This past Thursday, shortly after Michael Jackson’s untimely passing, a sick Internet rumor started that veteran actor Jeff Goldblum had died. His reps were quick to point out that the actor was, in fact, very much alive and well. For any of you doubting Thomases out there, here’s photographic evidence of the actor’s good health, taken just a couple weeks ago:
Of course, as many here in the MTV offices will attest to, Jeff Goldblum is king. He will always be David Cronenberg’s original “Fly” of course, but I love him best for starring alongside a young Laurence Fishburne as a high-class drug dealer in “Deep Cover.” And a designer drug dealer at that. In the honor of the fact that Jeff Goldblum still walks among us, I present to you this little photographic tour through his career.
I’ll admit, my heart skipped a beat

I have a crush on Kristen Wiig.
I know I’m not alone. Her Saturday Night Live characters like the Target Lady and Penelope have made her one of the most popular SNL players in recent years. In fact, Wiig has appeared in more sketches this season than any other cast member.
Her impressions are spot-on as well. Wiig’s Nancy Pelosi has gotten the most airtime, but my personal favorite is her take on Suze Orman.
For now, Wiig’s roles outside of SNL have been limited, but I make space on the DVR whenever I see her name. So I’m delighted to see her in the teaser for HBO’s new comedy, Bored to Death.
The premise for Bored isn’t new (a writer and detective novel fan moonlights as a P.I.), but if the lineup in the trailer is any indication, we’re in for a treat.

Hey, check it out... Jason Schwartzman and Zach Galifianakis are starring in a new HBO show together! I vaguely remember hearing some early announcements about this a while back, but regardless, it feels like this kind of came out of nowhere. After seeing the short teaser for Bored to Death, I simply cannot wait to see it. The basic idea is that Jason Schwartzman is a writer who is going through a painful break-up. He loves Raymond Chandler novels, and apparently decides to make a change in his life by becoming a real-life private eye. I love the concept and I love Schwartzman when given the right roles, and this kind of has an I Heart Huckabees feel to it. The cast also includes Ted Danson and Parker Posey, and it premieres in September. Check out the teaser trailer after the jump and see what you think. For more posts like this visit FilmJunk.

Three comedians are off to the beach for spring break fun, but their vacation turns out to be direct-to-video. Our leads have been funnier in other films and spring does appear to breakdown, but it.s more to do with the film than the idyllic setting. Three thirty-something BFFs, Gayle (Amy Poehler, who brings along husband Will Arnett for a cameo), Becky (Parker Posey), and Judi (Rachel Dratch, are feeling like they want shed their geeky personas and wrecked personal lives. Becky works for the gun-toting senator Kay Bee Hartman (Jane Lynch) and when her daughter Ashley (Amber Tamblyn) is going to South Padre Island, Texas for some spring break hijinks. On the heels of her successful theatrical turn in Minsky's, gay-favorite funny lady Rachel Dratch spoke with The Advocate this month about her role in this summer's My Life in Ruins, her made-for-gay film Spring Breakdown, and why she always seems to get cast as a lesbian.
Spring Breakdown, a film Dratch co-created with Amy Poehler, tells the story of three women (Dratch, Poehler and Parker Posey) who decide to leave their stale 30-year-old lives behind and live it up one good time on spring break. The project stalled out several times in the distribution phase, and after three years, finally made it to DVD.
The Advocate asked Dratch about Amy Poehler's comment that Spring Breakdown was "made for gays." Dratch responded:
Well, [out director/screen-writer] Ryan [Shiraki] always has the gay audience in mind. We set out to make the kind of broad comedy you always see featuring guys, but with women in the leads.

Chicago – When Tina Fey made the jump from “Saturday Night Live” to “30 Rock,” she was planning on taking her talented co-star and friend Rachel Dratch to the award-winning show. Before the season began, Dratch was replaced by Jane Krakowski and the rest is history. But there was a promising comedy with a great cast on Dratch’s resume that all of us thought would bring her back to the spotlight called “Spring Breakdown”. Now that comedy is being quietly released straight-to-dvd/Blu-Ray. There’s no justice in the comedy world.
Blu-Ray Rating: 3.0/5.0 It’s not that “Spring Breakdown” is a comedy masterpiece that necessarily deserved a wide audience, but while watching it I was struck by the disparity between the sexes. Male-driven junk about horny boys looking for sex like “Fired Up,” “Sex Drive,” or “Miss March” automatically gets a theatrical release, but if a female-driven film isn

As you may know, the annual Forbes 100 is out. This 'Celebrity 100' list is also referred to as "World's Most Powerful Celebrities". Which... well, I wonder. The list ranks the celebrities based on their media visibility and earning power. Media + income = power. All lists are subjective but it seems strange to assume that visibility equals power. It can but I doubt it automatically does. Is Lindsay Lohan a powerful person because the paparazzi follow her around? If so, what does she hold sway over... legging trends? Can she get movies greenlit? She didn't make the list but it's just an example.
Another funny/strange thing: It only goes to show you that becoming enormously popular at one time in history can keep you on these lists in perpetuity. Witness the staying power of Sandra Bullock and Harrison Ford on lists such as these.
Here are Forbes top movie actresses...

The International (Sony) An Interpol agent (Clive Owen) joins forces with a Manhattan D.A. (Naomi Watts) to bring down an arms dealing ring and a corrupt global banking cartel that’s funding them. Superlative thriller was oddly ignored by critics and audiences alike, but expertly blends intelligence (courtesy screenwriter Eric Warren Singer’s masterfully-crafted script) and full-throttle action (director Tom Tykwer stages one of the great film shoot-outs in New York’s iconic Guggenheim Museum), making this dynamite thriller reminiscent of the best work from masters such as John Frankenheimer and Robert Aldrich. Armin Mueller-Stahl is wonderful as a world-weary covert op. Bonuses: Extended scene; Featurettes; Trailer. Widescreen. Dolby 5.1 surround.

