Tom Cruise Wanted Money Mountain

26 December 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood actor Tom Cruise was set to play Jude Law's character in Cold Mountain before he demanded too much money, according to producer Sydney Pollack. The Last Samurai star was the first choice to take the lead in the American Civil War drama, but passed on it when a financial agreement could not be settled on - meaning he missed the chance to star opposite his ex-wife Nicole Kidman. Pollack says, "It was a combination of timing and egos. There was a huge problem in terms of what they wanted to get paid. This went on until Tom reached a point where he said, 'You know something? I don't want to do this any more.'" But Cruise says, "It was not the film I wanted to make at the time." »

Law Heavily Hints at Early Marriage Strife

12 December 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Hollywood hunk Jude Law has heavily hinted his problems with ex-wife Sadie Frost were going on for much longer than originally thought. Reports that the star's marriage was in trouble surfaced at the beginning of the year amidst persistent- but repeatedly denied - reports Law had grown particularly close to his Cold Mountain co-star Nicole Kidman whilst filming the upcoming movie last year. However, whilst the pair didn't officially separate until this summer, Law has now revealed filming Cold Mountain in Romania months before his last child with Frost - Rudy - was born in September was a welcome escape from personal pressures. He says, "It was a very hard, difficult long shoot, but it was a chance to escape from obvious pressures. It was a wonderful opportunity to concentrate on work. We were all able to lose ourselves in the film, and I think it came at a time when all of us were open to appreciate that kind of existence and could leave behind the traps we think we can't escape from." »

Jude and Sadie Plan Christmas Truce

5 December 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Divorced couple Jude Law and Sadie Frost are planning to put their differences behind them - to give their children a happy family Christmas. The Talented Mr Ripley actor has agreed to spend Christmas morning with Frost and their children Rafferty, Iris and Rudy, and Frost's son Findlay from her previous marriage to Spandau Ballet star Gary Kemp. But the pair will go their separate ways again later in the day when Jude returns to the home he shares with new lover Sienna Miller, whom Frost has banned from ever entering her house. A source close to the former spouses says, "Sadie is so relieved that she and Jude are on more civil terms but she draws the line at playing hostess and being all chummy with his new girlfriend. She and Jude have been speaking again and hopefully the worst of the bitterness is behind them. Christmas day will be the first time they've all been together since the divorce started in February. They have made a pact not to argue or say horrible things to each other in front of the children." Since their divorce was finalized in October Sadie has found love again with guitar player Jackson Scott, while Jude is reportedly besotted with Miller, his co-star in upcoming remake Alfie. »

Nicole Kidman and Jude Law have finally put paid to reports they had an affair on the set of new movie Cold Mountain in a TV interview. The pair sat down with American newswoman Barbara Walters to talk frankly about the rumors, which ended with Kidman winning a large settlement from Britain's Daily Mail. Law simply shook his head when he was asked by Walters if there had been a romance, while Kidman admitted she felt someone got carried away with their kissing and lovemaking scenes on the set. She explained, "We know each other in a very deep way now. I've kissed the man when the cameras were rolling, I've laid there when the cameras are rolling. I mean that's not the norm - but nothing gets crossed over into your personal life." Cheeky Walters admits she would have been tempted to fall for Law if she was on a movie set with him. After conducting the interview for news show 20/20, she said, "He's awfully cute. I might have done him." »

Zellwegger Dumped for "Bridget Baggage"

10 November 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Renee Zellwegger has split from rocker Jack White for good - because he hated her Bridget Jones's Diary routine. The American star has piled on the pounds again to play the neurotic title character in upcoming sequel The Edge Of Reason - and her 'becoming' Bridget proved too much for edgy White Stripes frontman Jack, who's finally walked away from their on-off relationship. Insiders say Jack was worried Renee's middle-of-road Bridget persona would affect his own work, making him less dynamic. A source on the film's set reveals, "It looks like it's all over for Renee and Jack - and for good this time. Things have looked bleak for a while but there have been plenty of phone calls to give them hope, falsely as it now turns out. The bottom line is that Jack didn't want to lose his creative edge. Cuddly nights in with piles of junk food are just not for him. He's told her to get in touch after she's finished this project and shed the Bridget baggage. Jack sees it as a lifestyle choice, that combined with the distance between them equals a temporary dead end. Renee thinks he's just being shallow. There's no way she'll go back for more." The pair met while filming Cold Mountain, the hotly-tipped Jude Law and Nicole Kidman film that was Jack's Hollywood debut. »

