'Sytycd': Jennifer Lopez to Give 'Louboutins' a Holiday Flair on Finale

13 December 2009 10:08 PM, PST | Celebrity Mania | See recent Celebrity Mania news »

In spirit of the holiday season, Jennifer Lopez will not present "So You Think You Can Dance" viewers with a boxing-theme performance of her single "Louboutins" this coming Wednesday, December 16. Instead, she will be delivering a holiday-themed number of the song on the season six finale.

Unraveling the holiday version of the song was "Sytycd" choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon D'umo. "The idea is kind of a cross between a Marilyn Monroe, 'Santa Baby' and a 'Diamonds are a Girl's Best Friend,' but using shoes," Napoleon first opened up about the performance. "Shoes are a girl's best friend nowadays instead of diamonds."

Wife Tabitha chimed in, "What would a girl want for Christmas? Of course it would be a shiny pair of Louboutin shoes ... It's for the holiday season [and] we're putting a holiday twist to 'Louboutins.' " She then detailed, "We're going to incorporate some girls in the performance that were in [Sytycd] seasons past. »

Jennifer Lopez is taking a mulligan. After a spill at the American Music Awards, the "Louboutins" singer is teaming up again with So You Think You Can Dance choreographers Tabitha and Napoleon Dumo (known as Nappytabs) to do a holiday-themed number for the season finale of the show. Although Lopez redeemed herself with a performance on Ellen, Tabitha says they're not taking any chances this time. "We're steering clear of some big jumps," Tabitha says. "I feel like we don't have to be dangerous anymore ... Though I appreciated seeing guys with their shirts off personally -- [there will be] no sweaty backs, no shirtless guys. »

British film rivals in race to tell Maria Callas's love story

12 December 2009 4:05 PM, PST | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »

Penélope Cruz and Anne Hathaway may be rivals in two biopics

Two British screenplays are competing for the chance to be the first to tell the compelling life story of the opera star Maria Callas on film.

This summer, as guests attending the Cannes film festival gathered for cocktails on the terrace of the exclusive Martinez hotel to celebrate the 40th anniversary of Pier Paolo Pasolini's acclaimed film Medea, with Callas in the non-singing title role, the soprano's close associations with glamour and the cinema were never more evident.

On display at the hotel was a selection of jewellery from Callas's private collection, including her white diamond "La Traviata" necklace, showcased alongside unseen photographs of the singer with stars such as Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor and Grace Kelly. But what the guests at the Martinez did not know was that, just along the Croisette, producers were busy with plans »

Sir Elton John:Top Iconic Male Gay Of All Time

10 December 2009 2:46 AM, PST | Gossipvita | See recent Gossipvita news »

The legendary pop star – who married his long-term lover David Furnish in a civil partnership ceremony in 2005 - has been declared the male most respected by homosexuals, while the late actress Judy Garland was named the most iconic female.

The male list was predominantly made up of gay men – including late Queen singer Freddie Mercury, British TV star Stephen Fry and ‘Faith’ hitmaker George Michael – apart from soccer hunk David Beckham, who is married to Victoria Beckham.

Meanwhile, the female list was full of glamorous female stars – including singers Kylie Minogue, Madonna and Cher – rather than famous lesbians. A spokesperson from www.OnePoll.com – who commissioned the survey of over 5,000 gay men and women - said: “Interestingly only one of the men in the top 10 list of male celebrity gay icons isn’t gay – David Beckham. And yet most of the women put on a pedestal by the gay community are straight. »

Kate Moss is Lindsay Lohan's Muse in Muse

9 December 2009 12:44 PM, PST | www.actressarchives.com | See recent Actress Archives news »

In an extensive spread for the Italian magazine Muse, Lindsay Lohan poses topless in all sorts of sexy, seedy situations. Lindsay gets frisky with both sexes in the shoot, dangling a cigarette from either her mouth or her fingers in many of the shots. The shoot is weird, and sexy, and dark, and recreates scenes from Kate Moss's relationship with Johnny Depp. Considering Lindsay's already channeled Marilyn Monroe, we guess it makes sense that she'd eventually move on to another high-profile drug-addicted blonde.Perhaps the most interesting thing about Lohan's scandalous shoot is how little anybody seems to care about it. Michelle Williams May Play Marilyn Monroe

8 December 2009 12:52 PM, PST | newsinfilm.com | See recent newsinfilm news »

Michelle Williams may be portraying blonde icon Marilyn Monroe in My Week With Marilyn. She is listed as “in talks” for the part, according to a Tweet from Production Weekly.

