Live Fast, Die Young – TV Shows Gone Too Soon

29 December 2013 2:34 PM, PST | Blogomatic3000 | See recent Blogomatic3000 news »

Television is a crazy medium, even moreso than film. It’s a medium where all the big TV studios can tout a new show as groundbreaking, edgy and any other buzzwords that they have in their wheelhouse at that time. Then, with a swift blade, they cut it down. And after that death, it languishes in a field of dead cult television. Why kill a great show? The short answer is … money. The longer answer is more complex and requires a series of Venn diagrams, and frankly I don’t have the budget for that. See, the funny thing is, ratings will kill a blossoming show. Period. It doesn’t matter if the biggest world renowned critic or your mother love it, if people aren’t watching then no one should. The sad thing is, so many good shows burn out and fade away because the show is too high-concept or edgy. »

Zoe Bell Up For Expendables Female-Fronted Spin-Off

19 December 2013 7:09 AM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

If you were asked to pull together an ensemble of the most kick-ass actresses in Hollywood, who would be on your shortlist? For us, Zoe Bell would definitely make that cut. Sure, she's not as famous as Sigourney Weaver, Linda Hamilton or Uma Thurman, but as a stuntwoman turned leading lady, she has a clear edge over her competition as we see it. Thankfully, Millennium Films seems to agree, and has reached out to Bell about their in-development Expendables spin-off, The ExpendaBelles. Speaking with Bell about her upcoming actioner Raze, Crave Online asked about The ExpendaBelles project. She responded: "I have not yet [been offered] but we should print that they should. I.ve been in and I.ve met. Yes, I.ve had meetings with people but they haven.t got a director attached yet so that.s the next thing. I would obviously love to be involved in »

18 December 2013 5:00 AM, PST | ScifiMafia | See recent ScifiMafia news »

We’ve been reporting on the Terminator reboot, now titled Terminator: Genesis, since this summer and last we heard, Game of Thrones director Alan Taylor (also know for Thor: The Dark World) had been attached to the project. Now that the ink is dry on his contract and Arnold Schwarzenegger is set to be the loveable robot it’s time to start letting those casting reports roll in.

Looks like Alan Taylor is going to be reuniting with Game of Thrones star Emilia Clarke in the role of Sarah Connor (originally played by Linda Hamilton), according to THR, who is also reporting that Jason Clarke (Dawn of the Planet of the Apes) is rumored to be in talks to play an older John Connor. We’ll keep you posted on how that hashes out. They’ve also got a heads up on the plot as well. Check out what they said below. »

‘Terminator: Genesis’ Has Found Its Sarah Connor

16 December 2013 11:43 AM, PST | LatinoReview | See recent LatinoReview news »

News broke over the weekend that Emilia Clarke, one of the stars of HBO’s Game of Thrones, would be assuming the role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming reboot of the Terminator films. The role was originated by Linda Hamilton, who played Connor in The Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgement Day. Most recently, Clarke’s Thrones co-star, Lena Headey, played the character on the short-lived TV series The Sarah Connor Chronicles.

Clarke had been rumored to be a front-runner for the role for several weeks, up against Brie Larson (21 Jump Street). She is the first official cast member to come onboard the production outside of Arnold Schwarzenegger- who has a deal to reprise his role as the T-800 cyborg sent from the future to protect Connor. Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is said to be in final talks to play her son, John. It’s been reported that »

Emilia Clarke Will Play Sarah Connor in New 'Terminator' Movie

13 December 2013 9:18 PM, PST | Rope of Silicon | See recent Rope Of Silicon news »

It was previously rumored "Game of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke was the front-runner for the role of Sarah Connor in Terminator: Genesis, the latest attempt to resuscitate the franchise and today it was confirmed she will indeed play the character originated by Linda Hamilton in James Cameron's 1984 original. Thor: The Dark World helmer, Alan Taylor, who previously directed six episodes of "Thrones" for HBO, will direct the picture, which already landed Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) as Sarah Connor's son, John. Additionally, Arnold Schwarzenegger is expected to return as his iconic cyborg character, though plot details are nil. The film is set for a July 1, 2015 release and is already planned as the first film in a new trilogy. Let's just hope they make three actual films, and not three chapters entirely dependent on the sequel to exist and be appreciated as a singular project. »

Terminator: Genesis Casts Emilia Clarke As Sarah Connor

13 December 2013 6:54 PM, PST | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Everybody’s favorite badass film heroine this side of Ripley has been cast in the upcoming Terminator: Genesis. Yes, that’s right, Sarah Connor will be portrayed by Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke, who will co-star alongside Jason Clarke as John Connor. And before you ask, no, they are not related, though it is kind of neat that they both have the same last name.

