The Notable Films of 2010: Part Seven

29 December 2009 7:16 AM, PST | Dark Horizons | See recent Dark Horizons news »

Mother and Child

Opens: 2010

Cast: Naomi Watts, Annette Bening, Samuel L. Jackson, Kerry Washington

Director: Rodrigo Garcia

Summary: A tale of a mother and daughter, separated at birth, who struggle with the damage done by the most important person missing in their lives while a young African-Americn woman deals with an unwanted pregnancy and the adoption process.

Analysis: Scoring rave reviews in Toronto, the $7 million latest effort of Rodrigo Garcia ("Nine Lives," "Things You Can Tell Just By Looking At Her") once again shows off his skill at weaving multiple narratives together in clever and unexpected ways. At its heart it's an emotional family drama, but Garcia excels with his female characters which makes the involvement of Naomi Watts, Kerry Washington and especially Annette Benning thrilling.

The few criticisms levelled at the film were toward some pacing and credibility issues in the last act, but otherwise praised it for not »

First Pic of Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in ‘The Twilight Saga: Eclipse’ and ‘Remember Me’

22 December 2009 11:14 PM, PST | The Scorecard Review | See recent Scorecard Review news »

The first image to the third Twilight movie, Eclipse has finally popped up with Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart, and it’s very … blue. Released officially online today, the image has Bella (Stewart) and Edward (Pattinson) taking part in what seems to be one of their romantic past times – sitting on the grass and looking at each other. The Twilight Saga: Eclipse is due out June 30, 2010.

This second image is from Remember Me, a drama starring Robert Pattinson and Emilie de Ravin, along with Chris Cooper and Pierce Brosnan. This movie will be out March 12, 210.

As for the first picture, can anyone designate the moment in the book that the image might be from? Is there any significance with the dominating blue colors, or is it just a sign that the guy who directed Hard Candy is going back to the visual palette?

Robert Pattinson fans, prepare to swoon!

Summit Entertainment, the film studio behind the "Twilight" saga, released new pictures of R-Patz looking pale and intense in "Eclipse" and pale and intense in another upcoming Summit film, "Remember Me."

As you can see in the above "Eclipse" still, Robert as Edward Cullen shares a very tender, intimate moment with Bella (Kristen Stewart). If you can't wait till next June for your R-Patz fix though, there's more of him to go around.

In "Remember Me," which hits theaters three months earlier in March, Robert plays Tyler, who has a strained relationship with his dad (Pierce Brosnan) after a family tragedy but meets Ally ("Lost's" Emilie de Ravin), a girl who helps heal him ... through love and understanding.

Here he is dealing with dear old dad ...

And getting romantic ...

What's in the letter?

And we saved the best for last ...

And if I’m not mistaken, it’s the only film in which Larry Fishburne had a beard, making it both unique and stylish. Let us hope he brings it back soon.

Director: Renny Harlin

Summary: An American journalist, his cameraman, and a Georgian native get caught in the crossfire of the five-day Russia-Georgia conflict in August 2008, and then have to deal with their obligation to be impartial.

Analysis: A timely parable on war, or Hollywood propaganda filmmaking at its worst? Wherever it goes, especially in Europe and the former Soviet states, "Georgia" will cause a lot of talk and controversy as the incidents depicted are still so fresh in many's minds. Like all topics of the sort, it'll also have its strong supporters and detractors having opinions on the film long before a frame of footage is screened anywhere.

New ‘Percy Jackson’ International Trailer

18 December 2009 8:11 AM, PST | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

This summer we got our first look at the teaser trailer for the upcoming adaptation of  Percy Jackson & the Lightning Thief. It’s based on the first of a series of books by author Rick Riordan, about a teenage boy named Percy (being played by Logan Lerman) who discovers he is actually the son of the god Poseidon. Percy then sets out on a quest to stop a war between the gods.

A few months ago we got another look at Percy Jackson with the first official trailer, further solidifying early claims that the film bears more than passing resemblance to the Harry Potter franchise. And last month we got a look at the first international trailer, which showed off some of the special effects and magical elements of the story.

Now another new international trailer for Percy Jackson has been released and we have it here for your viewing pleasure. »
