#sweatysundays Video by my girl @robinantin A video posted by Drew Barrymore (@drewbarrymore) on Aug 28, 2016 at 1:01pm Pdt Drew Barrymore knows the power of a little sweat session, and that's exactly what the actress did in a dance class on Sunday. Drew shared a video to Instagram of herself busting a move with the group to David Banner's "Play," writing, "#sweatysundays Video by my girl @robinantin." Robin, a well-known choreographer and founder of The Pussycat Dolls, may have had some trouble while filming (you'll have to cock your head to the side for a bit), but Drew's impressive dance skills shine through. Just another reason to love her, as far as we're concerned. 'Under the Shadow' looks like a great, slow burn horror flick

22 August 2016 10:53 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

I don't usually let the accolades in the trailer sway me because anyone can say anything about anything. For instance, the worst movie ever made -- Going the Distance with Justin Long and Drew Barrymore - could have had a trailer quoting some unknown critic saying, "A cinematic wonder! Incredible! But keep in mind, I've time travelled from the far past and have never seen a movie before!"  So yeah, there were a lot of captions telling me I'm going to like Under the Shadow. Those captions don't sway me, those critics could all be leprechauns, just making stuff up about rainbows and foreign movies. But it's not every day I come across a ghost story set in 1988 Iraq during the Iran-Iraq war. So I did some Internet researching (a.k.a. Googling) and everything I read reinforced my interest. It's the debut of Iranian-born filmmaker Babak Anvari. He grew »

Hearty Helpings of Horror: Christopher Lombardo Digs into the Food Featured in Scary Films

19 August 2016 3:57 PM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Epicureanism has come to be associated with mindless indulgence in food and sex, even if those ancient Athenians called for more restraint than you’d typically see in your average horror movie.

Countless horror films, of course, have echoed cultural anxieties surrounding sex, but that other physiological need, food, is also a common ingredient. Poor impulse control is at the heart of every slasher film—usually the perp acting on his, but also the risk-taking behaviors of his victims. And it’s not much of a stretch to consider that there’s a genetic component to this, whether manifested in psychopathy or an inability to keep the fridge door shut.

According to a Bloomberg report, 2015 was the first year Americans spent more on dining out than on groceries, as at-home food prep shows proliferate and the real-life horror that is the obesity epidemic shaves years off our lives. Luckily, amidst »

18 August 2016 9:32 AM, PDT | DailyDead | See recent DailyDead news »

Earlier this summer, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment gave Stephen King fans a big reason to rejoice when they announced a September 20th release date for their It miniseries Blu-ray. And now they’ve added two other King adaptations to their September 20th Blu-ray slate: 1979’s two-part miniseries Salem’s Lot (1979) and the horror anthology Cat’s Eye (1985), with the former being released with a new audio commentary by director Tobe Hooper.

EW reports that Warner Bros. Home Entertainment will release Salem’s Lot and Cat’s Eye on Blu-ray, respectively, on September 20th.

On the new audio commentary for Salem’s Lot, director Tobe Hooper will discuss what should be fascinating insights on the making of the miniseries based on King’s 1975 novel about a small New England town with a serious bloodsucker problem.

Featuring adaptations of King’s short stories “Quitters, Inc.” and “The Ledge,” as well as a third tale starring Drew Barrymore, »

‘Scream’ Season 2 Finale Reveals Killer and Finally Pays Homage to Wes Craven

17 August 2016 1:00 AM, PDT | Indiewire Television | See recent Indiewire Television news »

Warning: If you haven’t watched the Season 2 finale of “Scream” yet, spoilers are ahead.

MTV’s “Scream,” the television show inspired by the successful film franchise, ended its second season on Tuesday night by revealing a final surprise prepared by season one killer Piper (Amelia Rose Blaire) and Kieran (Amadeus Serafini), a disclosure that gradually revealed itself as the finale approached. Choosing this path was perhaps the closest the show had ever come to recreating the spirit of the Wes Craven film series.

The season finale — the strongest of a very uneven season — finally celebrated Craven’s work openly. Making references to all of the previous “Scream” films, the episode offered fans of the original story a chance to relive it in more modern ways. An opening car crash scene was strikingly similar to a moment in the second film, and other instances and dialogue closely recreated portions of the other films. »

The '90s It Girls You Wanted (and Still Kind of Want) to Be

12 August 2016 1:55 PM, PDT | Popsugar.com | See recent Popsugar news »

Ahh, the '90s. A time of Sassy and Jane magazines, MTV playing actual music videos, and devastatingly overtweezed eyebrows. We've brought back many of the decade's biggest trends, from Doc Martens and babydoll dresses to chokers and Lisa Frank - we've even rebooted some of the classic shows, like Boy Meets World, Full House, and The X-Files. In addition to the fashion, beauty, and entertainment highlights that have made their way back, there are lots of celebrities who had a huge '90s heyday and are still serving serious style now. Stars like Liv Tyler, Halle Berry, Drew Barrymore, and Winona Ryder have continued to inspire us, just like they did when we idolized them as teenagers. Yes, we can sing the praises of Beyoncé, Jennifer Lawrence, Gigi Hadid, and Emma Watson all day, but before them came a crop of impossibly cool women who paved the way and »

Rogue One is going to fail

12 August 2016 10:59 AM, PDT | Hitfix | See recent Hitfix news »

Clip It: Each day, Jon Davis looks at the world of trailers, featurettes and clips and puts it all in perspective. In the new trailer, the battle droid K-2So (and new fan favorite?) warns Jyn Erso and her Rogue One crew that there's a "97.66% chance of failure." That's pretty bad. In fact, it's terrible. This means they won't get the plans, they are all going to die, and the whole thing is going to be a tragedy. That's a rough movie going experience (although not as rough as Going the Distance with Drew Barrymore, trust me on this). It's true that droids are not always the best at making calculations. In Empire Strikes Back, C-3P0 famously told Han Solo the "chance of successfully navigating an asteroid field was 3720 to 1." We know that Han Solo defies the odds, that's why you never give him the odds. But are droids usually wrong? »

Live-Action Curious George Movie Finds Its Director

10 August 2016 10:07 AM, PDT | We Got This Covered | See recent We Got This Covered news »

Universal is beginning to set the wheels in motion for its live-action Curious George movie, recruiting Andrew Adamson to co-write and direct the long-rumored feature.

Word comes by way of Deadline, revealing that Adamson – best known for his work on The Chronicles of Narnia and DreamWorks’ dormant Shrek franchise – will be the one guiding that curious little monkey onto the big screen. Details remain few and far between at such an early stage, but we understand Universal’s adaptation will mine inspiration from “the classic book series by Margret and Hans Augusto Rey.”

Said to be unrelated to the animated Curious George movie that featured Will Ferrell and Drew Barrymore, Universal’s plans for a live-action spin on the cutesy primate come at a lucrative time for the sub-genre. Thanks in large part to Disney – the House of Mouse has pumped out Alice in Wonderland and The Jungle Book ahead »
