Jessica Lange and Shirley MacLaine Take an Unexpected Vacation in Trailer for ‘Wild Oats’

4 hours ago | The Film Stage | See recent The Film Stage news »

Screen legends Jessica Lange and Shirley MacLaine have teamed for the new comedy Wild Oats, which was shot two years ago and now will finally be arriving in theaters next month. Directed by Andy Tennant (Hitch, Fools Rush In), the story follows a woman who gets a life insurance check for $5,000,000 instead of $50,000, so she takes an unexpected vacation to Canary Islands with her friend.

Also starring Demi Moore, Billy Connolly and Alan Arkin, if you enjoy often the often under-represented geriatric comedy genre, Wild Oats looks to fit the bill. This one got the Grace of Monaco treatment from The Weinstein Company, premiering on Lifetime last week before a theatrical release next month. While they still have yet to officially release a trailer, one popped up on the international circuit. Check it out below, along with the poster.

Wild Oats Poster & Trailer

Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange are in a movie together. It's called Wild Oats and it was directed by Andy Tennant of Fools Rush In and Sweet Home Alabama fame. You can see why this news is vexing. We should be thrilled about seeing MacLaine and Lange together (in a comedy no less!) but it might not be a great addition to this growing "Old dames having a ball!" genre that's become a staple of late.

The film, which follows the two Oscar winning actresses "newly rich" (given a banking error in one's husband's insurance policy), "newly single" (see above), and "forever young" (they're timeless, these glittering movie stars) looks to be a tad more Hello My Name is Doris than I'll See You In My Dreams, with a whiff of The Exotic Marigold Hotel. Oh, and did I mention it co-stars Demi Moore

Go Topless Day: 7 Celebrities Who Bared Their Breasts for a Cause (Photos)

Go Topless Day Kim Kardashian and Emily Ratajkowski doffed their tops, painting the fleshy twofer as a statement on feminism — though Piers Morgan, for one, wasn’t buying that explanation.   Model Naomi Campbell posted a topless photo of herself on Instagram last year, aligning herself with the #FreeTheNipple movement.   Scout Willis, the daughter of Bruce Willis and Demi Moore, traipsed topless through Brooklyn to protest Instagram’s censoring policy. “What I am arguing for is a woman’s right to choose how she represents her body,” Willis declared. Halle Berry joined Instagram in the splashiest possible way in March, posting a topless photo of herself. »

R-Rated Comedy Rock That Body Nets Demi Moore And Modern Family’s Ty Burrell

27 August 2016 10:00 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Falling into a similar bracket as DreamWorks’ all-star Office Christmas Party, Sony Pictures is quietly assembling its own entourage of talent in anticipation of Rock That Body.

It’s a new and R-rated comedy from writer-director Lucia Aniello, who penned the script of a wild bachelorette weekend that goes off the rails – as these cinematic bashes often tend to – alongside Paul W. Downs. Downs happens to be part of the cast, too, which is an ensemble that has now made room for both Demi Moore and Modern Family‘s Ty Burrell in supporting roles.

Deadline broke news of the two-fold casting coup during the week, confirming that Moore and Burrell will be rubbing shoulders with Scarlett Johansson, Ghostbusters star Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer and Zoe Kravitz. They’ll anchor Rock That Body as five close friends bound for Miami for a bachelorette weekend, but the body of a »

Modern Family” star Ty Burrell has joined Scarlett Johansson in the raunchy comedy “Rock That Body,” with shooting underway in New York.

The cast includes Kate McKinnon, Jillian Bell, Ilana Glazer, Zoe Kravitz and Demi Moore. Sony has set the release for June 23, when it will open against Paramount’s “Transformers: The Last Knight.”

Rock That Body” follows a group of five friends who rent a beach house in Miami for a wild bachelorette party that goes off the rails. The film is directed by Lucia Aniello from a script she wrote with her writing partner Paul W. Downs.

The script for “Rock That Body” appeared on the Black List in 2015. Sony picked up the project last year in an aggressive bidding war. Both Aniello and Downs will produce the film through their Paulilu banner. Matt Tolmach and Dave Becky will also produce.

Newswire: Demi Moore to Rock That Body with Ilana Glazer and Scarlett Johansson

26 August 2016 9:29 AM, PDT | avclub.com | See recent The AV Club news »

Demi Moore is set to star—and perhaps party—alongside the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Ilana Glazer, and Kate McKinnon in the comedy Rock That Body. The movie from Glazer‘s Broad City collaborators Paul W. Downs and Lucia Aniello is about a bachelorette event that goes bad when a male stripper ends ups dead. Details of Moore’s role aren’t available yet, but we’d like to imagine she’s playing the hot older woman who gives the young ones sage advice about topics like sex and the appropriate manner in which to hide dead bodies.

The cast also includes Zoe Kravitz, Jillian Bell, and Downs, just to add a little bit of testosterone, not that it’s at all necessary. Moore was recently seen in Wild Oats, which aired on Lifetime and also featured Shirley MacLaine and Jessica Lange.

It's a given Rumer Willis will age gracefully, given her parents' genes, but the 28-year-old gave everyone a taste of what old age could look like, thanks to Snapchat. Willis, who celebrated her birthday on Tuesday, posted a photo with a filter making her look like an older woman covered in wrinkles. "Looking fresh at 28," Willis joked, and captioned the photo, "Happy Birthday to me #feelingfreshandfleeky #aginggracefully." ‘Bad Moms’ Producer Suzanne Todd: Why the Veteran Producer Likes Staying Outside the Box

Many in Hollywood pair Suzanne Todd with her younger sister and producing partner Jennifer, long known as Team Todd. They produced a raft of movies together, many at freewheeling New Line Cinema, including teen coming-of-age classic “Now and Then” and Mike Meyers’ Austin Powers franchise. They also put on the map Christopher Nolan (“Memento”) and Ben Younger (“Boiler Room”). And while they both produced Tim Burton’s “Alice in Wonderland” with Joe Roth at Disney, for its sequel “Through the Looking Glass,” Jennifer was busy running Pearl Street Films, Ben Affleck and Matt Damon’s production company, while Suzanne carried on with the “Alice” sequel. And so she went solo on “Bad Moms,” which Stx opened well this weekend.
