• Screen Crush picks the 25 best Lgbt films of the past 25 years. Happy to see Pariah and Bound mixed in with the usual titles like Brokeback Mountain and such. And the past few years have been so good for Lgbt cinema. I mean: Carol, The Handmaiden, Moonlight, Tangerine. #Blessed

• Esquire Fun article by Tyler Coates on how he finally learned to love RuPaul's Drag Race which he had avoided for years and even bad-mouthed in print

• Theater Mania you don't see this often but there's an actual age restriction on the Broadway adaptation of George Orwell's "1984". No one under 13 will be admitted due to its intensity. The show stars Tom Sturridge, Reed Birney, Olivia Wilde, and Tfe fav Cara Seymour (who previously did that lovely guest spot for us). I'm seeing it soon so will report back.

• IndieWire has issues with the "orientalism" of the new Twin Peaks. Add this to the onling Sofia Coppola controversy and... well... People I don't know what to do with all the outrage anymore at everything. There's got to be a line where, as an adult, you're just okay with what you're seeing and discarding the parts that irk you, or filing them under "I don't know about that but whatever" if they're not harmfully intended. Artists will always have their own peculiar obsessions and they'll always draw from a wide variety of influences (at least the good ones will) to craft their own stories and nobody really owns history; pop culture and the arts are giant beautiful melting pots of ideas and aesthetics from all over the world. Oh and also the Laura Dern hairstyle is not proprietarily Asian as the article seems to imply. I know this because I was obsessed with silent film star Louise Brooks as a teenager (Pandora's Box & Diary of a Lost Girl 4ever!). It was originally called the 'Castle Bob,' because Irene Castle (a famous NY dancer) debuted the then-shocking look in 1915. It was a very controversial look but became a sensation in the 1920s with flappers and silent film stars. Hollywood's first popular Asian American actress Anna May Wong, who the article references as an influence on Dern's look, actually had to get her hair cut like that because it was so popular.

• Buzzfeed "25 Gay Pride signs that will make you laugh harder than you should" - so many of these are so wonderful I just want to hug all gay people for being funny and able to spell

What places are delivering right now? So, in the early ’90s, right around when Pulp Fiction came out, Quentin Tarantino and Mira Sorvino were dating. I always thought Romy and Michelle’s High School Reunion was a dumb chick flick, but I caught part of it on cable the other day and there was an ad for Red Apple cigarettes in the background of one of the shots! 26 April 2017 6:52 PM, PDT | POPSUGAR | See recent BuzzSugar news »

It's been 20 years since the 10-year reunion at the heart of Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, and it shows. Rewatching the movie now isn't just opening up a Pandora's box of '90s nostalgia; it's a burst of realizations that some weird sh*t happens in this movie . . . or at least, some weird sh*t happened in the '90s. To mark the anniversary of the movie - and let me say again, damn, it came out 20 years ago (which means Romy and Michele graduated 30 years ago), I rewatched it, and I have some thoughts. Please check out my brainwaves if at any time you also loved this movie. Related24 Movies That Are Turning 20 Years Old This Year Romy and Michele live in the greatest apartment in Venice Beach. 20 Lessons Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion Taught Us About Friendship, Feminism and Fashion, 20 Years Later

Twenty years ago today, a little movie called Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion premiered to mixed reviews. Many compartmentalized it as a silly comedy starring “that chick from Friends as Michelle” and “the other one who went on to star in American Pie, oh wait, that’s Mena Suvari.”

But any from-the-start Romy and Michele fan knows three things: 1. Mira Sorvino is a comedic legend in large part due to this movie, 2. “Michele” is spelled with one L and 3. Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion was a trail-blazing film that, while a comedy on its surface, embodied »

Exclusive: Lisa Kudrow Says Romy and Michele Would Be Reality Stars 20 Years After 'High School Reunion'

It’s been 20 years since Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino strapped on their blood-filled shoes and headed back to Tuscon for Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion, but fans of the 1997 comedy haven’t forgotten the cult classic (or the all-important formula for glue).

So, when Et’s Carly Steel spoke with Kudrow at the Boss Baby junket last month, we couldn’t help but ask where she thought the indomitable best friends would be, 20 years after proving that all you need to wow your old classmates is confidence, a loyal best friend and a perfectly choreographed dance number.

“Hopefully she would still be married to Sandy,” Kudrow said of her character, who found love at the film’s end with her class’s resident geek-turned-billionaire, Sandy Frink (Alan Cumming). “And I think, you know, maybe she and Romy still have their store and probably a reality show.”

Twenty years after Romy and Michele's High School Reunion, we're still not sure who's the Mary and who's the Rhoda.  At this point, though, that doesn't really matter, because Romy White and Michele Weinberger are an iconic best friend duo all their own. The 1997 cult hit starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino is as relevant today as it was when platform heels reigned supreme (and not least because platforms are totally back). In fact, there's a musical based on the movie premiering this summer and even rumblings of a Romy and Michele sequel. "I would be very exited for [a sequel]," Sorvino, who played Romy, tells E! If you are currently in the middle of your businesswoman lunch special, you might have come across the news that Romy And Michele’s High School Reunion is celebrating its 20th anniversary this week. The cult classic starred Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino as two ditzy yet well meaning friends who embark on a quest to redeem themselves in the eyes of their high school peers.
