Mr. Cary Grant | Archibald Leach
6' 1½" (1.87 m)
Did You Know?
I know they nicknamed us "Cash and Cary", but I never asked Barbara Hutton
for a penny. I never married a woman for money, that's the God's truth. I may not have married for very sound reasons, but money was the least of them.
Replaced James Stewart
as the hapless ad man "Roger Thornhill" in North by Northwest
(1959). Stewart very much wanted the part, but director Alfred Hitchcock
decided not to cast him because of the box office failure of Vertigo
(1958), which Hitchcock blamed on Stewart for looking "too old" and chose Grant instead, even though he was actually four years older.
