its effects on those involved starting off with Gavin (Hunnam – TV’s The Sons Of Anarchy) climbing onto a ledge with a remit: jump at 12 noon or your lover will be killed.
From writer/director Matthew Chapman (Runaway Jury) the film is surprisingly complex and – you could argue – controversial in its execution; told almost entirely in flashback, we learn Gavin’s story, his affair with Shana (Tyler), and his relationship with her husband Joe (Wilson, on film-stealing form) all the while being drawn into Detective Hollis’ (Howard »

Gavin (Charlie Hunnam) walks along a high rooftop and out onto the ledge. Detective Hollis Lucetti (Terrence Howard) finds out from his Doctor that he is sterile and then gets sent up to the roof top to try to talk Gavin down. Gavin says he must jump at noon, or else someone he cares about will die and so he unfolds for Hollis a bizarre back story involving a fundamentalist Christian and his damaged wife, infidelity and a deadly ultimatum.

At the heart of the intriguing premise presented by this otherwise low-key and sadly uninvolving drama is a question. Would you take your own life to spare the life of someone you love? Unfortunately what seems to have happened here is that a moral dilemma has been concocted and then an ensemble drama assembled around it, rather than allowing the characters to drive the narrative.
