31 December 2009 1:14 PM, PST | Manny the Movie Guy | See recent Manny the Movie Guy news »

With 2010 on the horizon, we say goodbye to the decade. At the movies, crime and fantasy dominated the last 10 years. It was also the decade of Heath Ledger with his phenomenal turns in .The Dark Knight. and .Brokeback Mountain..

We also saw our favorite auteurs putting their creative stamps on filmmaking. From the Coen brothers to Quentin Tarantino, the cinema was alive and well thanks to their auteurship.

Even though it was hard to whittle it down to just 10 movies, here are my picks of the Top 10 Best Films of the Decade from No. 10 to the best of the best!

10. .Memento. (2000) . Memory is at the center of .Memento. from writer-director Christopher Nolan. Guy Pearce plays a man suffering from short-term memory loss who.s trying desperately to hunt for the man who killed his wife. Told in reverse, Nolan did not merely use the backwards narrative as a gimmick but »

The 10 Most Anticipated Films of 2010

31 December 2009 9:38 AM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

For many people, a new year means a time for new habits, resolutions, and fresh starts.  For myself though, it’s always been about one thing and one thing only:  365 days of brand-new films!

And of course, Hollywood being Hollywood, there’s the usual litany of sequels, super-hero spectacle, remakes, and state-of-the-art Hollywood summer craziness filled with all manner of digital monsters and explosions.  But there’s also new films from Scorsese, Christopher Nolan, and - most intriguing of all - a ballet thriller from Darren Aronofsky.  Come on, admit it - you know you got excited when you heard the words “ballet thriller!”  All that, and we also see the return of Michael Douglas in his seminal role as Gordon Gecko.

Read on after the jump for my list of the ten films that - for reasons both good and bad - I’m most looking forward to seeing in the new year. »

McAvoy To Play Fleming In Movie?

31 December 2009 12:06 AM, PST | WENN | See recent WENN news »

James McAvoy has been tipped to play James Bond creator Ian Fleming in a new movie.

The Atonement actor has reportedly been approached to star as the writer in a biopic about his colourful life, including his role in World War II, his playboy lifestyle and his work as a journalist.

Although a source has denied McAvoy is "attached" to the movie, based on Andrew Lycett's biography of Fleming, Britain's The Independent newspaper reports a formal approach is thought to have been made to secure the Scottish star's involvement.

McAvoy is the second Hollywood star to be linked to a big screen biopic about Fleming - Leonardo DiCaprio and his production company announced in 2008 they will be producing a picture about the author. »

More Presenters Added to 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards

30 December 2009 9:00 PM, PST | Collider.com | See recent Collider.com news »

Nicole Kidman, Steven Spielberg and Sam Worthington have just been added to the list of presenters for this January’s 67th Annual Golden Globe Awards.  They join previously announced presenters Jennifer Aniston, Halle Berry, Colin Farrell, Matthew Fox, Julia Roberts and Mickey Rourke.  The show, hosted by the always funny Ricky Gervais, will be broadcast live on Sunday, January 17th on NBC (5 to 8 pm Pt, 8 to 11 pm Et).  More after the jump:

While I zero respect for the Hollywood Foreign Press as they always seem to vote for the studio that wined and dined them the best, I always watch the show as it’s loaded with big name presenters and they serve alcohol all night.  Even though the show is tame nowadays as everyone watches what they say, in the past you never knew what might happen as half the crowd was drunk and then getting on stage to accept an award. »

Deciphering Chris Nolan’s ‘Inception’

30 December 2009 3:36 PM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

So the first trailer for Christopher Nolan’s Inception recently appeared online, but I’m still hearing some people say that if the trailer wasn’t stamped with “from the director of The Dark Knight” they would have little motivation to actually care about the movie.

Now granted, Inception has maintained an air of almost total mystery every since we first learned of its existence, but with the clues that have been carefully sprinkled here and there, we here at Screen Rant think there’s enough potential for this to be a breakout film in 2010. We’ll explain why, with some hi-res photos helping to paint the picture (click on any still image below for a hi-res version).

So let’s take a crack at the most obvious question – What is Inception all about?

Leonardo DiCaprio’s latest flick “Inception” has all the elements to be a blockbuster sci-fi, fantasy action-adventure movie: Hot director, Christopher Nolan, hot leading lady, Marion Cotillard, and edgy hot co-star Ellen Page. Now, if only the plot makes sense. The latest trailer has just been released and it shows the film talking place in a mushy, squishy world, otherwise known as the mind. Think a blend of the “Matrix” movies and 1998’s “Dark City.” »

Leo DiCaprio Thinks Fast, Looks Hot in New Inception Trailer

30 December 2009 7:30 AM, PST | E! Online | See recent E! Online news »

It's got a hot leading man in the form of Leonardo DiCaprio; costars including a grown-up, post-Juno Ellen Page, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Cillian Murphy and Ken Watanabe; supercool visual effects; a heart-pounding score; and, oh yeah, it's director Christopher Nolan's first flick since his Dark Knight became the second-highest grossing film of all time behind James Cameron's Titanic. So what's the big idea? At first glance, it's a story about a guy who's out to steal some newfangled concept that allows people to build cities and other things in the matrix of their mind. It's no Vertigo. But it sounds like something Hitchcock would do if he were alive today. »

James McAvoy to Play Ian Fleming?

29 December 2009 9:10 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

Last year, Leonardo DiCaprio became a producer on an Ian Fleming biopic that was announced. DiCaprio's film company Appian Way boarded the project, according to an La Times report. Co-producer Andrew Lazar championed the original idea. "It's going to be very different from the Bond films," he told the Times. "There are a lot of different ways to crack biopics, but we're not trying to emulate a Bond movie... The idea that this guy's life informed the James Bond character is pretty fascinating."

Today comes word from Pajiba — quoting a source — that Palmstar Entertainment and Animus Films are developing an independently financed $40M biopic based on the life of Ian Fleming, and that James McAvoy is attached to star in the title role.

Currently using the working title, 'Ian Fleming', the movie will be about the man who gave birth to the character of James Bond, specifically focusing »

The New Trailer for Christopher Nolan’s ‘Inception’

29 December 2009 1:57 PM, PST | Fandango | See recent Fandango news »

We haven’t even hit 2010 yet, and already Christopher Nolan’s Inception is easily one of the most talked-about, buzzworthy films of the year. Sure, it might have a little something to do with the fact that his last film was The Dark Knight, but also because his follow-up stars Leonardo DiCaprio and looks a lot like The Matrix. Not much is known about Inception, except that it’s a sci-fi thriller that takes place within the architecture of the mind. Based on the trailer, it would appear DiCaprio is part of a team that can somehow enter the minds of others and retrieve valuable information. As such, the real trippy parts of the preview – like when the water is turned sideways or when the guys are fighting on the side of a wall – all probably take place...
