Ed Harris And David Duchovny Face Off In Trailer For Submarine Thriller Phantom

27 December 2012 3:04 PM, PST | cinemablend.com | See recent Cinema Blend news »

David Duchovny has spent the bulk of his career working in television, but 2013 should be a pretty big hear at the movies for him. While the projects he's doing aren't exactly huge blockbusters, he has the Larry Moss-directed dramedy Relative Insanity, with Helen Hunt and Maggie Grace as well as Anthony Fabian's drama After The Fall with Timothy Hutton and Hope Davis. But while neither of those titles has a specific release date yet, the submarine thriller Phantom will be arriving in theaters this March and today we have the film's first trailer. The preview is posted over on Apple where you can see it in HD, or you can check it out in our player below. Phantom stars Ed Harris as Demi, a Soviet submarine captain who is pushed away from retirement and time with his wife and family and forced to go on a top secret mission. »

Phantom Trailer Surfaces

27 December 2012 1:26 PM, PST | EmpireOnline | See recent EmpireOnline news »

To be honest, word on cold war sub thriller Phantom has been running silent more than it has been running deep of late. We learned back in September 2011 that David Duchovny, Ed Harris and William Fichtner were on for Lonely Hearts director Todd Robinson’s new film, but nothing has struck the news sonar since then. It’s a hearty ping, then, for the trailer, which has surfaced at Apple and can be viewed above.Phantom finds Harris as the captain of a Soviet nuclear submarine who has been suffering weird seizures that shift his perception of reality. Naturally, he’s been keeping that from his superiors in the navy, and definitely when he’s ordered to set sail on a classified mission.Along for the ride is a group of technicians testing a secret new device, who turn out to be working for the Kgb and under the command »

Ed Harris battles David Duchovny in trailer for submarine thriller Phantom

24 December 2012 3:30 PM, PST | Movie Cultists | See recent Movie Cultists news »

Hobbits, super-heroes, and kid fighting to the death have taken over theaters, so can a submarine movie that takes place during the Cold War hold its own? It can when it stars Ed Harris and David Duchovny battling for command of a submarine.

I’m a big fan of Ed Harris so it’s nice to see him land a starring role in an action flick these days, and Duchovny gives off a good vibe as the bad guy that leads a mutiny, but the suspense-filled trailer doesn’t really show any of the elements that are hinted at in the synopsis. That doesn’t mean the trailer is bad; it just means (hopefully) that another trailer will be headed our way in the future that reveals a new angle.

Watch: Trailer for Submarine Thriller 'Phantom' with Harris, Duchovny

24 December 2012 11:14 AM, PST | firstshowing.net | See recent FirstShowing.net news »

"You understand this is completely classified?" Yep, it's Ed Harris & David Duchovny I'm talking about. Both of them in a Cold War submarine thriller called Phantom? Ohh yes. Wait, that's not all. The cast in this, beyond Harris and Duchovny, also includes some other fantastic actors: William Fitchtner, Sean Patrick Flanery, Johnathon Schaech and Lance Henriksen. Harris plays the captain of a Cold War Soviet missile submarine who has secretly been suffering from seizures that alter his perception of reality. There's some odd supernatural-y twists, but otherwise this just looks like another solid submarine thriller. Watch the first official trailer for Todd Robinson's Phantom, originally in high def from Apple: The Captain of a Soviet submarine holds the fate of the world in his hands. On a seemingly haunted vessel, with a rogue element on board, Captain Demi (Ed Harris) is forced to face his past in order to »

Poster and Release Date for Submarine Thriller Phantom

24 December 2012 8:20 AM, PST | shocktillyoudrop.com | See recent shocktillyoudrop news »

Phantom.  Is it Shock-worthy?  Isn't is Shock-worthy?  I've gone back and forth on covering this thriller that takes place on a submarine.  At the start of our coverage, it sounded like the film was going to be something like Below.  Then it started to look like it was something akin to Crimson Tide, but I've been told by those who have seen it that it does carry elements that would interest ShockTillYouDrop.com readers, so...we're back to covering Phantom.

Rcr Distribution picked up the film which stars Ed Harris, David Duchovny, William Fichtner, Lance Henriksen and Johnathan Schaech and it is due for a release on March 1, 2013.  Head inside for a synopsis and a larger look at the poster you see to the left.

