An Expert Tells HollywoodLife.com Why Sienna Miller Would Give ‘Bad Boy’ Jude Law a Second Chance

31 December 2009 1:55 PM, PST | HollywoodLife | See recent HollywoodLife news »

Why do girls love bad boys…even when they know they’re no good?

Sienna Miller, 28, is giving Jude Law, 37, another chance after he cheated on her five years ago with his nanny. And he seems to know why.

“I think women like bad boys. That’s been my experience,” he told Parade. “I just think it’s kind of a given. You know, at a certain age you figure out what works for you and being a good boy never worked for me.”

Um, clearly. But why do girls still fall for no good boys like Rude Jude?

“The truth of the matter is, bad boys tend to be more fun,” relationship expert Maryanne Comaroto explains to HollywoodLife.com. “Often times women of all ages equate intimacy and health with being boring so there’s that excitement with the bad boys. Plus, we tend to like people who are very different from ourselves. »

Can Martin Scorsese pull off a horror movie? Is Glasgow the new Venice? And what's Ricky Gervais up to in Reading? Our critics pick next year's hottest tickets

Film

Cemetery Junction

Having conquered Hollywood, Ricky Gervais is coming home. With his long-time collaborator Stephen Merchant, he has set out to create a British film in the tradition of Billy Liar and the Likely Lads – and of course his own masterpiece The Office – about three blokes working for the Prudential insurance company in Gervais's hometown of Reading. Released on 7 April.

A Single Man

The smart money says Colin Firth will be bringing home a certain gold, bald-headed statuette for his performance as a bereaved gay man in Los Angeles. Based on the 1964 novel by Christopher Isherwood, the movie – fashion designer Tom Ford's directorial debut – follows one day in the life of Firth's literature academic as he confronts his own mortality. Released on 12 February. »

Johnny Depp and Jude Law Discuss Taking Over for Heath Ledger in The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

31 December 2009 1:09 AM, PST | Reelzchannel.com | See recent ReelzChannel news »

When Heath Ledger passed away last year, he was in the middle of shooting director Terry Gilliam's The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus. It seemed like the movie would have to remain unfinished, until a plot convention was created that allowed Johnny Depp, Jude Law, and Colin Farrell to step in and take turns sharing Ledger's final role. Both Depp and Law have finally opened up about what it was like to fill in for Ledger during an interview with HitFix. Depp praised the production, particularly the performances.

It was an honor to represent Heath. He was the only player out there breathing heavy down the back of every established actor's neck with a thundering and ungovernable talent that came up on you quick, hissing rather mischievously with that cheeky grin, "Hey... get on out of my way boys, I'm coming through..." and does he ever!!! Heath is a marvel, »

Jude Law was intrigued to be given the chance to play an ''edgy'' Watson. The 36-year-old British actor - who portrays the title character's sidekick Watson alongside Robert Downey Jr. in the Guy Ritchie blockbuster 'Sherlock Holmes' - said he hoped he'd bought something a little different to the new adaptation. He said: ''When I was asked to get involved, Robert was already set as Sherlock and Guy was directing and I knew from then that it was going to be a different take on the older films of Sherlock Holmes. And it fascinated me. ''Obviously they were coming to me to .. »

Jude Law got Sienna Miller's consent for a romantic-yet-family getaway with his kids on one proviso. The UK Mirror claims Miller was so concerned not to have a replay of her past break-up with Law, when he cheated on her with a nanny, that she laid down the terms for their lovely island holiday. A source said: 'Haunted by what happened the last time they were together, Sienna is leaving nothing to chance second time around. She wants her and Jude to work on their friendship first and foremost, and then see if love blossoms. But by the same token, she doesn't want any reminders of his infidelity. Ragtime Folds on Broadway; But Don't Blame Hollywood Stars

And You Thought 2008 Was Tough

30 December 2009 10:03 AM, PST | backstage.com | See recent Backstage news »

In many ways, 2009 was a yearlong echo of 2008. The recession that began last year may have ended, but unless you work for Goldman Sachs, you probably didn't notice. Meanwhile, so-called "new media"—a moniker that as time passes sounds more and more like it was invented by somebody's grandpa—continued to imitate a fast-moving glacier carving a canyon across the old-media landscape. Nearly every major story of 2009 sprang from these two reservoirs, already well tapped in 2008. But at the very least, this year was no less interesting than the one it followed. Here are 10 reasons why.10. Equity's swinging doorMaybe former Actors' Equity Association executive director John P. Connolly, who resigned Nov. 30, and former Equity president Mark S. Zimmerman, who resigned Dec. 12, really did decide within two weeks of each other to leave their union posts to focus on their respective acting careers and personal lives. Maybe not. But for Equity, »

As he promotes his new film Sherlock Holmes, in which he plays the character of Dr. Watson, Jude Law says that it is the role of “dad” which continues to take precedence. Asked by Parade what’s most important in his life, the 37-year-old actor replies “being a daddy is what counts.”

Noting that he’s been “busy rehearsing” the role for more than ten years, Jude couldn’t help but reflect on how fatherhood has changed him in ways big and small.

The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus

30 December 2009 5:00 AM, PST | The Cultural Post | See recent The Cultural Post news »

Without being necessarily perfect, the film pretends to offer more than its counterparts who excessively rely on CGIs. This might be slightly true. However, the story is fairly thin and we’re left with a simple and decent blockbuster. Nothing more. Nothing less.

Dr. Parnassus (Christopher Plummer) is 1000 years old. With the help of Valentina (Lily Cole), his fifteen-years-old daughter, along with Percy (Verne Troyer) and Anton (Andrew Garfield), Valentina’s friend, Dr. Parnassus runs a travelling show. In this show, a member of the audience is invited on stage in order to be sent on the other side of a mirror. Afterwards, he/she will be plunged into his/her own imagination.

However, there’s no amusement behind this and the troupe is seriously poor. Many centuries ago, Dr. Parnassus made a deal with the Devil (Tom Waits). In exchange of immortality, Dr. Parnassus must promise he’ll give »

You review: Sherlock Holmes

30 December 2009 1:43 AM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Did Guy Ritchie's retooled, shirtless Sherlock set your pulse racing or did he have you in stitches instead?

Guy Ritchie's take on Conan Doyle's classic English sleuth is not without its problems: his protagonist does not quite fit the action hero mould into which the much-maligned film-maker has squeezed him, and those who find Ritchie's more laddish tendencies distasteful may be dismayed by the movie's predilection for extreme violence. Nevertheless, the critics have just about bought Sherlock Holmes as an intermittently entertaining romp through a stylised Victorian London, thanks mainly to a barnstorming performance by Robert Downey Jr in the title role and its Dan Brown-lite storyline.

This Holmes is up against the villainous Lord Blackwood (Mark Strong), an apparently immortal pseudo-fascist necromancer who plans to lead England on a mission to reconquer America and eventually the world – presumably a heinous plan cooked up to speed »

But Ritchie is now thought to be eyeing Pitt for the role of Holmes' arch enemy Professor Moriarty in the follow-up movie.

Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr. have both reportedly already signed up for the second installment.

A source tells PopEater.com, "The director, Guy Ritchie, loves Brad. He has worked with him before and thinks he is one of the most underrated actors working today.
