George Clooney Makes TV Return in Hulu’s Catch-22 Adaptation

It is interesting to note that George Clooney will be making a return to the TV screen via Hulu. In short, Clooney will be serving as not just the co-director but also one of the executive producers for an upcoming mini-series called Catch-22. Furthermore, he has stated his interest in playing the part of Colonel Cathcart, who is an important character but not the most important. Regardless, Catch-22 is based on the book of the same name by Joseph Heller, which remains much beloved in the present in spite of the fact that it was published in 1961. What Do

Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley Sexual Harassment Scandals Have Lead to ‘Systematic Change’ at PBS
In the wake of suspending both Charlie Rose and Tavis Smiley for sexual misconduct, PBS is enacting changes to help prevent similar misconduct in the future.

“It’s important we ensure that this isn’t just a moment and that we move on but we are looking into ways to create systematic change,” PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger said at the Television Critics Association press tour on Tuesday.

Kerger noted the bolstering of the network’s anti-harassment efforts, even though many of them had already existed, such as PBS’ whistleblower line, where workplace misconduct can be addressed. These calls “go directly to our board, not to management,” per Kerger. The network’s harassment policies, which had also been in place some months before the #MeToo movement started, requires that employees go through training once a year, with managers going through a second level of training.

George Clooney Is Heading To Hulu In A ‘Catch-22’

In November, we learned that George Clooney would be revisiting the “small screen” as the lead in a TV series adaptation of the Joseph Heller novel Catch-22. Now, we know that series will appear on Hulu.

Not only will Clooney star as Colonel Cathcart in the upcoming Hulu series, but he will also direct and executive produce it. The series will consist of six episodes and will follow the plot of the original, written story.

The book follows Captain John Yossarian, a member of the Us Air Force bomber crew in World War II. His commander, Cathcart (Clooney), continues to up the number of dangerous missions his crew has to undergo in an attempt to get promoted to general. If crew members like Yossarian continue to go on these dangerous missions, they can be technically deemed insane, therefore relieving them of army duty. But if they acknowledge this by asking to leave the army,

Hulu picks up George Clooney’s Catch-22 series

Back in November it was announced that George Clooney is set to direct and star in a six-part TV adaptation of Joseph Heller’s seminal novel Catch-22, and now it has been revealed that streaming service Hulu has picked up the project with a series order.

Catch-22 follows the life of Captain John Yossarian, a U.S. Army Air Forces B-25 bombardier, and explores the experiences of Yossarian and his fellow airman as they attempt to maintain their sanity while fulfilling their service requirements so that they may return home. The title refers to a set of paradoxical requirements whereby airmen mentally unfit to fly missions did not have to do so, but those who applied to stop flying were said to be showing a rational concern for their safety and were therefore deemed to be sane and had to fly.

“Catch-22 is a rare story that has withstood the test of time,

Everything You Need to Know About Catch-22, the Show Bringing George Clooney Back to TV

Award-winning and nominated jumps to "prestige" TV shows are all the rage with big movie stars like Nicole Kidman and Anthony Hopkins, so Clooney's decision to do so himself seems like a smart choice. The actor will star in and direct a six-episode, limited-series adaptation of the iconic novel, which Hulu's new chief content officer Joel Stillerman opened up about at the 2018 Winter Television Critics Association Press Tour, per The Hollywood Reporter. ‘The Handmaid’s Tale’ Season 2 Trailer: The Fight for Freedom Continues in Emmy-Winning Drama — Watch

It terrified us with its bleak vision of what America could become in Season 1 — and swept the Emmys and Golden Globes in the process. Now, Hulu’s searing adaptation of Margaret Atwood’s iconic dystopian novel is on the verge of continuing the story beyond the original ending of the book, to the toughest reaches of this brutal world.

Season 2, premiering this April, brings with it the return of Offred (Emmy and Golden Globe winner Elisabeth Moss) and (per the official Hulu summary) “her ongoing fight to free her future child from the dystopian horrors of Gilead. ‘Gilead is within you’ is a favorite saying of Aunt Lydia. In Season 2, Offred and all our characters will fight against – or succumb to – this dark truth.”
