Ben Affleck new film trailer – Argo

8 May 2012 12:30 PM, PDT | Hollywoodnews.com | See recent Hollywoodnews.com news »

HollywoodNews.com: I haven’t read the true story that this film is based on (if you want to, here’s the Wired story). But the general idea seems like just the sort of great story that lends itself to a fun movie. And the film is filled to the gills with terrific character actors (John Goodman, Bryan Cranston, Victor Garber, Kyle Chandler, Tate Donovan, Phillip, Adrienne Barbeau, and my personal favorite, Zeljko Ivanek, etc).

And while I’m among those who didn’t care for The Town, I’m a big fan of Affleck’s Gone Baby Gone so he’s still batting a solid 0.500 so far. My only carp is with the trailer itself. It’s a 150-second spot that clearly divided into three acts. The first 45-seconds or so explains the time, setting, and political crisis that kicks the story into gear, while the middle 45-seconds goes »

‘Argo’ Trailer: CIA Meets Hollywood in Ben Affleck’s Historical Thriller

8 May 2012 9:29 AM, PDT | ScreenRant.com | See recent Screen Rant news »

Ben Affleck is hoping to go 3-for-3 on his directorial efforts with this fall’s “based on true events” historical CIA thriller, Argo – and judging by the official trailer, he appears to have pulled off that hat trick.

Argo features an admirable cast that is headed by Affleck, alongside people like Bryan Cranston (Breaking Bad), John Goodman (The Artist), Alan Arkin (Little Miss Sunshine), Kyle Chandler (Friday Night Lights), Clea DuVall (Girl, Interrupted), Victor Garber (Alias) and Adrienne Barbeau (Carnivàle) – all dressed and groomed to look like relics of the 1970s, with impeccable attention to detail on a par with a TV show like Mad Men.

Joshuah Berman’s article about the 1979 Iranian revolution from Wired Magazine is the basis for Chris Terrio’s Argo script, wherein six American members of the country’s U.S. embassy manage to seek refuge in the home of ...

Thirty Most Anticipated Films of 2012: #11-20

9 January 2012 11:59 AM, PST | SoundOnSight | See recent SoundOnSight news »

Ever since I launched Sound On Sight back in 2008, I’ve seen an average of 150 new releases each year, and every year since, I’ve been able to easily draft up a list of my fifty favourite films. In fact, there were so many great movies released in 2011, I have a list of 75 I feel worth recommending. They say they don’t make movies like they used to and they don’t – they in some ways make it better. 2012 is already lining up to be a banner year and some of my favourite filmmakers are back, including Quentin Tarantino, The Coen Brothers, P.T. Anderson, Wong Kar Wai and even Steven Soderbergh.

11- World War Z

World War Z is an upcoming post-apocalyptic horror film based on the best selling novel of the same name by Max Brooks, son of Mel Brooks. The film is directed by Marc Forster and stars Brad Pitt, »

Lianne Spiderbaby: 2011 – The Year Of The Woman

By Lianne Spiderbaby

Last February I wrote a controversial article entitled I Spit On Your Movie that was published on Fangoria’s website. I have strong opinions about the 2010 I Spit On Your Grave remake, and I wasn’t afraid to share them publicly, figuring I was entitled to my opinion, but a few readers did not enjoy my idea of free speech (especially when cutting up their precious and pathetic remake).  I prepared myself for praise and the death threats, both of which I still receive in plenty as a result. I concluded my article (now housed on my own site) by stating that I hoped to see some nondiscriminatory portrayals of women in the future – an equal playing field for women in horror on the big screen.  I had no idea that my dream would come true just one year later, in 2011.
