Ant-man Featurette Plays Up Heist Element and Introduces the Crew

8 hours ago | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Marvel seems pretty confident that you know who Ant-Man is by now, or at least that you recognize Paul Rudd as the title character. The rest of the folks who share the screen with Rudd, however, haven't gotten quite as big a slice of the marketing pie. A new featurette serves to rectify that. In addition to playing up the Ocean's Eleven-style heist angle of the film, this new look at the film also introduces the members of Scott Lang's (Rudd) criminal crew: Michael Peña as Luis, Tip “T.I.” Harris as Dave, and David Dastmalchian as Kurt. With a team like this, what could possibly go wrong? Opening July 17th, Ant-Man also stars Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, Corey Stoll as Darren Cross aka Yellowjacket, Judy Greer as Maggie, Bobby Cannavale as Paxton, Wood Harris as Gale, Jordi Mollà as Castillo, and Michael Douglas as Hank Pym. »

Spoilers – There Will Be Spoilers For Ant-man In This Story…

…You Have Been Warned.

Still here? Good.

Mid credits:

One of the plot threads that runs through Ant-Man is Hank Pym telling his daughter Hope that she can’t be a superhero because “it’s too dangerous”. He is of course wrong, and the characters go out of their way to tell him so. Part of his problem is that his wife Janet, The Wasp, was killed during a mission they did together back in the day and he can’t stand to lose his daughter too. But when they are successful at the end of the movie, Hank Pym realises that Hope is ready. He takes her to his lab and reveals that he and Janet were working on a new Wasp suit, but she never got to use it. He then says that maybe they were just building it for Hope. »

Legendary Producer Jerry Weintraub Dies at 77

11 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Jerry Weintraub, the colorful and controversial producer whose films included “Nashville,” “Diner,” “The Karate Kid” and the trio of “Ocean’s Eleven” films, died Monday of cardiac arrest in Santa Barbara, Calif. He was 77. He had been in poor health recently.

When he received Variety‘s Creative Leadership Award in 2013, Weintraub told Variety that he had a yacht and a Rolls-Royce, but was “not a big Hollywood guy.” Some would disagree. He was actually an old-school Hollywood showman, who understood the relationship between production and marketing. He was also a snappy dresser — his shoes were colorful and fun — who knew how to work the room and how to work the press: He was always available to the media and when he had a film in release, he knew how to maximize public awareness.

But the showiness was backed by hard work. His savvy came after decades of performing in many different jobs in the industry. »

Ant-man TV Spot Reveals Avenger Cameo

5 July 2015 12:47 PM, PDT | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

A new Spanish-language TV spot for Marvel's Ant-Man reveals the presence of one of the Avengers. It's a brief shot, but it's almost impossible to miss. The TV spot gives no context as to why this particular Avenger shows up, or even if they are present in the movie in a larger sense or only the credit scenes. Still, we can surmise that perhaps they are there in order to help Paul Rudd's Scott Lang take his new Ant-Man suit for a test run, as teased during Matt's set visit interview. Then again, their arrival might be well after the feature itself is over, providing the connective tissue of the Marvel Cinematic Universe through the fan-favorite credit stingers. If you're happier not knowing, don't even scroll down to see the still image of the new TV spot because that's spoilery in and of itself. Also starring Evangeline Lilly as Hope Van Dyne, »
