On a side note, we’ve heard a whisper today that the first trailer for Batman v Superman will be with us on April 4th. This is unconfirmed, and there may be nothing to it so please don’t take it as gospel. Our money is on the first trailer coming with Mad Max: Fury Road. But you never know…

Cannes: New Movies From Pixar, Woody Allen Expected at 68th Film Festival

26 March 2015 11:55 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

There are still three weeks to go before the Cannes Film Festival unveils its official-selection lineup, but so far, the latest Pixar 3D animated extravaganza and new films from Woody Allen, Todd Haynes, Jeff Nichols, Denis Villeneuve and Arnaud Desplechin appear to be securing their positions in the event’s 68th annual edition (May 13-24).

In keeping with his longtime habit of avoiding festival accolades, Allen will likely receive an out-of-competition berth for his 45th feature, “Irrational Man,” starring Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone (who starred in the director’s “Magic in the Moonlight”). Among other U.S. fare, Cannes will get an early start on the summer blockbuster season with Disney/Pixar’s feature toon “Inside Out,” marking a second trip to the Croisette for director Pete Docter (who co-helmed with Ronaldo Del Carmen) after his “Up” opened the festival in 2009. As already announced, George Miller’s “Mad Max: Fury Road, »

Sneak Peek the first official look @ actor Jesse Eisenberg, playing young 'Lex Luthor', plus a behind-the-scenes look at the actor, with and without his hairpiece, on the Detroit, Michigan set of director Zack Snyder's "Man Of Steel" sequel, "Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice":

The original 'Alexander Joseph "Lex" Luthor', created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster, debuted in "Action Comics" #23 (April 1940), with a full head of red hair...

...described as "...a power-mad, evil scientist" of high intelligence and incredible technological prowess.

Luthor's ultimate goal of killing 'Superman' was to be a stepping stone to his evil domination of the universe.

In subsequent comic books, Luthor became hairless as the result of an artist's mistake. A 1960 story by Jerry Siegel expanded upon Luthor's origin and motivations, revealing him to be a childhood friend of Superman's who lost his hair when a fire destroyed his laboratory. »

'Suicide Squad': 'Aquaman' Connection Revealed?

26 March 2015 8:06 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Though Suicide Squad is not necessarily tied directly into Justice League, we know that it is part of DC and Warner Bros.' expansive cinematic universe. So, many believe that this third film in their planned series will somehow connect to Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice. While it has been widely rumored that both Ben Affleck's Bruce Wayne and Jesse Eisenberg's Lex Luthor will make appearances at some point, Latino Review is back with yet another rumor that claims the movie will also tease a connection to Aquaman. It seems that Amanda Waller, who brings this group of super villains together for an impossible mission, has had her own run in with the legendary Atlantis superhero.

In a recent interview, Viola Davis called her Amanda Waller a brutal badass. That may be true if this latest tidbit proves to be accurate. According to El Mayimbe, Waller is »

'Batman v Superman' Plot Rumor Gives Reason for Big Fight

25 March 2015 6:05 PM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

Early this morning, it was finally revealed that Jesse Eisenberg is in fact playing a very bald Lex Luthor. The ultimate DC Comics villain was unveiled in his new big screen incarnation in honor of the one year wait we still have for Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice to hit theaters. And over the next twelve months, more and more of the virtually unknown plot will surely leak out. Badass Digest is helping that idea along with new story details, which give us a reason why the last son of Krypton and The Dark Knight are throwing fists in each other's direction. And if this rumor pans out, it looks like it's all Lex Luthor's fault.

It's no secret that Bruce Wayne and Kal-El are going to go toe-to-toe in an epic battle that is said to come halfway through the movie, before these two team up to take on a common foe. »

Bad, Bald & Dangerous To Know: Jesse Eisenberg As Lex Luthor

25 March 2015 10:46 AM, PDT | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

We’ve had a good look at the premier cosplayers in Zack Snyder’s Batman v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, from the caped crusaders to Wonder Woman to Aquaman. But what about the enemies they’ll be up against? Well, Warner Bros and Entertainment Weekly have now given us our first point blank image of Jesse Eisenberg as the Man Of Steel’s chrome-domed nemesis Lex Luthor…

It’s perhaps not a great surprise that Eisenberg has shaved his head for the role, though this was obviously a topic of debate amongst fans. The character isn’t known for his lustrous locks, though Gene Hackman jumped between scalpy and curly during his time as Luthor in WB’s original franchise.

Snyder also remarked that a new approach will be taken to DC’s nefarious capitalist in line with his unusual casting choice:

The first picture of Jesse Eisenberg as Lex Luthor from Zack Snyder's Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice has just premiered. Much was made over whether or not Eisenberg would have hair or not and I think this pretty much answers that question. Snyder was quoted by Entertainment Weekly, who premiered the pic, saying, "He's not any of the Lexes that you've seen, that's for sure, other than him being a captain of industry and one person to the world and another person to himself. And bald, of course. Our Lex is disarming and he's not fake. He says what he believes and he says what's on his mind. If you can unravel the string and decipher what he means, it's all there." Next year's DC Comics adaptation Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice not only brings Batman (Ben Affleck) and Superman (Henry Cavill) together on the big screen for the first time, but it also introduces Justice League members Wonder Woman (Gal Gadot), The Flash (Ezra Miller), Aquaman (Jason Momoa) and Cyborg (Ray Fisher). During a recent interview, Gal Gadot spoke about criticisms about how her body type wasn't right for Wonder Woman, her character's powers, and much more. First, though, she spoke about how long she had to wait before learning she had won the role.

"I never had to wait so long for a reply. It was a month and a half of torture. It was a crazy roller-coaster. I couldn't talk about it to anyone. On the day they promised a reply I was flying to NY for another gig. When the plane landed I saw I had a lot of missed calls. »

'Pretty Woman' Turns 25! Go Behind the Scenes with 21-Year-Old Julia Roberts

Pretty Woman turns 25!

Can you believe it? It's been 25 years since the Gary Marshall romantic comedy first swept us off our feet. This year marks the silver anniversary of the movie that catapulted Julia Roberts into superstardom when it first premiered in 1990. The whole world fell for Roberts' irresistible smile and Et got to see it first on the set a year earlier.

At just 21 years old, Roberts was cast as Vivian Ward, a hooker with a heart of gold who is romanced by Edward Lewis, a millionaire tycoon played by Richard Gere. "He's really supportive, giving actor," she told Et in 1989. "It's so nice to be there with someone who, I feel like when I feel good about my work he'll support that."

Gal Gadot responds to criticism of her Wonder Woman casting in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice

During an interview with Robot Underdog, Gal Gadot has been speaking about her upcoming role as Wonder Woman in next year’s DC ensemble Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and more specifically, the criticism levied towards her casting as the Amazon Princess.

'Batman v Superman' Script Is Amazing Says Jeremy Irons

21 March 2015 11:33 AM, PDT | MovieWeb | See recent MovieWeb news »

While it may seem like it's taking Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice longer to reach the big screen than most modern blockbusters, it's only because we heard about it so early in the process. Still, more than two years after it was first announced at Comic-Con 2013, there is so much we don't know about the actual story. We know that it has an epic fight between its two title characters. And we also know that it sets up Justice League Part 1. But the plot remains a mystery. And so does Jeremy Irons' take on iconic Butler and all-around servant Alfred. The actor himself isn't doing anything to make the picture any clearer. But he does have much praise for the screenplay.

Jeremy Irons attended the Lucca Film Festival this past week. And of course, he was asked about working with director Zack Snyder in creating a new take »