Jude Law Moves In with Sienna

4 November 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

The ink is barely dry on his divorce papers, but Jude Law is moving in with new love Sienna Miller already, according to reports. The Road To Perdition hunk - whose marriage to Sadie Frost officially ended last week - is moving into a 'love nest' with his Alfie co-star in New York, once filming moves from England to the American city next week. According to British newspaper The Daily Express, Brit Law, 30, plans to share an apartment with Miller, 20, for the three weeks of filming so their burgeoning romance can blossom away from prying eyes. A source says, "They are planning to move into a small apartment in a quiet area of New York for the three weeks of filming so they can have a romantic private time. They can't wait to go somewhere where they will be more anonymous and able to walk down the street holding hands without being photographed. Jude will also be away from the responsibility of his children and can throw himself into his work and new romance." Jude's ex-wife Sadie - with whom he has three young children - has already dismissed his relationship with Miller as a "silly fling." She is currently dating 22- year-old musician Jackson Scott. The new lovebirds will return to Britain on December 3 once filming has finished on the Michael Caine remake. »

Frost: Jude Made Me Sick

30 October 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Sadie Frost has accused former husband Jude Law of making her ill during their turbulent marriage. The screen beauty - whose six year union with the Road To Perdition hunk was officially terminated at London's High Court yesterday - claims Law treated her so badly, she was forced to seek medical help. Sadie was granted a quick divorce on account of the actor's admitted unreasonable behavior, and, according to friends, she wanted "the world to know" her motives for splitting with Law. In her sworn affidavit, she wrote, "The respondent's behavior increased the effects of postnatal depression, leading me to have to take treatment three times." A pal of the designer says, "She wrote this knowing it would be made public. She wanted the world to know what kind of person Jude is and how she had to go to hospital with baby blues as a result of Jude's bad behavior." »

Trouble within their five-year union reached its peak earlier this year when police were twice called to the home of the couple in Primrose Hill, London, after some violent bust-ups. Sadie subsequently filed for divorce from the Road To Perdition star. A pal says, "It is very sad that it has come to this but Sadie felt she had no other choice." Jude Law KO's Beckham Film Deal

25 September 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Cold Mountain hunk Jude Law has pulled out of a film deal with high-profile couple David Beckham and Victoria Beckham after becoming concerned of the amount of press the move would bring him. Jude, 30, has been left shell-shocked by the huge amount of tabloid coverage given to the break-up of his marriage to Sadie Frost and is reluctant to get involved in the media circus which surrounds the soccer hero and his singer wife. Earlier this month the Oscar nominee had met up with the Real Madrid player after a football match and they talked over an idea to make short films together via Jude's production company Riff Raff UK Ltd. A source tells British tabloid The Daily Mirror, "Jude thinks David is a top guy but he's decided not to go ahead with it. Jude values his privacy and doesn't want to get caught up in the whole Beckham circus. They'd only discussed various projects briefly during the meeting and were horrified when their plans were leaked. Jude said he had not spoken to anybody about their conversation and is furious that it got out so soon. He says it's not worth it." »

Mariah's Photo Fury

24 September 2003 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Director Brett Ratner found his famous friends most amenable when he decided to release a book of candid photos - except for singer Mariah Carey. The Red Dragon film-maker has created Hillhaven Lodge: The Photo Booth Pictures, a new book containing shots his A-list pals have taken of themselves in the black-and-white photo booth he bought for his Hollywood home. Most of those who posed - a star-studded list which includes Michael Jackson, Britney Spears, Ralph Fiennes, Liv Tyler, Justin Timberlake, Colin Farrell, Paris Hilton, Kim Cattrall, Sean 'P Diddy' Combs, Jude Law and Heidi Klum - were more than happy to okay the book. But Ratner laughs, "Everybody in the book is a personal friend, so I didn't have to contact anyone for permission. But some people had vanity issues. "I had to send Mariah Carey - who's a very good friend of mine - the pictures to let her know which ones I would use. Some of them have to have image control." »
