Image Source: Everett Collection In 1998, Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman starred in the romantic comedy Practical Magic as Sally and Gillian Owens, two sisters who learned to cast spells at an early age while being raised by their crazy aunts, played by Dianne Wiest and Stockard Channing. Sally and Gillian are the bearers of a curse that has been in their family for several generations - the men they fall in love with are doomed to an untimely death, and they must come together and use their powers to fight the curse and find true love. While tons of people watched movies like Practical Magic - as well as The Craft and Hocus Pocus - the majority of us were only inspired to dress up as witches for Halloween or play "Light as a Feather, Stiff as a Board" at slumber parties. Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham’s ‘Fast and Furious’ Spinoff Gets 2019 Release Date

5 October 2017 4:45 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Universal Pictures has dated the untitled “Fast and Furious” spinoff for July 26, 2019, and is developing the film as a starring vehicle for Dwayne Johnson and Jason Statham.

The studio recently announced plans to push back “Fast and Furious 9” to 2020, opting to debut the spinoff in that summer slot instead. Sources tell Variety that the studio had already slated the film to go into production in August 2018 over the summer due to Johnson’s busy schedule. Dating the film for 2019 seemed like the logical next step, sources say. “Fast and Furious” architect Chris Morgan is penning the script.

Johnson and Statham will reprise their roles of special agent Hobbs and criminal mastermind Deckard Shaw, who team up on an undisclosed mission. Early on in the development of the story, sources said the two would hunt down Charlize Theron’s villainous Cypher after the events of “The Fate of the Furious,” but insiders say that it’s currently unknown »

With ‘Battle of the Sexes,’ the Co-Directors of ‘Little Miss Sunshine’ Finally Let the Sunshine of Reality In

24 September 2017 10:04 AM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Hollywood filmmakers can always find a dozen different rationales — integrity, naked sellout, treading water — for choosing their next project. So how, exactly, does one account for the careers of Jonathan Dayton and Valerie Faris? In 2006, the married co-directors of television commercials and fatally hip music videos (R.E.M., Red Hot Chili Peppers, Macy Gray, The Smashing Pumpkins) made their first feature film, “Little Miss Sunshine,” at which point they took possession of the buzz, the money, and the known movie universe.

The picture was adored by audiences — first at the Sundance Film Festival, and then, in the late summer, when it was released in theaters by Fox Searchlight. Critics, by and large, gave it their imprimatur of affection and acclaim. (I hated the movie, but we’ll get to that in a moment.) The awards love then followed suit: four Oscar nominations (for best picture, best original screenplay, best supporting actor, best »

20 September 2017 9:31 AM, PDT | Entertainment Tonight | See recent Entertainment Tonight news »

Olivia Munn felt a little robbed after agreeing to a cameo in the upcoming heist movie Ocean's Eight.

The 37-year-old actress is one of many stars to appear in a scene in the movie set at New York City's Met Gala, and shared during an interview with Entertainment Weekly Radio that she was not compensated for her time or reimbursed for the money she shelled out for hair, makeup and wardrobe to accurately portray the part of a celebrity attending the formal event.

“It actually cost me money to be part of Ocean’s Eight," Munn claimed. “They’re like, 'Do your own glam.' I got the dress -- and all that -- and then you submit the bills for it because I’m part of your movie. Then they’re [the producers] like, ‘Oh no, the bills come right back to you.’”

Leonardo DiCaprio Foundation Awards $20 Million in Environmental Grants

19 September 2017 6:39 PM, PDT | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »

Leonardo DiCaprio announced Tuesday that his foundation will give $20 million in grants to more than 100 environmentally focused organizations.

The new grants, ranging from wildlife and habit conservation and combating climate change to the defense of indigenous rights, increase the organization’s total direct financial impact to over $80 million since 1998.

“These facts have been presented to the world time-and-time again for decades. Quite simply, we are knowingly doing this to ourselves, to our planet and to our future, and the cost of our inaction is becoming clearer,” DiCaprio said during a Yale Climate Conference hosted by John Kerry. “Yet with all of this evidence – the independent scientific warnings, and the mounting economic price tag – there is still an astounding level of willful ignorance and inaction from the people who should be doing the most to protect us, and every other living thing on this planet.”

DiCaprio encouraged everyone to vote in midterm elections for political candidates who believe »

Olivia Munn Lost Money on ‘Ocean’s Eight’ Cameo, Says Studio Wouldn’t Pay for Met Gala Glam

19 September 2017 12:32 PM, PDT | The Wrap | See recent The Wrap news »

Olivia Munn has a glamorous cameo in the upcoming heist film “Ocean’s Eight” —  but it cost her a pretty penny. The “X-Men: Apocalypse” actress appears in a scene set at the annual Met Gala in New York City, alongside stars Sandra Bullock, Cate Blanchett, Rihanna and Sarah Paulson. Munn went all-out for wardrobe, hair and makeup (as one would for the actual event, hosted by Anna Wintour and largely considered the biggest night in fashion), and was shocked to see the production send back invoices for the costs she incurred.
