Madonna and her younger dancer boyfriend Brahim Zaibat have called it quits after three years of dating.
Madonna, Bahim Zaibat Split
Madonna, 55, began dating Zaibat, 25, in 2010 after meeting at the launching event for Madonna’s daughter Lourdes' clothing line, Material Girl, where he performed. Following their introduction, Madonna hired Zaibat on as a backup dancer on her Mdna world tour and welcomed him into her personal life as a boyfriend.
While Madonna has confirmed the split, a reason for the breakup wasn’t given. Some reports suggest that Zaibat no longer wanted to be known as just Madonna’s boyfriend. Furthermore, there’ve been rumors that suggest Zaibat has gotten close to his Dancing with the Stars (France) partner Katrina Patchett.
“He is far more assertive than before. Brahim is no longer Madonna’s little boy,” a source told the Daily Mail. “He wants to be known for who he is. »

Antonio Banderas is being tapped by one of Italy's most successful film producers to star as a young Pope Francis in a new biopic.
Pietro Valsecchi, the man behind popular comedies Sun in Buckets (Sole a catinelle) from this year and What a Beautiful Day (Che bella giornata) from 2011, broke the news in a television interview. The proposed film would most likely debut on the small screen in Italy.
Valsecchi's popular films, which star musician and standup comic Checco Zalone and are often directed by Gennaro Nunziante, are lowbrow comedies. But the producer certainly has the financial clout to get the biopic made, with his last two movies currently standing as the highest grossing films of all time in Italy, ahead of Roberto Benigni's 1997 Oscar winner Life is Beautiful. »

Terrence Malick has let many collaborators into his secretive, creative lair but only a select few have become regulars. But it looks like Hanan Townshend will join folks like production designer Jack Fisk, editor Billy Weber and cinematographer Emmanuel Lubezki as one of the lucky few. The composer has reunited with the filmmaker to score the director's upcoming "Knight of Cups," his second straight gig with Malick after composing the score for "To the Wonder." Of course, little is actually known of the plot, but it will feature in varying capacities (depending on who gets cut or not): Christian Bale, Natalie Portman, Cate Blanchett, Isabel Lucas, Antonio Banderas, Wes Bentley, Imogen Poots, Freida Pinto, Teresa Palmer, Ryan O'Neal, Jason Clarke, Joel Kinnaman and Shea Whigham. But that's not all Townshend is working on. He's also been hired to contribute additional music to the Malick-produced "The Green Glade Rises," which »

‘Catching Fire’ box office: To surpass Iron Man 3 in North America? (photo: Sam Claflin as Finnick Odair in ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’) Thanksgiving was celebrated this past week in the United States. Although the American economy remains in a seemingly never-ending rut, Lionsgate has much to be thankful for, financially speaking: on the weekend of November 29-December 1, 2013, Francis Lawrence’s $110-130 million-budgeted The Hunger Games: Catching Fire, starring Jennifer Lawrence, Josh Hutcherson, and Liam Hemsworth, added another $74.5 million from 4,163 North American locations according to studio estimates found at Box Office Mojo. Even if Lionsgate’s estimates are (once again) off by a couple of percentage points, that’s a remarkable hold for a sequel. In fact, Catching Fire was down only 53% compared to its first weekend, which included $25+ million from Thursday night and Friday midnight screenings. And let’s not forget that the Hunger Games sequel blew off »

In the deceptively entertaining new thriller "Homefront," Jason Statham plays a man who relocates to the Tennessee Williams-y deep south, with his young daughter, after the death of his wife. Thinking that he left his life of law enforcement behind (in the movie's prologue, you see him embedded with a group of deadly, meth-dealing bikers), he instead runs afoul of a small-time gangster named Gator (played by James Franco) and finds himself fighting for his life.
Moviefone chatted with Statham about what drew him to the material, with a script written by Sylvester Stallone from the novel by Chuck Hogan ("The Town," Guillermo del Toro's upcoming TV series "The Strain"), how he maintains what a "Jason Statham movie" is expected to be, and what we should be expecting from "Fast & Furious 7," "Expendables 3," and "Crank 3." It should also be noted that, for such a tough guy, he's unexpectedly warm and inviting, »

