Model-turned-actress Brooke Shields is making a return to movie theatres - she's landed her first major film role in 10 years.
The Blue Lagoon star's acting career has been limited to TV roles in recent years, with appearances in Nip/Tuck, Law & Order: Criminal Intent, Two and a Half Men, and the recently axed Lipstick Jungle.
But, fresh from her touching tribute to late pal Michael Jackson at his Los Angeles memorial on Tuesday, Shields has scored a part in comedy Furry Vengeance.
The movie, in which she'll play Brendan Fraser's wife, follows a real estate developer and his troubles with a family of raccoons, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Shields' last mainstream movie role was in 1999's Black and White.

Shields will plays Fraser's wife. Dick Van Dyke, Ken Jeong and Samantha Bee are also joining the project.

It looks like Brooke Shields is making her way back to the big screen, and this time she won't be getting saucy in The Blue Lagoon. After a decade away, The Hollywood Reporter posts that Shields has signed onto the live-action comedy Furry Vengeance. Actually, considering the title, it's probably good to note that this is a family film. There's no word on what role she'll play in the Brendan Fraser flick, which follows a real estate developer who gets a hard time from a band of raccoons. One -- What's the obsession with coons lately? Davey Crockett on the brain? Two -- It might be the usual Fraser fair, but the cast does boast Ken Jeong, Samantha Bee, and Dick Van Dyke as well.
Meanwhile, in the shadow of Parenthood heading to the small screen, THR also posts that Freestyle Releasing has picked up Motherhood, and will release it this October.

I couldn.t help being touched by Brooke Shields. eulogy to her friend, Michael Jackson, yesterday. If it was real, it makes me realize just how skewed our vision of the man was, and how little we got to see of the real him. If it was for show, it makes me realize how surprisingly good Shields is as an actress. We haven.t seen much of Shields on the silver screen lately. Instead she's been a big presence on Broadway and on television. In 2008 she showed up in Clive Barker's Midnight Meat Train and now she.s looking to make another move towards more mainstream features in Furry Vengeance. THR reports that Shields will join family-film darlings Brendan Fraser and Dick Van Dycke along with Samantha Bee in a movie about a real estate agent taking on a gang of raccoons when he decides to develop further into their

The full cast of family comedy Furry Vengeance has been revealed by The Hollywood Reporter: Brendan Fraser will be joined by Dick Van Dyke, Ken Jeong, Samantha Bee and Brooke Shields! This will be Shields' first movie role (to see the inside of a cinema) for ten years, in a plot that sees her playing Fraser's wife. Fraser himself plays a real-estate agent battling a plague of racoons on some prime real estate. Director Roger Kumble previously made the rather good Cruel Intentions (and its awful Dtv sequel), The Sweetest Thing, and College Road Trip. Frankly, it's hard to get excited. But this sounds kind of like an extended version of the Bill Murray bits from Caddyshack, which could work... Y'know, for kids...

It was quite a spectacle, wasn't it? Tuesday's Michael Jackson memorial was — to borrow a phrase from a million lazy headline writers — "Fit for a King," full of tears and testimonials and triple-octave tributes, a once-in-a-generation event that was watched by the entire world (or something like one-sixth of it, anyway). For more than two hours, if there was any other event happening on the planet, you didn't know about it — which is about as fitting of a farewell you can give to the man who taught the world how to moonwalk. You will remember where you were when it happened, just like you'll remember where you where when you heard the news that Jackson had died.
But no matter how

Given the messy spectacle that was Michael Jackson's life, one could easily imagine his memorial service, held yesterday at La's Staples Center, would be a three ring circus. What was surprising was how very subdued and touching it was at times. Some highlights included brother Jermaine's performance of his brother's favorite song, "Smile," Usher's performance of "Gone Too Soon" (the song Mj wrote in tribute to Ryan White), Brooke Shield's tearful eulogy, and perhaps most touching of all: When Jackson's daughter Paris-Michael took the microphone....
"I just wanted to say ... ever since I was born, Daddy has been the best father you could ever imagine. And I just wanted to say I love him — so much."
Of course, the ceremony and its eclectic collection of mourners did offer a dose of the surreal. What other event could bring the likes of John Mayer, Mickey Rooney, Chris Brown, Corey Feldman,

On Tuesday, the world seemed to stop to watch the moving, celebrity-filled Michael Jackson tribute held at Staples Center in Los Angeles. The memorial featured performances from some of Jackson's closest friends and colleagues, including Smokey Robinson, Stevie Wonder, Mariah Carey and Usher. It also included an incredibly poignant and reportedly unscripted speech from Jackson's 11-year-old daughter, Paris.
Many celebrities who weren't onstage took to their Twitter accounts to react to the memorial. "Michael's children were so brave brave [to] stand there on stage & speak to the world about their father," Kim Kardashian wrote. "I spoke at my dad's funeral & it was the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I was shaking & crying & what Paris did was sooo soooo brave!"
