Longoria's Globe Snub Over Dying Aunt

17 December 2004 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Desperate Housewives star Eva Longoria fears she was refused a Golden Globe nomination because she missed the Hollywood Foreign Press Association's (HFPA) lunch to visit her dying aunt. The actress, who plays Gabrielle Solis in the hit ABC drama, complains she was snubbed by the HFPA because seeing her beloved aunt for the last time was more important to her than improving her profile abroad. While Longoria's acting talents weren't recognized this year, her four of her co-stars - Marcia Cross, Teri Hatcher, Felicity Huffman and Nicolette Sheridan - all up on for awards at the January ceremony. She explains, "I didn't go to the Hollywood Foreign Press luncheon. I had a very sick aunt in Texas, and that was the last time I was going to see her. They were giving her last rites, and she was like a grandmother to me. I think that not going to the lunch contributes to the fact that the foreign press doesn't know me. I'm brand new, and I didn't meet them - and they were upset that I didn't go. It's always a disappointment whenever you don't get an accolade from the industry." »

She blasts in a statement, "I'd be very interested to know who is feeding (the rumors) or whether they sprung whole cloth from their feverish, overactive and inaccurate imaginations." »

Hatcher Takes Stripper Classes To Keep in Shape

28 September 2004 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Teri Hatcher has taken up a sexy method of keeping her curves firm - exercise classes based on stripping. The former Lois & Clark star is currently a devoted student at the Sheila Kelley's S Factor in Los Angeles, and she's thrilled with the results it has had on her body. Hatcher, who insists all students stay fully clothed during lessons, says, "It's all geared around stripping moves and we actually dance on a pole and we learn how to lapdance. I know it sounds funny, but it's great for all your muscles and it's actually really empowering because it's not about turning a guy on - it's about turning yourself on and learning to be comfortable with your own body." On Friday, Hatcher displayed her skills to excited comedian Jay Leno on his chat show. »

Hatcher Benefits From Other Actresses' Diva Demands

27 September 2004 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Screen beauty Teri Hatcher is elated so many of her fellow actresses are divas - because their antics helped land her a role on her upcoming soap opera Desperate Housewives. The former Lois & Clark star, 39, will be making a return to TV screens in the anticipated series, which is set to make its debut next month, and she's aware that she won a role on the show because other actresses made demands bosses were not prepared to meet. She says, "I know there are people who didn't get my part because they wanted a bigger trailer. I think, 'Thank God they wanted that bigger trailer.' There are lots of things that fell into place for me to make this happen. I'm not trying to be corny or weird about it. I'm just grateful." »