The film peeks behind the scenes during the making of 1957’s The Princess and the Showgirl co-starring Laurence Olivier. The story is based on a diary and told from the perspective of Colin Clark, a personal assistant to Olivier unofficially assigned to Marilyn on set. Clark’s account of the events deliberately left out a week’s worth of details, and the film will supposedly reveal what happened in the missing excerpt.  Adrian Hodges adapted the book into a screenplay.

Scarlett Johansson, who was born to play Monroe, was rumored in past months but was never approached by the producer for whatever reason. Amy Adams was also considered.

Williams is not formerly signed for the film yet. She was offered »

Michelle Williams to Play Marilyn Monroe

7 December 2009 3:44 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Production Weekly is reporting this week that Michelle Williams (Wendy and Lucy, Brokeback Mountain) is in talks to play Marilyn Monroe in My Week with Marilyn. The project, which is under the helm of British TV vet Simon Curtis and producer David Parfitt, is based on the diary of Colin Clark, an employee of Sir Laurence Olivier in 1957. He was tasked to look after Monroe when she arrived in London to film The Prince and the Showgirl. In 1958, Clark published excerpts from his diary, leaving out the week with Ms. Monroe. Those entries were finally released in 2002, and have since been adapted into a feature-length story. Originally, Scarlett Johansson was set to play Monroe, leading to much fanfare around her potential wardrobe choices. As I'm sure we can all agree, there is a large segment of the population that would like to see her dolling out her various assets. With Williams, the »

Monologue - Femme Fatale.

7 December 2009 9:00 AM, PST | FilmExperience | See recent FilmExperience news »

Jose here with the Monday Monologue.

The Limits of Control might not be Jim Jarmusch's best film (in fact it was panned by most critics) but there are hints of the auteur's brilliance throughout that overcome the otherwise nonsensical, pretentious existentialism. One of these scenes involves Tilda Swinton (no surprise huh?). She's one of the characters the hitman (played by Isaach de Bankolé) must meet for information.

Swinton enters the scene in a conspicuous outfit made out of a trench coat, a hat and dark glasses. She looks around everywhere before she sits with the hitman. She seems to read through him and makes up in her mind as to what kind of man he is. "Are you interested in films by any chance?" she asks.

She doesn't wait for an answer before she continues I like really old films. You can really see what the world looked like; thirty, »

Have a question about gay male entertainment? Send it to aftereltonflyingmonkey@yahoo.com! (Please include your city and state and/or country.)

A Note from the Flying Monkey: I recently wrote how weird it is that, completely coincidentally, I often get a bunch of questions all at the same time clustered around a central theme. Well, almost every question I received this week had something to do with music. Check it out!

Q: Oh, Great Flying Simian Even Smarter Than the Only Other Smart Monkey I Can Think Of, Doctor Zaius: You might not have heard about it because it was very hush-hush, but Adam Lambert kissed his keyboardist during a performance at the American Music Awards. Supposedly, it wasn’t rehearsed, but done “in the moment.” So what does the keyboardist think – and is he gay? – Martin, U.S. Virgin Islands

Old Ass Movies: Some Like It Hot

6 December 2009 5:59 PM, PST | FilmSchoolRejects.com | See recent FilmSchoolRejects news »

Every Sunday, Film School Rejects presents a film that was made before you were born and tells you why you should like it. This week, Old Ass Movies presents: Some Like It Hot (1959) If you've been paying attention, this is two Billy Wilder films in a row for Old Ass Movies. It's also the second Wilder film in a row to feature Jack Lemmon. I had high praise for The Apartment last week, so this week I wanted to take a look at an early incarnation of that relationship. Where Billy Wilder put Lemmon in a dress. Joe (Tony Curtis) and Jerry (Jack Lemmon) are two musicians who see a mob murder and decide to go into hiding in an all-female band headed for sunny Florida. The gorgeous Sugar Kane Kowalcyk (Marilyn Monroe) is part of the troupe, which might just be two good reasons to stay in hiding. Jerry ends up playing the ultimate wing man »

No 76: Errol Flynn 1909-1959

Flynn was born in Tasmania, the son of an eminent marine biologist, and early on developed a passion for the sea and a reputation as a rebel. Spotted by a Warner Brothers talent scout while a young, very minor actor in England, he became an overnight Hollywood star in 1935 as a last-minute replacement for Robert Donat as the swashbuckling hero of Captain Blood. By 1936 he was the leading contender to play Rhett Butler in Gone With The Wind.

