For a while it looked like Matt Damon had left the action-packed life of rogue operative par excellence Jason Bourne far behind. Jeremy Renner starred in 2012’s The Bourne Legacy and was set to continue in the visceral vein of his predecessor. However, fans got a surprise when Damon announced his return to Robert Ludlum‘s butt-kicking chronicle, bringing regular collaborator Paul Greengrass along for the ride.
The star’s reappearance in one of his defining roles is a bit out of left field, but certainly not unprecedented when it comes to celluloid heroes and heroines resurrecting themselves for that extra sack of box office loot. So as Damon comes back to Bourne, let’s check out some other notable names who decided the show wasn’t quite over yet…

Kim Basinger, Jenny McCarthy, Charlize Theron, Madonna, Lindsay Lohan and Sharon Stone are just a few of the actresses who posed for the men’s magazine Playboy before it abandoned full nudity. In fact, the magazine became famous in large part by featuring Marilyn Monroe when she was one of the most famous, glamorous and celebrated of Hollywood stars. It’s clear Hugh Hefner has always had a close relationship with Hollywood — inviting both luminaries (and not-so-luminary celebrities) to visit his Playboy Mansion. He has sold it, but continues to live there. Also Read: Bill Cosby's Lawyers Cite Accuser's 'Hazy Recollections' in. »

This is the Pure Movies review of The Nice Guys, directed by Shane Black and starring Russell Crowe, Ryan Gosling, Angourie Rice, Matt Bomer, Margaret Qualley, Keith David and Kim Basinger. Set in 1970s Los Angeles, The Nice Guys is a throwback to remember. Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe both star as a mismatch twosome who become a team in a quest to find a missing young woman named Amelia (Margaret Qualley), whilst investigating the related death of a porn star. There is something deeply satisfying about laughing along with fellow cinema-goers to a flick as fun as this. This is an action film where gags and laughs are effortless. With an added substance to the silliness, The Nice Guys ticks all the boxes. »

Yesterday we brought you some news about the new additions to Supergirl for its second season, and now TV Line is reporting details on two newcomers for another DC show in Gotham season three.
According to the site, casting is underway for the character of Vicki Vale (played by Kim Basinger in 1989’s Batman), who is described as “an ambitious young journalist” and is in her late 20s. Given that David Mazouz’s Bruce Wayne is around 15 years old in the series, it’s probably safe to assume she isn’t going to be a love-interest for young Master Wayne.
In addition to Vicki Vale, the producers are also looking to cast a couple of series regular villains, including one “who learns people’s secrets and manipulates them to do his bidding (which sounds like the previously rumored arrival of The Mad Hatter) and a young villainess who uses her »

With production set to begin on the new seasons of many Fall TV shows next month, early casting is underway for new season regulars with word today from TV Line about key new faces coming to Fox's "Gotham" and The CW's "The Flash".
First up, journalist and occasional love interest character Vicki Vale is coming to "Gotham" - in this version she's in her twenties. The role is perhaps known best due to Kim Basinger's portrayel in Tim Burton's 1989 film.
Also today, The CW is reportedly set to cast a 'major recurring character' described in the notes thus: "Barry's slightly older, slightly geekier contemporary, a guy who is as smart as he is intuitive. As such, this newcomer doesn't buy Barry’s nice guy routine and sets out to learn what he's hiding - all while concealing some secrets of his own."
Meanwhile the site also says that »

After the release of the Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice Ultimate Edition trailer, fans have been going over the glimpses of new footage the trailer showed off. One particular image is piquing curiosity: the shot of Jena Malone speaking to Lois Lane at what appears to be The Daily Planet. Malone’s role has long been kept under wraps and she was originally going to appear in the theatrical version of the film, but had to be cut almost at the last minute. Since then her role has remained a mystery, but many fans thought they knew whom she was playing. Her appearance in this trailer opens up speculation once again, however, so let’s take a look at the characters she could end up playing.

The Nice Guys, 2016.
Directed by Shane Black.
When a debt collector catches up with his latest target, a hard-up private detective, they discover they’ve both been hired to find the same woman. As their paths keep crossing, they decide to pursue her together but, although they track her down, that’s just the start of the story. And their problems.
Russell Crowe isn’t the first name that springs to mind for a comedy. But in The Nice Guys, director Shane Black returns to much the same territory as Kiss Kiss Bang Bang (2005), so if Downey Jr. and Kilmer can do it……. And, with Ryan Gosling added to the mix, the result is a more mainstream offering, but with a gutsy humour all of its own.
And it starts as it means to go on, »

While Cannes Film Festival gave us a promising preview of what we can expect to arrive in theaters this fall, there’s still many more highly-anticipated films waiting to debut. Near the top of the list is a likely contender for fall festivals: Tom Ford‘s A Single Man follow-up Nocturnal Animals. Starring Jake Gyllenhaal, Amy Adams, Kim Basinger, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Michael Shannon, Isla Fisher, and Armie Hammer, Focus Features have now set a release date.
The drama will open on November 18th in limited release, opposite one of the best films of the year, Kenneth Lonergan‘s Manchester By the Sea (our review), which Roadside Attractions will put out. Opening nationwide that same day is WB’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them and Relativity’s The Disappointments Room. Ford’s film will expand further on November 23rd, before going wide on December 9th.

