Lily Collins Reveals Former Eating Disorder While Promoting ‘To The Bone’ at Sundance (Watch)

19 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Lily Collins stars as a young woman battling anorexia in the indie film “To The Bone,” and the actress has a personal connection to the subject matter.

Collins revealed on Saturday at Variety’s studio at the Sundance Film Festival in Park City, Utah, that she formerly battled an eating disorder.

“This movie was really important to me to be a part of because, as a teenager, I suffered from eating disorders,” Collins said.

“This is the first time I’m talking about it. This is my moment of talking about it,” Collins shared. “It’s important. It’s really important. It’s something that a lot of young women go through and there’s no shame in it, and this movie is about that — it’s about embracing your past and about realizing it’s something that doesn’t define who you are, but it’s about your experiences, »

Sundance Film Review: ‘I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore’

19 January 2017 11:34 PM, PST | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

You’d have to go all the way back to “Heavenly Creatures” to find a role that understands what actress Melanie Lynskey brings to the table as clearly as does Macon Blair’s “I Don’t Feel at Home in This World Anymore.” And yet, the fact that it’s taken 20-odd years — this despite lead roles in such even-keel melodramas as “Hello I Must Be Going” and “Happy Christmas” along the way — for someone else to tap her good-girl-pushed-too-far potential is cause for celebration among the actress’s fans, who’ll have the chance to discover this odd-bird Netflix original on demand soon enough, as the company plans to release it via its online platform on Feb. 24.

This is the sort of fresh indie voice people come to Sundance to discover, and it’s an apt choice to open the 2017 festival, capturing a sort of “I’m as mad as hell, »

Overused Movie Trailer Sound Effects Are Slammed In New Supercut — Watch

19 January 2017 10:20 AM, PST | Indiewire | See recent Indiewire news »

Every year, there are certain patterns in film and TV that arise from marketing, cultural trends or simple financial success. Naturally, the Internet has become better and better at pointing these out, often through supercuts and video edits. Though we’re only a few weeks into 2017, there are plenty of these patterns to be sussed out, even if they’re only from movie trailers.

The YouTube account CinemaRaven has posted a video that compiles clips from 2017 movie trailers that feature the same sound effect: “a descending low digital drop,” in his words. Though some of the “drops” vary, many are exactly the same and all attempt to build tension (in an utterly contrived fashion) in order to best sell tickets for Hollywood’s big-budget films. Watch the video below.

11 Facts About White Men Can’t Jump

19 January 2017 7:48 AM, PST | PEOPLE.com | See recent PEOPLE.com news »

With the news that White Men Can’t Jump will be … can’t jumping back into theaters courtesy of Kenya Barris, who created ABC’s hit Black-ish, we thought it would be a good opportunity to revisit some facts about the original 1992 film, starring future True Detective Woody Harrelson and future vampire hunter Wesley Snipes.

The film’s leads were almost Denzel Washington and Keanu Reeves

Washington turned the film down to do Malcolm X, and despite demonstrating his athleticism later in The Matrix, Reeves was apparently so uncoordinated on the court that he “almost broke my neck going up for a layup, »

First clip for John Wick: Chapter Two is on familiar neutral ground

Here’s the first clip from John Wick 2 (as it’s more accurately John Wick: Chapter Two known) which sees our hero Keanu Reeves back as the title character on familiar ground returning to the neutral hotel where everyone is (vaguely!) safe.

The clip doesn’t show any of the epic action that we’ve seen in the trailers but does set the scene for what many are hoping will be one of the greatest sequels of recent years. The concierge Charon (Lance Reddick) is there once more to greet him and his dog before sending him up to The Manager.

John Wick: Chapter 2 Clip: “Mr. Wick Is On His Way To See You, Sir”

18 January 2017 4:34 PM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

John Wick was a film that won audience’s heart with a puppy, soured it with said puppy’s death, and paid it all off with a rewarding tale of revenge. The gun-fu action was top notch, and with few words being tossed around, the all-around badass Keanu Reeves was very much in his element.

Now, all of a sudden, a couple short years later, audiences are looking forward to seeing what John Wick is up to next, and more importantly: will this new dog we see in the trailers go the way of his predecessor? While we can’t tell you whether or not that’s the case, we Can show you a brand spankin’ new clip from the show.

In this clip, we see John Wick returning to the awesome Continental hotel from the first film. As Wick makes his way upstairs, the dog merely gives the hotel clerk the staredown. »

John Wick 2 Clip

18 January 2017 1:37 PM, PST | Cinelinx | See recent Cinelinx news »

John Wick was the surprise hit of 2014. We have been patiently waiting for the sequel and as we inch closer and closer we have a brand new clip to make us even more excited.

Most importantly the clip is one of John Wick and his new pup who is definitely alive for the action in this sequel. 2014's John Wick was the directorial debut for stunt coordinators Chad Stahelski and David Leitch. It took audiences by surprise with it's incredibly fun story telling and over the top, yet grounded, action. A true return to form for Keanu Reeves. It all started when Theon Greyjoy (Alfie Allen) killed John Wick's puppy, which immediately front he trailer had audiences ready to kill this guy if Game Of Thrones hadn't already had you in that camp.

So now comes to the second chapter in the John Wick saga and Stahelski is riding solo in the directors seat. »

Lrm's 10 Most Anticipated Sundance Film Festival Premieres

17 January 2017 10:15 AM, PST | LRMonline.com | See recent LRM Online news »

Later this week, Lrm will be attending this year’s Sundance Film Festival. While the festival tends to be a mixed bag of indie films, some will be picked up for distribution by studios and turned into mainstream hits, others will flounder and be lucky to get a VOD release. Even so, there’s no denying that Sundance is the real beginning of the year for most movie lovers as we’ll be talking about the movies below for the next 12 months.

Last year alone, Sundance held the premieres for The Birth of a Nation, Manchester by the Sea, Captain Fantastic, Love and Friendship, The Hunt for the Wilderpeople, Sing Street and many more films, some that appeared on The Weekend Warrior’s year-end Top 25. One or two of those might even receive Oscar nominations when they’re announced next week on January 24.

What is it? A one-armed man arrives via train in a remote western town, and the populace reacts with suspicion and violence.

Why buy it? Spencer Tracy excels as the polite but mysterious stranger whose presence sets everyone on edge, and the more he probes the harder they push. The film explores threads of America’s deep-seated racism and small-town insulation, and it pairs that commentary with a steadily increasing suspense. The themes and actions here are still sadly relevant, even now, and it makes for an important watch that still manages to entertain.