Phantom movie poster - Ed Harris stars in submarine thriller

First poster for Phantom, starring Ed Harris, David Duchovny and William Fichtner This reminds me of Hunt for Red October, although the plot's different. Unfortunately for the film, that's the first thing readers will think of, and if they're big fans of Sean Connery and Alec Baldwin starrer Red October, will most-likely steer clear. The film opens March 1st, 2013 under the helm of writer and director Todd Robinson (Lonely Hearts, TV's "The Young Riders"). Also in the cast are Lance Henriksen, Jonathon Schaech, Sean Patrick Flanery and Jason Gray-Standord, so the names are there to secure some good home entertainment traffic. In Phantom, Ed Harris plays the captain of a Cold War Soviet missile submarine who has secretly been suffering from seizures that alter his perception of reality. Don’T Miss: Trailer For Phantom, Starring Ed Harris & David Duchovny!

22 December 2012 10:13 AM, PST | Filmofilia | See recent Filmofilia news »

This March the secret will surface – at least that’s the promise we can find in this short trailer for the upcoming Phantom movie which looks pretty interesting to me. I’m not sure what Todd Robinson‘s film has to do with horror, and I prefer that other – submarine thriller description, but what the hell, we have some ghosts of the past involved in the whole thing, so who knows…

Anyway, the movie is both written and directed by Todd Robinson and centers on the captain of a Soviet nuclear submarine (played by Ed Harris) who is forced into a secret mission, and charged with leading a covert mission cloaked in mystery.

Beside Ed Harris, Phantom also stars David Duchovny, William Fichtner, Lance Henriksen, Jonathon Schaech, Sean Patrick Flanery, Jason Gray-Standord and the movie is set to open on March 1st, 2013.

Does Poster For Submarine Thriller ‘Phantom’ Sink Or Swim?

22 December 2012 9:00 AM, PST | The Hollywood News | See recent The Hollywood News news »

Outside of television, has The X-Files and Californication star David Duchovny had any real success? And no, that genius cameo in Zoolander doesn’t count… and neither does completing a sex addiction treatment programme! We’ve all had those problems, right?

Duchovny’s new role however, sees him appear opposite four-time Oscar-nominee Ed Harris, as well as the much-loved cult duo William Fichtner and Lance Henriksen in Todd Robinson’s fact-based Phantom. The film follows the haunted Captain of a Soviet submarine who holds the fate of the world in his hands with the power to unleash Wwiii.

You can catch the ‘dodgy’ teaser trailer from earlier in the year Here, but we also have the first poster for the film set for cinemas 1st March 2013 (although a UK date is still to be confirmed). Fingers crossed we get a thriller to match or even beat the likes of Crimson Tide »

‘Tanking it’: 30 Rock and the End of Great Television

14 December 2012 12:27 AM, PST | Obsessed with Film | See recent Obsessed with Film news »

In this, the latest and confirmed to be last season of 30 Rock, the show’s extraordinary writers have once again found a way to self-reflexively speak to the experience of guiding the journey to its end. Already aware going in that this will be their concluding chapter, they have decided to acknowledge a familiar, if disheartening truth about episodic television: that frequently it all ends as an embarrassing, turgid mess. Far too often a program that was once a joy, perhaps compromised by the lust for ratings and longevity, overstays its welcome, becoming little more than an unrecognisable shadow of its former glory. Thankfully 30 Rock itself is at no risk of fading away or tipping over into drivel, but rather – as it so frequently does in its rapid-fire wit and self-aware irony – is acknowledging and gleefully riffing on this sad truism.

Bravo goes scripted, picks up Liz Tigelaar's 'The Joneses' and Krista Vernoff's 'Rita'

Known for voyeuristic reality series like the "Real Housewives" franchise and competition shows like "Top Chef" and "Work of Art," Bravo is making its first ventures into the world of scripted television. Deadline reports that Bravo has greenlit its first two scripted pilots, "The Joneses" and "Rita." It plans to launch scripted offerings by the end of next year.

"The Joneses" comes from one of our faves -- "Life Unexpected" boss Liz Tigelaar. It's based on the 2009 film which starred Demi Moore and David Duchovny. It follows a beautiful, ideal American family who moves into a wealthy suburb... and is soon revealed to not be a family at all. They're actually a team of "stealth marketers," infiltrating the community in order to sell products.

"The show has a fun voice but also speaks to consumerism, something that our unscripted series do too," says VP of scripted development Andrew Wang. Tigelaar, »
