How Harvey Weinstein Drove the PGA to Combat Sexual Harassment on Set

PGA presidents Lori McCreary and Gary Lucchesi knew they needed to act.

The allegations of sexual assault against Harvey Weinstein were so horrifying that the Producers Guild of America quickly initiated a process of banning him for life from membership in the guild. But as the cascade of accusations grew along with the #MeToo movement, Lucchesi and McCreary realized the moral imperative for a more formal statement of guidelines and best practices for its 8,200 members to better guard against abuses on movie sets.

“We put together a task force with a great diversity of members from the studio world the indie world, television, and streamers,” McCreary told Variety. “We tried to get a cross-section of producers. The thing I found very heartening was that we called on some of the busiest producers in the business and every single person on our list said yes.”

Lucchesi, president of Lakeshore Entertainment, said most PGA members felt the urgency to take

Will the 2018 SAG Awards Only Feature Female Presenters?

Will the 2018 SAG Awards Only Feature Female Presenters?
Are Hollywood’s leading ladies going to be completely in charge at the Screen Actors Guild Awards this year? Sort of.

In December, it was revealed that all 13 acting categories would be presented by women in response to the #MeToo movement. The announcement arrived prior to the start of the Time’s Up movement, which had a strong showing at the Golden Globes. Additionally, Kristen Bell will serve as SAG’s first-ever host.

The Guild recently added some men to its slate of presenters — but the selected few will only be on hand to introduce clips from their nominated films

Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman Square Off in Teaser For Doritos Vs. Mountain Dew Super Bowl Ad

Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman squaring of in this teaser for a Doritos vs. Mountain Dew ad for the Superbowl is kind funny but short, no pun intended. It makes you wonder just what’s going to happen when the ad runs fully during the biggest game of the year for the NFL. This is that time of year when advertisers start digging deep into their pockets for a one to one and half minute spot during Superbowl Sunday. I’ve heard rumors of how much an ad can cost during the Superbowl, and at this point around $5 million buys a

SAG Life Achievement Honoree Morgan Freeman Proves Life Can Begin at 50

SAG Life Achievement Honoree Morgan Freeman Proves Life Can Begin at 50
When Morgan Freeman receives the Screen Actors Guild’s Life Achievement Award on Jan. 21, the honor will feel triumphantly inevitable. At 80 years old, his impressive resume includes 84 films, two Golden Globes, and an Oscar. But there’s a difference between Freeman and past winners, including Elizabeth Taylor and Gene Kelly. Freeman didn’t get his Hollywood break until he was 50. He’s earned his statue in half the time.

Freeman was born to act. The first night he walked onstage, the then-third grader felt so at ease, he claims he could have fallen asleep. “I was a show-off,” he admitted. His mother, Mayme, joked she was going to take him to Hollywood, but with four kids and no money, he just kicked back and forth between relatives in Mississippi and Chicago. At 13, Freeman won his first acting award when his performance as a World War II soldier took top place in a statewide school drama competition. He spent

Morgan Freeman, Peter Dinklage Face Off in 2018 Super Bowl Ad

In a savvy business move, Mountain Dew and Doritos have teamed up for their Super Bowl commercial, and they've called in two actors to help out.

Peter Dinklage and Morgan Freeman star in a 15-second teaser for the upcoming commercial, set to air Super Bowl Sunday (Feb. 4) on NBC. The two seem to be prepping for some sort of battle — with Freeman on the Mountain Dew Ice side and Dinklage on the Doritos Blaze side — as they face each other in a dark room, silent except for the sound of a chopped-and-screwed Missy Elliott song.

And while the collaboration is notably creative, these...

Rotten Tomatoes Reports that ‘Halloween’ Director John Carpenter Died (He Didn’t)

With the modern, 24-hour news cycle – especially within the comparatively niche realm of “entertainment news” – it’s inevitable, if not understandable, that news outlets will occasionally get things wrong. Sometimes it’s an April Fool’s Day joke that goes over people’s heads, sometimes it’s a juicy bit of gossip that gets repeated as fact. Sometimes it’s just an honest mistake mixed with sloppy reporting. This is how, for instance, I excitedly told everybody I met that Marvel was buying out Fox… three years before it actually happened. This is how Morgan Freeman seems to die every April 1st. If it’s

‘Dear Dictator’ Trailer: Michael Caine Channels Fidel Castro — Watch
At 84, Sir Michael Caine finally gets the chance to play with Barbies onscreen. He’ll next star as General Anton Vincent — akin to a kindly, English-accented Fidel Castro — who seeks refuge with his teenage American pen pal (Israeli “Lady Bird” actress Odeya Rush) once he’s ousted from his British-Caribbean island. While hiding out in young Tatiana Miles’ closets and garage, the despot enlists her dolls to strategize a takedown of her suburban high school’s clique, The Slushies.

Katie Holmes plays Tatiana’s mom, a doctor’s office employee whose storyline involves getting her toes sucked by her boss (Seth Green). Also part of the comedy’s ensemble is Jason Biggs, cast as the teacher who fails to dissuade Tatiana from beginning her correspondence with Vincent. Set for distribution from Cinedigm, “Dear Dictator” is the latest collaboration of married writer-directors Lisa Addario and Joe Syracuse (2016’s “Amateur Night,” a
