Guy Ritchie Didn't Like Brad Pitt

6 December 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

British movie director Guy Ritchie disliked Brad Pitt - because he was too handsome. Madonna's fiancee Ritchie agreed to give Pitt a role in his movie Snatch (2000) only after discovering there was more to the Hollywood star than his pretty face. And Ritchie admits he gave Pitt a very hard time to start with. He says, "Brad Pitt's rather hard to swallow in one bite because he's a very talented actor and good-looking, so men don't like him for reasons which I understand. However, once he's a funny b**tard, men somehow forgive him for being good-looking." »

Pitt Holds Up Gangster Film

28 November 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Brad Pitt is holding up the start of George Clooney's Rat Pack tribute Ocean's Eleven (2001) - because his current film Spy Game, The (2001) is running over schedule. But Clooney claims the extra time will work in his favor, because he can fine tune the script so his gangster romp will be better than the original. He says, "I'm sure we're gonna take a lot of heat. With a cast like ours people will sit back with their arms crossed going, 'Show me.' The guys in the original film are great, but the movie doesn't really work on any level. Maybe we'll make up for not being as cool as Sammy, Frank and Dean by having a better script." Clooney's Ocean's Eleven (2001) will star himself and Pitt, Julia Roberts, Matt Damon and Don Cheadle. Interestingly, Cheadle played Sammy Davis Jr. opposite Ray Liotta's Sinatra in HBO's cable movie, Rat Pack, The (1998) (TV). »

Paltrow Emasculates Lovers

Slender beauty Gwyneth Paltrow has a surprising problem with men - she threatens their masculinity. The Academy Award-winning actress has smooched with a series of high profile hunks, including Brad Pitt and Ben Affleck - but anxious fans of the actors needn't worry, only non-celebrity guys are at risk from 'scary' Gwyneth. She explains, "The predicament I find myself in, and the predicament of a lot of powerful women, is that you don't want to be emasculating to your boyfriend. But if somebody's in showbusiness, if they're connected with this world, then it's more like, 'Well, we're all in this together.'" »

Perry Cleans Up After Pal Jennifer Weds

27 October 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Attending "Friends" (1994) co-star Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt's wedding has inspired Matthew Perry to quit partying, find a bride and start a family. The 31-year-old funnyman admits his bout of pancreatitis earlier this year was caused by "hard living, drinking hard and eating poorly", and the wedding of his pals has prompted him to be a more wholesome person. Perry says he hasn't visited any of his old nightclub haunts for six months, and he's now putting all his energy into finding a wife in his 30s. He says, "I don't think I'm going to meet my wife at the Sky Bar. My 20s were about work - making enough money so that I could do what I wanted to do - partying, and stuff like that. I think, I hope, my 30s are going to be more about developing my social skills in a way I haven't done before, so that I get married in my 30s and have a child in my 30s. I was inspired by Jennifer's wedding. It was the most romantic night of my life, and I wasn't even getting married." »

Brad Pitt and Robert Redford have been forced to relocate to Britain - after a real war threatened their war film. The Hollywood pair were shooting director Tony Scott's espionage thriller The Spy Game in Israel - but the mounting Israeli-Palestinian conflict led to fears for the stars' safety. A spokesman for the production says, "You have to think of not just the safety of the stars, but the entire crew. In any case, I think the money and the insurance have been jumping up and down, going nuts at the prospect of filming in a war zone." Brad Pitt's Ex-Lover Is Librarian

29 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Brad Pitt's ex-lover has shunned the bright lights of Hollywood - for a modest job working in a local library. When Pitt married Jennifer Aniston at a star-studded ceremony in Malibu this summer, Pitt's old flame Shalane McCall was less than 50 miles away. But she may well have been halfway around the globe for all their lives have in common - McCall, who played Charlie Wade on "Dallas" (1978), turned her back on Hollywood to begin a new life as a $25, 000-a-year librarian. A pal says, "Shalane has evolved from an adorable teen on Dallas to a beautiful, poised woman of 28. But even though she was a huge success at such an early age, show business is now the furthest thing from her mind." Shalane was just 15-years-old when Pitt, 24 at that time, was hired to play her beau Randy on the nighttime soap and the pair became a real-life couple. But aged 16, Pitt and Shalane broke up and the actress married musician Trent Valladares in 1989. »

Juliette Lewis Bares All To Be Sexy

28 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actress Juliette Lewis has stripped off her make-up for a provocative photoshoot - to prove you don't have to be glossy to ooze sex appeal. With armpit stubble, chubby stomach and belly button hair, Lewis - who dated Hollywood hunk Brad Pitt for five years in the early 1990s - insists the Pamela Anderson look is not what being sexy is all about. She says, "What you exude, your sexuality, is just a part of yourself. So a manufactured sex appeal, which includes an open mouth and lip gloss and bright colours, this is the American porn sex appeal which has nothing to do with sex... It's like blow-up dolls. I could do that. Very easily. It's not like I can't. It's just never been my objective." »

Actor David Schwimmer and Mili Avital have called it quits - because he couldn't handle the pressure of marriage. She pushed so hard for marriage that she pushed him away. At one time Mili was the perfect girl for David." But insiders say there were other cracks in the relationship, "Even though he had that incredible $750, 000 payday, he thought Mili was too extravagant. When all is said and done, the hype over Jennifer and Brad's wedding was the undoing of David and Mili." »

Crudup Says "No" To Fame

20 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Movie hunk Billy Crudup is happy he's not involved in the glitz of Hollywood - because it would ruin his credibility. Billy stars as the guitarist on the verge of fame in Cameron Crowe's rock drama Almost Famous (2000). Crowe originally talked to Tom Cruise about playing the rock star and eventually cast Brad Pitt who quickly dropped out. He says, "What disappoints me is that after my six years as a professional actor, I'm still being asked whether I feel I'm a star or whether I want to be a star. That has never been a concern for me. I just want to be an actor. Celebrity is actually a hindrance to such a goal. I prefer to remain anonymous. The more audiences know about me, the harder I have to work to make my characters believable." Crowe adds, "Billy is every bit as talented and charismatic as Tom and Brad. The fact he isn't as well known works for the film. Audiences buy Billy as the musician the moment they see him. It would have taken the same audiences 15 or 20 minutes to forget the guy with the guitar was Brad or Tom." (JM/WNWCCC) »

Emmy Is Nothing Compared To Getting Married

12 September 2000 | WENN | See recent WENN news »

Actresses Jennifer Aniston and Debra Messing were thrilled to be nominated at Sunday's Emmy Awards in Los Angeles - but the night paled into insignificance compared to their recent marriages. Aniston walked down the aisle to marry movie heart-throb Brad Pitt last month, whilst it was only a week since Messing tied the knot with her long time beau Daniel Zelman. And although the glitz and glamor of the 2000 Emmy award ceremony was exciting, Aniston admitted it "doesn't compare" to her wedding day. Messing agrees, adding, "This is unbelievable to be here, it's a dream come true but I'm still flying from the happiest day of my life. It was one week ago tonight so I'm a little still loopy about it." Neither Aniston nor Messing were successful in their nominations. »

All of us thought it was a wind-up, but then he turned up with six bodyguards in tow. Everyone in the bar was taken aback." »