Sarah Connor was originally played by Linda Hamilton in the James Cameron entries and her performance is a classic. The totally believable desperation in the first Terminator film and her snappy, endlessly quotable dialogue in Terminator 2: Judgement Day means that Emilia Clarke has certainly got some big shoes to fill. Other than her recent role on HBO’s Game of Thrones, the actress doesn’t have too much of a resume. Still, she’s proven to be one tough chick on the aforementioned »

Emilia Clarke to play Sarah Connor in Terminator Reboot

13 December 2013 4:41 PM, PST | HeyUGuys.co.uk | See recent HeyUGuys news »

The search is over. The new Terminator reboot has found its Sarah Connor, with Game of ThronesEmilia Clarke officially cast in the role.

Last month, we heard that Clarke was on the short-list for the role, alongside Brie Larson (Short Term 12) and Margot Robbie (About Time), with the hotly contested role reportedly coming down to just Larson and Clarke, with the latter ultimately chosen.

Jason Clarke (Zero Dark Thirty) is in talks to take the role of John Connor, who of course is Sarah Connor’s son. And given the differing age gaps between the two, you can be sure that there’ll be some time travel to look forward to in the reboot.

For many, Linda Hamilton is the version they picture when they think of Sarah Connor, playing her in Terminator and Terminator 2: Judgment Day. But for me, it will always be Lena Headey that »

'Game of Thrones' Star Emilia Clarke Will Play Sarah Connors In 'Terminator: Genesis'

13 December 2013 4:33 PM, PST | The Playlist | See recent The Playlist news »

All hail and bow down to Daenerys Targaryen. While Brie Larson and "Wolf Of Wall Street" sexpot Margot Robbie were among the actresses vying for the coveted role of Sarah Connors in the new "Terminator" reboot, "Terminator: Genesis," it is "Game Of Thrones" star Emilia Clarke who has officially anded the gig. To be directed by Alan Taylor (not so coincidentally a "Game Of Thrones" helmer and the filmmaker behind "Thor: The Dark World"), "Terminator: Genesis" is quickly taking shape and that's a given considering its July 1st, 2015 release date (right around the corner in tentpole years). "Zero Dark Thirty" star, Jason Clarke (no relation), up for a lot of roles these days, is still in negotiations to play her son John Connor in a storyline which evidently involves a trip into the future (makes sense, given the difference between Emilia and Jason's age). There's been two Sarah Connors over the years, »

'Game of Thrones' Emilia Clarke is 'Terminator' reboot's Sarah Connor

13 December 2013 4:15 PM, PST | Pop2it | See recent Pop2it news »

Emilia Clarke is no longer just going to be known as Daenerys Targaryen. The "Game of Thrones" Khaleesi has been confirmed for the role of Sarah Connor in the upcoming "Terminator" reboot.

Deadline announced the news, which will have Clarke working again with former "Game of Thrones" director Alan Taylor. He directed six "Game of Thrones" episodes including Season 1's "Baelor" (the one where Ned gets killed), the Season 1 finale, the Season 2 premiere and the Season 2 finale. Taylor's latest directorial effort was Marvel's "Thor: The Dark World."

Rumor of Clarke's potential involvement was announced back in November. She was in contention up against the likes of Brie Larson, Margot Robbie and "Orphan Black's" Tatiana Maslany.

At the time, it was reported that the casting of John Connor would wait until after Sarah Connor was cast. The most likely candidate for that part is "Zero Dark Thirty's" Jason Clarke. »

It looks like Emilia Clarke (Game of Thrones) has won out for the role of Sarah Connor in Skydance/Annapurna Pictures/Paramount's Terminator reboot.  The decision was down to Clarke and Brie Larson (Short Term 12) as to who would play the character made famous by Linda Hamilton's badass performance in the original films.  Clarke would play the mother to John Connor, a hero of the human revolution against the machines; Jason Clarke is currently in talks for the role. (Hey, at least they already have a last name in common.)  Due to the near-twenty-year age difference between the two Clarkes, there's likely a time-travel element to the reboot, which is due out July 1, 2015.  Hit the jump for more. ‘Game Of Thrones’ Emilia Clarke Set For ‘Terminator’ In Sarah Connor Role

Exclusive: It’s official. Emilia Clarke will play Sarah Connor in the Terminator reboot, re-teaming with director Alan Taylor, who has worked with Clarke in the HBO series Game Of Thrones. Clarke joins Jason Clarke, who is in negotiations to play her son John Connor in a storyline I’ve heard involved a trip into the future. Deadline revealed that he was in talks earlier this week. Arnold Schwarzenegger is also back in his signature cyborg role. This was a hotly contested role and it came down to Clarke and Brie Larson. Both actresses tested for the producers at David Ellison’s Skydance and Megan Ellison’s Annapurna, and Paramount, which will release the film in July 2015. Clarke’s breakout role came in Thrones, where she plays the dragon-commanding heroine Daenerys Targaryen in that massive HBO series, and is probably the most sympathetic of all vying to rule.