DVD Links: DVD News | Release Dates | New Dvds | Reviews | RSS Feed Revolutionary Road I'm not exactly excited about any of the selections this week and as anxious as I was to see this movie last year, it ultimately disappointed me. The best way to describe this film would be to say it is just there. I got nothing from it. The book, however, I certainly recommend you read, although, like the film, it too is a bit of a downer, but at least it is brilliantly written. Defiance It is no wonder Paramount Home Video is offering a special deal if you buy Defiance and Revolutionary Road since both films are right there in the luke warm middle of the road. I will give Defiance credit for interesting me just slightly more than Rr, but by the time I was supposed to review it last year I didn't even make the effort.

What is a Sundance Film Festival without a Parker Posey movie? This year the unofficial Queen of Sundance starred in writer-director Ryan Shiraki's Spring Breakdown, about three women "holding on for one more day." At the festival, I caught up with Posey's co-star Jane Lynch, one of the funniest character actresses around; her previous credits include being part of Christopher Guest's ensemble -- Best in Show, For Your Consideration -- plus Role Models, The 40 Year Old Virgin and other scene-stealing roles.
For the most part an amusing movie performed by amusing women, and yet with no theatrical release to speak of, Spring Breakdown should see more life on DVD. (It arrives on disc this week.)
Lynch has also been doing some fine work on the small screen as of late, including the Starz Network's Party Down (about a catering company), and Fox's cheery new Glee.

Rachel Dratch is to Tina Fey, as George Lopez is to Freddie Prinze. The former is the less funny version of the latter. When Tina Fey wrote the screenplay for Mean Girls she created an insightful and apt film taking timely aim at teen culture. In writing Spring Breakdown Rachel Dratch retreads a story so common and overused that even National Lampoon has slowed its pace on the subject: spring break. The well of spring break comedy has run dry. It ran dry years ago. Drunken teens, foam parties and girls gone wild can only serve as the butt of so many jokes. Spring Breakdown hasn’t refreshed the topic – hell, we can’t even say it’s beating a dead horse; the movie is shuffling its feet in the dust of the horse’s skeletal remains.
Three girls graduated from college under the impression that a lack of popularity fades naturally.

In a story from The Hollywood Reporter, Roadside Attractions has picked up the Us rights to Mitchell Lichtenstein's comedy Happy Tears.
The film stars Parker Posey, Demi Moore, Ellen Barkin and Rip Torn.
"These are two larger-than-life performances from Parker Posey and Demi Moore as sisters who have a love-hate relationship," stated Roadside company president Howard Cohen.
Lichtenstein went on to say, "This is a tough time for independent film, and I believe that the team at Roadside Attractions knows how to find an enthusiastic audience for this funny, offbeat movie."

It happens occasionally in movies: an unknown actor will get two or three movie roles back to back, then have them all reach theaters -- or a film festival -- at the same time. If the movies happen to be good and the actor is particularly noticeable, Boom! He's having a moment. It happened, in various years, at Sundance -- one year it was Parker Posey, one year it was Lili Taylor, or Steve Zahn or Philip Seymour Hoffman. There's something similar happening on TV, though the actors aren't unknowns. Because of the staggered nature of TV seasons these days, actors are suddenly available for more than one series at once -- and can have two or more shows on the air at the same time. I think of them as serial actors -- not because they act in serials but because they...

Woody Allen. From PatrickMcMullan.com.If you’ve ever seen Annie Hall, you know how Woody Allen feels about parties, be they in L.A., with its New Age fads and shameless networking, or in Manhattan, swarming with solipsistic, tweed-jacketed PhDs. Last night, however, Allen put on a brave face at the after-party for the premiere of his new movie Whatever Works, his long-awaited return to New York. The Woodman mingled with the beau monde at Manhattan’s Royalton Hotel, which included Larry David (who plays the Allen-ish lead in the film), Evan Rachel Wood (the May to David’s December), Patricia Clarkson (also in the film), Tribeca Film Festival co-founder Robert De Niro, a guy who looked exactly like him but with a goatee, Mary-Kate Olsen, Bradley Cooper, Tribeca juror Debra Messing, the Monkees’ Mickey Dolenz, Parker Posey, stunt documentarian Morgan Spurlock, and Molly Shannon. But after being mobbed by well-wishers for about 20 minutes,

Hollywood stars Uma Thurman, Meg Ryan, Whoopi Goldberg and Adrien Brody will head up the judging panel at this year's Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
The actors will be joined by fellow celebrities James Franco, Mary-Kate Olsen, Bradley Cooper, Melissa Leo, Parker Posey and Morgan Spurlock, who are all among the 32 jurors at Robert De Niro's movie event, which kicks off on Wednesday.
The line-up was announced at a press conference in the Big Apple on Tuesday, which featured Thurman, director Spike Lee and festival founders De Niro and Jane Rosenthal.
And New York resident Thurman is delighted to play such a key role in the eighth annual festival.
She says, "For me and people who enjoy films, Tribeca has been a major event for which all look forward to with major anticipation. As a New Yorker, it's wonderful to see the impact it has on the city.
"This year is especially exciting because I get to be a part of it as a juror."
De Niro founded the event with Rosenthal and Craig Hatkoff to help revitalise the lower Manhattan area after the terrorist attacks of 9/11 - and he is proud to continue celebrating New York City as a major film-making centre.
He adds, "It's great to see how much the festival has grown since we started it in 2002 and how it has impacted this neighbourhood."
The Tribeca Film Festival, which will host the world premiere of Woody Allen's new movie Whatever Works on Wednesday, runs until 3 May.