Flynn was tall, slim, graceful, debonair with a neatly trimmed moustache, a winning smile, a hearty, self-mocking laugh. Everything he did, both on screen and off, contributed to his legendary status: the colonial background (he claimed to be a descendant of Fletcher Christian); the celebrated characters he played (General Custer, Robin Hood); his sexual conquests; his prodigious phallic dimensions (according to Truman Capote in Music for Chameleons, »

The folks at our sister site Cinematical are working hard to give you news and reviews of the best -- and worst -- the silver screen has to offer. Here are some of their musings on the latest blockbusters, indies, and everything in between:

I'll probably end up seeing it on DVD, but Everybody's Fine isn't really making me rush out to the theater in the way I feel a De Niro movie should. You can read Cinematical's review of it here. I like Michelle Williams well enough, but I have nearly no desire to see her play Marilyn Monroe. Tobey Maguire looks positively terrifying in Brothers. I can't decide if that makes me want to see it more or less. You can read Cinematical's review of Brothers here. In Up in the Air, George Clooney plays a man who basically fires people for a living. Michelle Williams in Talks to Play Marilyn Monroe in New Biopic

4 December 2009 9:05 PM, PST | CinemaSpy | See recent CinemaSpy news »

A few months ago it was reported that Scarlett Johansson was leading a list of actress under consideration to play Marilyn Monroe in director Simon Curtis' biopic, My Week with Marilyn. Kate Hudson, Amy Adams and Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain) were also mentioned as possible contenders for the role.

Production Weekly has now learned that Johansson is out of the running and that its Williams who is in-talks with Curtis to top line the movie, set to begin lensing in June, 2010.

My Week will be based on the diary of Colin Clark, an employee of Laurence Olivier, who looked after Monroe when she came to London to film Olivier's "The Prince and the Showgirl" in 1957. Although Colin was technically considered the third assistant director, his unofficial role was to keep Monroe out of Olivier's way.

Clark published excerpts of his diary a year later, but left out the details of one week. »

Michelle Williams to be Marilyn Monroe?

4 December 2009 6:47 PM, PST | Atomic Popcorn | See recent Atomic Popcorn news »

If you had to pick the actress to play the woman who is pretty much considered be the epitome of a sex symbol, who would you choose?

That’s the question Simon Curtis has had to answer with his upcoming film My Week With Marilyn, a biopic about the one and only Marilyn Monroe.

Current screen siren Scarlett Johansson was originally being looked at to play the role of the Hollywood icon, but it has now been reported that another blonde beauty, Michelle Williams, is in talks to take on the part.

Not much is known about the film yet, but it’s supposedly based on the book My Week With Marilyn, which is based on author Colin Clark’s experience working with Marilyn Monroe during the filming of her 1957 film The Prince and the Showgirl.

Filming is set to begin in June, and we’ll keep you posted on production details as they come. »

Scoop This: Williams as Marilyn Monroe, Spielberg Ditches ‘Harvey’ and Best Trailers of ‘09

Michelle Williams to Play Marilyn Monroe? There’s a Marilyn Monroe movie in the works, and though Scarlett Johansson was at one time tapped to play the iconic actress, Production Weekly has reported (via their Twitter feed) that none other than Michelle Williams is now in talks to play Monroe. We’re not sure what happened to Johansson or why she’s no longer associated with the project, but we’re kinda stoked that Williams is now the frontrunner.   While she might not seem sexy and sensual enough to play a young Marilyn Monroe, I think Williams has come a long way from her debut on Dawson’s Creek and has carved out a very enticing career as of late – to the point where it won’t be long before we see her take home an Oscar, and you can...

Michelle Williams to Play Marilyn Monroe?

4 December 2009 12:02 PM, PST | Cinematical | See recent Cinematical news »

If you had to pick a young actress to play Marilyn Monroe, who would you choose? Can you even think of someone who'd truly fit the role? Personally, I can't, but I do know one thing: Michelle Williams -- God, I love her -- wouldn't even make my top 50. So, seeing the Tweet from Production Weekly claiming the Oscar-nominated actress is in talks to play the titular icon in a movie called My Week with Marilyn made me nearly fall out of my chair.

I'm not sure if my reaction is more unfair to Williams or Monroe, but I guess I imagine someone less talented and less wholesome-looking. Someone like Scarlett Johansson, who was previously rumored to be in line for the film. Or Megan Fox, Malin Ackerman, Anna Faris or any other pin-up type currently included in Maxim's Hot 100.
