Julianne Swears Off Marriage

21 December 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Julianne Moore has ruled out marriage with boyfriend Bart Freundlich - despite the approaching April birth of their second child. The two-time Oscar-nominated Hannibal star says she and Freundlich - with whom she already has a four-year-old son, Cal - have no foreseeable plans to take a trip down the aisle. Moore, divorced in 1995 after nine years of marriage, says, "We're so happy with the way everything is. It's funny about having a second baby, because my first is four, and it's so incredibly easy! I looked at Bart the other day, and I said, 'Oh my God - we're doing it again?!" »

Julianne Moore has become the latest celebrity model for make-up giant Revlon. The stunning redhead, who turns 40 next month, will join Halle Berry, Melanie Griffith and Rhea Durham as a spokesmodel for the brand. The Oscar-nominated actress is expected to get $3 million for a year's contract - the same amount she got for playing Clarice Starling in the Silence Of The Lambs sequel this year. Cheryl Vitali, Revlon's executive vice president says, "She is a major celebrity, and celebrity is part of the Revlon heritage. Women find her appealing and likable. She's beautiful, modern and glamorous; she's a mom and has a significant other. She's the complete package and is highly inspirational to women. She's an ageless, timeless beauty." Julianne's Sugar Scare

2 November 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Julianne Moore was rushed to the doctors on Monday after a violent reaction to sugar. Moore was filming Far From Heaven with Dennis Quaid when she accidentally poisoned herself with sugar. A crew member explains, "Julianne is very allergic to sugar. That morning someone handed her a drink that had sugar in it and she had such a bad reaction, she had to be rushed to a doctor." As Julianne was out of action for the rest of the day, producers hoped to film scenes which only required Quaid. The crew member smirks, "The night before, Dennis had done an all-nighter at Hogs & Heifers and no one could reach him for hours." After spending hours looking for the actor, to no avail, filming was scrapped for the day, costing the studios thousands of dollars. »

Billy Elliot Director Prepares For Backpacking Adventure

19 September 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Billy Elliot director Stephen Daldry is set to direct a movie about young British travellers on the backpack trail. Working Title films have lined up the movie man for the project - currently going under the uninspiring title The Backpacker Movie - which looks set to offer a more comic tour of a landscape already covered in Leonardo DiCaprio's film The Beach. If negotiations prove successful, the film would form the first part of a three-picture deal which Daldry signed with Working Title last November. The film would also reunite Daldry with producer Jon Finn, with whom he collaborated on last year's surprise hit Billy Elliot. Daldry recently completed work on his second movie, The Hours, starring Nicole Kidman, Julianne Moore and Meryl Streep. »

Little Monster For Hannibal's Julianne

13 February 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Julianne Moore has been left with a constant reminder of her role in Hannibal - her son's uncanny impression of DR. Lecter. Julianne, who plays Clarice Starling in the horror film sequel, was disturbed to find co-star Anthony Hopkins had taught her three-year-old son Cal to make the famously chilling sound Lecter makes when fantasising about eating human flesh. She says, "Tony would go, 'Cal do this - Pffft, pffft, pffft...' and he picked it up immediately. Now you can say, 'Do Tony' and off he goes!" »

Julianne Moore Blasts Bush On Abortion

7 February 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Julianne Moore has hit out at President George W. Bush's stance on abortion. Julianne fears that, under a new administration, young women will lose the right to choose what happens to their unborn children. She explains, "I think that young women are not aware about this. I think they have never been alive when abortion wasn't safe and legal, and they don't realize that it's something that can be easily taken away. One of the very first things Bush said when he got into office is that he would not allow any federal money to go to overseas programs in support of abortion, when there has never been any federal money going to programs in support of abortion. He is one of the more adamantly anti-choice people around. I can't believe it's happening in my lifetime." »

Hannibal Should Leave Film Fans Smiling

11 January 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The mastermind behind Hannibal (2001) thinks his human-flesh eating anti-hero is something of a comedian. Gladiator (2000) director Ridley Scott says the psychotic Dr. Lecter character, portrayed by Anthony Hopkins, is always looking to "get a laugh" even when he's about to pounce on another helpless victim. Scott says what struck him most when he saw the first manuscript for the new film were the humor and charm of the man. He says, "Hannibal's not just a ruthless killer. Absolutely not. Thomas Harris's book is genuinely full of wit and I hope we have translated that into the movie. I shall be very disappointed if I hear that people aren't smiling - when they're not screaming!" And Scott is ecstatic at the performances in his new movie - including that of Julianne Moore, who replaced Jodie Foster in the lead role. "Julianne is simply sensational and Anthony Hopkins is quite terrifying when he puts his mind to it. What's weird about Tony is that you're chatting to him one moment over a cup of tea and then you're watching him through a camera and feeling your hair stand on end. He was brilliant in Silence of the Lambs, The (1991). So he's brilliant again." »

Cows Scared Julianne More Than Hannibal

10 January 2001 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Julianne Moore has revealed the thing that scared her most during the filming of horror film Hannibal (2001) was a herd of cows. The actress who has taken over the role of FBI agent Clarice Starling from Jodie Foster in the follow-up to Silence of the Lambs, The (1991), reveals she cracked up the film crew with her fear of cows. She says, "They couldn't believe, after all the things I had done - the guns, the boars, the running, the falling - that what scared me most was these big, stupid cows!" However, Julianne had a brilliant time on set, and says she was sorry to wrap up the Ridley Scott film, which co-stars Anthony Hopkins as the evil Hannibal Lector. She says, "This was one of the few movies I've been on where I hated to see it end." »