Machete Kills is one of the biggest box office flops of the year, and even debuted with one of the worst opening weekends of all time. But maybe it will find its audience on home video, where people who hated the original (such as myself) might be compelled to give it a look.
We can confirm that Robert Rodriguez's Machete Kills is headed for Blu-ray and DVD on January 21, 2014 courtesy of Universal Studios. Fans can own an increasingly-standard Blu-ray combo pack that includes a Blu-ray, DVD, and Ultraviolet digital copy of the action sequel. Filmed on location in Harlem and timed for the holidays, Fox Searchlight’s “Black Nativity” premiered Nov. 18 at Harlem’s historic Apollo Theater.
Styler and Hudson worked together on the last Rainforest benefit at Carnegie Hall. “Because of that I was able to talk to her directly but it took lots of convincing. She’s a super, super lady, an absolute pro with a big heart and we just appealed to her that this was an African-American story, going to be shot in Harlem, directed by an African-American woman. It checked all those boxes so she came onboard.”

Slim Pickens was an actor known for One Eyed Jacks, Blazing Saddles and of course Dr Strangelove. What you get this week is not Pickens the actor iconically riding the bomb down to the ground in the Stanley Kubrick classic or any kind of online retrospective of his work, but slim pickings in terms of new streaming choices. So it’s Netflix’s time to shine….
Netflix has added more or less all of the low-key interesting independent films from last year with real gems like Safety Not Guaranteed and Maniac and even the lesser likes of Excision and Some Guy Who Kills People. It’s entirely possible that Lovefilm/Amazon is behind closed doors after last week’s Marvel/Netflix news, plotting something with DC comics but we will see…

Austin -- Antonio Banderas, Melanie Griffith, Val Kilmer, Gerard Butler and Sting were among the celebs checking out the Formula 1 race cars on the start grid of the U.S. Grand Prix in Austin on Sunday before watching driver Sebastian Vettel set a record eight-in-a-row victory. The Grand Prix’s second outing in Austin brought out a larger contingent from Hollywood, which is helping to burnish the F1 brand in the U.S. The elite international auto-racing event seems to gradually be taking hold Stateside (where Nascar racing has dominated). Last year’s inaugural race also attracted some

‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ release date postponed to Valentine’s Day 2015 (photo: Shirtless Jamie Dornan) Valentine’s Day 2015 will get a lot kinkier than Valentine’s Days of years past — well … depending on your concept of "kink." Universal Pictures has announced that the movie version of E.L. James’ Fifty Shades of Grey, likely to get either a tame (for sex) R or an even tamer PG-13 rating from the prudes at the Motion Picture Association of America, has a new release date: Friday, February 13, 2015, the day before Valentine’s Day and the start of President’s Day weekend in the United States. To be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson (Nowhere Boy), Fifty Shades of Grey is set to star Henry Cavill-look-alike Jamie Dornan (Flying Home) as billionaire and S&M aficionado Christian Grey and Dakota Johnson (21 Jump Street) as his ready, willing, and able sex pal. Every Wednesday, FM writers Simon Columb and Brogan Morris write two short reviews on Woody Allen films ... in the hope of watching all his films over the course of roughly 49 weeks. If you have been watching Woody's films and want to join in, feel free to comment with short reviews yourself! Next up is Zelig and You Will Meet a Tall Dark Stranger...
Simon Columb on Zelig...
Before Forrest Gump was Zelig. Feeding a fictional character into history is central to the story of Leonard Zelig. Prior to Christopher Guest and his popular use of mockumentary in This is Spinal Tap, Woody Allen was there in 1983 (Allen’s Take the Money and Run from 1969 is one of the earliest uses of mockumentary in cinema). This is the story of Leonard Zelig (Woody Allen), a fictional character in the 1920’s dubbed a chameleon due to his extraordinary skill in changing form »
