15 September 2017 4:00 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Batman has dominated movie screens since at least 1989. An there have been some major players vying for the role ever since. Ben Affleck put it best: "Batman is the Greatest Part in the World." In the summer of 2017, the actor and Oscar winning screenwriter and director shrugged off rumors he was set to exit the Dceu, as work continued on Zack Snyder's Justice League. But what if someone else was coming in to take over the role. Who would it be?

Battfleck turned out to be the best received part of Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, which reintroduced the Caped Crusader to movie going audiences, following the critical and box-office success of Christopher Nolan's Dark Knight trilogy. There have been numerous big screen versions of Gotham City's vigilante since he made his debut in Detective Comics and even more false starts and abandoned projects. Today, we're looking »

'9/11': Film Review

8 September 2017 12:00 PM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

Painful as they may be to contemplate, there are innumerable stories to be told relating to the heroism displayed by many people on 9/11. That makes it all the more unfortunate that Charlie Sheen, an actor who hasn’t exactly been a beacon of maturity throughout his career, has chosen to make his return to dramatic screen acting with a cheesy thriller about five people trapped in a World Trade Center elevator on that fateful day.

The resulting effort proves so exploitative that its end credits' dedication to the victims and first responders feels tawdry. 9/11 represents a cheapo disaster movie »

8 September 2017 6:00 AM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

When a trailer and one-sheet for the new movie 9/11 first appeared in July, it triggered an internet uproar.

The low-budget feature, which will open in limited theaters on Sept. 8, on the eve of the 16th anniversary of the terrorist attack, stars Charlie Sheen, Whoopi Goldberg and Gina Gershon, and its poster showed the three actors superimposed above an image of the World Trade Center's Twin Towers. Actors Who Were Almost Spider-Man

1 September 2017 5:43 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

How many actors have played Spider-Man? We've had more Spider-Man movies than there are Baldwin brothers, or Kardashian sisters. But so what? Everybody loves the friendly neighborhood webhead! It's been more than half a century since Amazing Fantasy #15 hit the stands and ever since Stan Lee and Steve Ditko gave us the kid who does whatever a spider can, Peter Parker's popularity has covered the world like a spider spinning its web. (Ugh sorry).

The wise cracking, hard working, hard luck hero is a young actor's dream. The number of guys who have wanted to get in that mask earned by Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland could fill a Spider-Verse movie packed with Miles Morales, Doc Ock, Spider-Gwen and every other comic version of the wall crawler. Here, we look at 10 Actors who were almost cast as Spider-Man. For whatever reason, they just didn't make it into that costume. »

Charlie Sheen Almost Starred In A Nightmare On Elm Street

28 August 2017 4:57 PM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Ready for some fun horror trivia?

Though A Nightmare on Elm Street is now an iconic and notable film for a number of reasons, one thing that it did was that it basically launched Johnny Depp’s Hollywood career, as the actor played Nancy’s boyfriend, Glen. It was his first role in a movie and though it all worked out well in the end, director Wes Craven almost went with someone else. That being none other than Charlie Sheen.

Speaking to Vulture in a recent interview, New Line’s Bob Shaye explained that the Two and a Half Men star was originally cast as Glen, but he demanded too much money.

Charlie Sheen was initially cast as Heather’s boyfriend, and he wanted $3,000 a week, which we couldn’t afford.”

Given that the film’s entire budget was only $1.8 million, it’s easy to see why the studio turned down Sheen. »

Charlie Sheen Was Almost in A Nightmare on Elm Street

27 August 2017 3:14 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

A Nightmare on Elm Street is a legendary horror movie and notable for many reasons, one of which was setting up Johnny Depp's career in Hollywood, but a lot of people don't know that Charlie Sheen was originally going to play the part of Nancy's boyfriend, Glen, in the seminal movie. A Nightmare on Elm Street was Depp's first Hollywood role and was chosen after director Wes Craven's daughters saw the actor's headshot in a stack of pictures of other hopefuls. Jackie Earle Haley (Little Children) also auditioned for the part that ultimately went to Depp. Haley eventually did get a role in the series, when he went on to play Freddy in the Platinum Dunes remake of A Nightmare on Elm Street.

In 1984, Charlie Sheen had a few acting roles under his belt, but only one substantial role in Grizzly II: The Predator Concert and still hadn't done Red Dawn, »

The unmade Planet Of The Apes movies of the 1990s

Mark Harrison Aug 17, 2017

Anyone for monkey baseball? We examine the weird and wonderful unmade scripts of the Planet Of The Apes series

In 2006, screenwriters Rick Jaffa and Amanda Silver were inspired by footage of domesticated chimpanzees who were unable to adjust to our lifestyles to write a sci-fi horror spec script that they called Genesis. Apparently, it was a while before the two of them realised that they were writing a Planet Of The Apes movie.

Their resultant pitch to 20th Century Fox led to 2011's Rise Of The Planet Of The Apes, the excellent, emotional prequel/reboot of the franchise that led to 2014's Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and recent trilogy topper, War For The Planet Of The Apes. Together, the three films take Caesar from domestication to domination and have been huge critical and financial hits for the studio.

'Red Dawn': THR's 1984 Review

10 August 2017 8:40 AM, PDT | The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News | See recent The Hollywood Reporter - Movie News news »

On Aug. 10, 1984, MGM/UA unveiled the war drama Red Dawn, featuring Patrick Swayze and Charlie Sheen, in theaters. The Hollywood Reporter's original review is below.

While John Milius' Red Dawn casts little constructive light on modern Anglo-Soviet relations, its rising at the height of our present Olympics-inspired patriotism represents a rather shrewd bit of capitalistic marketing strategy.

Reaction to the MGM/UA's release's depiction of a home-soil invasion repelled by teenage guerrillas may nonetheless prove a resounding nyet. It packs plenty of rabble-rousing ammunition, but its sloppy execution is unlikely to win any merit badges for marksmanship.