The Nice Guys, 2016.
Directed by Shane Black.
A mismatched pair of private eyes investigate the apparent suicide of a fading porn star in 1970s Los Angeles.
Anyone that managed to watch the Academy Awards this year also saw Russell Crowe and Ryan Gosling present an award at the festivities, and subsequently definitely had a hunch that director Shane Black (Iron Man 3, Kiss Kiss Bang Bang) was onto something with The Nice Guys. Let’s face it, most of the comedy at prestigious awards shows is flat-out terrible (mostly due to whoever writes the crap not wanting to piss off any of the celebrities attending), but these two hit it out of the park even with cheesy lines, showing great comedic chemistry together »

One of the reasons we still love Jennifer Lawrence is because she lacks a proper filter on her mouth. While out promoting a film (and she has appeared in several over the past few years), Lawrence is prone to saying whatever thought crosses her mind. But she usually does it in a way that.s moderately self-deprecating, playful, funny and charming. However, that.s not always the way things come out. Jennifer Lawrence is making the rounds, at the moment, in support of X-Men: Apocalypse, where she once again plays Mystique. On The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon, the painfully candid actress recalls a time when she made a joke in front of journalists . just Jen being Jen! Only, it went way too far, and she eventually paid the price. While promoting the 2008 film The Burning Plain, in which she co-starred with Kim Basinger, Lawrence attended a press conference in »
It's not always clear when Jennifer Lawrence is telling the truth. In fact, when she appeared on NBC's The Tonight Show Monday, Lawrence recalled once lying to a pool of reporters during her first-ever press junket for the 2008 movie The Burning Plain. At the time, director Guillermo Arriaga and co-star Charlize Theron joined the newbie actress at the event. "Kim Basinger wasn't there. We were doing an international press conference and somebody said, 'Where is Kim Basinger?' I just leaned in the microphone and was like, 'You didn't hear? Kim died.' There was like a beat while it got translated and then it was [mayhem]," she said. "I got ripped off the stage and thrown into media »
Marvel's massive Phase 3 blockbuster Captain America: Civil War has already made a huge splash at the box office in a short amount of time, crossing $300 million domestically and $1 billion mark at the global box office, after two impressive weekends in release. Despite these huge numbers, the superhero adventure couldn't pull off a third straight win in theaters, going up against Sony's The Angry Birds Movie, Universal's Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and Warner Bros.' The Nice Guys. Captain America: Civil War was bested by Sony's animated adventure The Angry Birds Movie, which earned an estimated $39 million in its first weekend.
Box Office Mojo reports that The Angry Birds Movie opened in 3,932, which is still significantly lower than Captain America's 4,226-theater rollout, but it's the biggest debut Cap and The Avengers have faced thus far. Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising debuted in 3,384 theaters, while The Nice Guys arrived in 2,865 theaters. The »

This week sees the wide release of Shane Black's The Nice Guys, and as Jason Gorber says in his review it stars a great Ryan Gosling and Russell Crowe. But in a supporting role, it also stars Kim Basinger! Now well into her sixties, Kim Basinger is still the remarkable presence which she has been in film for the past three-and-a-half decades. She's often been dismissed as just another pretty face, but history has shown that when paired with the right material, she is able to shine. And indeed she has some great performances on her resumeé. So once again I'm going to use eleven pictures of one of my favourite thespians to make a quiz. Click through the images, and guess which movies or...

Los Angeles is maybe known world-wide as an entertainment mecca, ground zero for all things that glitter, but it’s also the locale for thrillers and the “hard-boiled” mystery. Everybody from Bogie to Bob Mitchum threw on a trench coat, adjusted their fedoras, and strolled down those dark streets and alleys, looking for danger (and dangerous dames). This week’s new flick somewhat echoes those noir “programmers”. Being a big Summer release, we’ve got two “gumshoes” dodging bullets. And it’s not post WWII California, but rather post Vietnam War “la la land” circa 1977 (near Christmas-time). Now, with two bickering private eyes, you might consider this a variation of the standard “cop buddy” actioner. That’s appropriate since this movie is directed by the screenwriter who set the template for police team-up flicks back in 1987 with Lethal Weapon, Shane Black. It turns out that this movie’s heroes are »
