Jennifer Aniston looked stunning in silver at the Women In Film 2009 Crystal And Lucy Awards in La on Friday. Chelsea Handler sneaked in a joke about John Mayer as she presented Jennifer with the Crystal Award for Excellence in Film. Aniston responded by making fun of her own love life saying, "I have a strange parallel with movies I was doing and my life off screen. First, it was The Good Girl...which evolved into Rumor Has It, followed by Derailed. Then there was The Breakup. Followed by the lighter side, Friends With Money. If anyone has a movie called Everlasting Love With an Adult Stable Man, that would be great! I'm at table six, and my agents are at table 12." Love her sense of humor. Jennifer was joined on the red carpet by some of her fellow leading ladies like Jodie Foster, Elizabeth Banks and Holly Hunter. Up-and-coming

Two weeks ago, Newsweek took on Oprah with a cover story calling out her promotion of some of her guests' health claims, which are sometimes not always based upon scientifically-sound principles or research. It's hard to take on a powerhouse media deity like Oprah, because of her positive influence in so many people's lives. It's harder to stand fast with your criticism, and yet Newsweek appears to be doing just that. From actress Suzanne Somers' use of "bioidentical" hormones to combat aging to Jenny McCarthy, the Playboy model and actress who promotes the completely discredited theory that childhood vaccines may cause autism, Oprah's been there making sure these poor stars get a spotlight on their causes. Would Oprah give the same airtime to a random doctor promoting the use of cognitive-behavioral therapy to help prevent teen suicides (as a recent study...

Stephen Colbert Goes Iraqi
Late night faux-newsman Stephen Colbert will be broadcasting four shows from Baghdad, Iraq next week in a Uso tour entitled, "Operation Iraqi Stephen: Going Commando." Colbert is usually known for his online punking of various governmental agencies--think of the write-in contest to name Nasa's new space module, which may end up being named after Colbert thanks to an open online vote his fans dominated. But this time, he tells the AP, he's going to Baghdad for a nobler cause: To try to get people talking about Iraq again. With discussions of Middle East policy reigning the news cycle, that won't be easy. Read the AP's full interview at the New York Times.

Oprah Winfrey has been forced to defend her show's medical coverage after she came under fire for backing alleged controversial and unproven health practices.
American publication Newsweek took aim at the chatshow legend, suggesting she uses her influence to promote certain health remedies that could be dangerous to viewers.
Subjects discussed on the show that have led to the criticisms include actress Jenny McCarthy insisting vaccinations caused her son's autism, and a segment in which a Winfrey viewer admitted swallowing 60 supplements a day.
But the media mogul, who was listed as the second most powerful celebrity by Forbes magazine, insists she is merely opening topics up for discussion.
She says in a statement, "For 23 years, my show has presented thousands of topics that reflect the human experience, including doctors' medical advice and personal health stories that have prompted conversations between our audience members and their health care providers.
"I trust the viewers, and I know that they are smart and discerning enough to seek out medical opinions to determine what may be best for them."

The Angels Vs. Demons series, now in it's fourth episode, features Kelly Stables (Samara in The Ring Two) as the "Winger Eve."
In between her recurring role on Two And A Half Men and shooting Santa Baby opposite Jenny McCarthy, Kelly Stables found time to co-executive produce and co-star in an original scripted, makeup & visual fx-laden web series that explores Angels & Demons as they battle for human souls.
“I've always found it frighteningly curious, the idea that there is some ‘thing’ surrounding us, beyond what can be seen by the eye or felt with a touch,” Stables said. “With Soul Fire Rising, this haunting, invisible world becomes an action-packed reality where the battle for even just one soul can mean the survival of the human race and

Forbes March will play Mason, gay cineaste (Pic: Getty)
Okay, so when did Oakdale become the must-visit hot gay destination? I blame that Cyndi Lauper and her gay-friendly pop music!
Our local soaps specialist Anthony Langford just tipped us off that As the World Turns has cast the actor who will arrive in a few months' time to play Mason, Noah's gay film adviser at Oakdale U.
To meet the actor and learn more, continue along below...
Forbes March has been cast to play Mason, Noah's film advisor who arrives on July 14th. The character is definitely gay but we hear that he will not be coming between Luke and Noah in any romantic way, so maybe he's just a mentor of some sort who introduces Young Maestro Mayer to Pasolini or something.

Leave it to Quentin Tarantino to find a climax unique in the history of war movies. Also trust Qt to get away with a war movie that consists largely of his unique dialog style, in which a great deal of action is replaced by talk about the possibilities of action. His "Inglourious Basterds," which premiered Wednesday morning here at Cannes, is a screenplay eight years in the writing, and you can't fill 148 minutes with descriptions of special effects. At least not if you're a motormouth like Tarantino.
My review will await the film's August 21 opening. I know, I wrote a lot about "Antichrist," but with this one I'd like to hold out until opening day. No, that doesn't mean I disliked it. It means it inspired other kinds of thoughts--about Cannes, Tarantino, and the way the movie industry seems to be going these days.
"Why," Mr. Tarantino, he was asked

Jim Carrey had Jenny McCarthy on his arm at a photo call for A Christmas Carol in Cannes yesterday. It's a bit early to start thinking about the holiday season, though Jim had no problem finding his spirit as he threw fake snowballs and let his future talk show host girlfriend lovingly brush snowflakes out of his hair. We'll have to wait until November to see Jim showcase his voice as Scrooge in the animated film, but he's already talking about how much he loved being part of the transformation of the classic character. Big, fat flakes of white snow suddenly began tumbling down in the roasting afternoon heat of the Cannes Film Festival yesterday. It wasn't global warming. It was just Cannes. You want Jim Carrey throwing snowballs after being brought in on a horse-drawn carriage? You got that too. Striding up a frosty red carpet between a set of pumping snow-machines, Carrey, Jenny McCarthy, Colin Firth and Robin Wright Penn arrived in...
